Shy, awkward Sophia Cruz has a hard time telling her vivacious identical twin “no.” But when her sister begs her to swap places for a modeling shoot, she caves … again. Then Zephirin Black walks onto the set. The brooding, aloof, and gorgeous tight end for the Washington Warriors. But she can keep it professional… She has to. Because the adorkable Cruz twin has no luck with guys once they … compare her to her sister.
After a bad break-up, Zeph hasn’t been big on second chances–and even less with trust. But he finds himself giving please-call-me-by-my-middle-name-Sophia both. The woman he’d dismissed as a spoiled cover model is different from the first time he met her. Quirkier. Funnier. Definitely sexier. What started as one night turns into another…and another…and another…
Still, Sophia can’t go on keeping her secret from him. But telling Zeph the truth will mean losing him for good.

This is my first book by this author – but it won’t be the last. I read this book cover-to-cover without stopping, it was that good. Off to get more in this series.
I’m loving twin stories right now, and this one was a fantastic read filled with endearing characters and some fun twists and turns. The sexytimes were deliciously steamy, too!
I’m not even sure when Scoring with the Wrong Twin first hit my radar, but if I had to guess, it was on or near release day. While I can’t remember for sure, I’m going to assume that smoking hot cover had something to do with catching my interest initially, too. (I mean, hello!) But as often happens, it fell off my radar and I moved on to other books. Then I read an article Naima Simone wrote about diverse books and I bumped it right on up to the top of TBR. I’m really glad I did, because I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Though it’s been awhile since I read an Entangled Brazen book, my appreciation for them hasn’t waned a bit. They’re perfect for when I want a quick and sexy read with substance and a guaranteed HEA. (Note to self: read more Brazen.) I also love a good sports romance, so there was no way I was passing up the chance to read about the super hot tight end (oh yeah!) Zeph. He was all kinds of hot and amazing. And Sophie was no slouch herself. I liked the mistaken identity storyline, even though I suspected the misunderstanding/misdirection would cause some drama before it was all said and done. But mostly I liked the seriously smoking hot connection between Zeph and Sophie and the way everything progressed between them.
This was a great read. I finished it in two sittings and enjoyed it so much. This was my first Naima Simone book, but it won’t be my last. I haven’t yet made time to read the second WAGS book, Scoring Off the Field, but it’s all queued up for when I have some extra reading time.
FAVORITE QUOTES
“I can give you a tour. Or I can take you to the bedroom and bury my face between your legs. Your choice.”
“You make me want things I shouldn’t. That I know better than to take. Wanting you makes me selfish.”
“Never apologize for the inexcusable, abusive actions of other people. You might’ve gone through hell, but you came out strong. Beautiful. The toughest, most indestructible swords are forged in the hottest fires. And the longer they remain in, the more resilient and shatterproof they are. That’s you.”
I loved this! Zeph and Sophia are so hot, and I am a sucker for a good twin swap/mistaken identity type story. This is sexy, interesting, and had a nice sprinkle of angst. The characters are wonderful and authentic with depth, and I love Naima’s writing. A very enjoyable read!
Beyond hot! And still so much emotion and plenty of humor. Love the dynamic between Zephirin and Sophia. The way their connection grows from merely physical to something deeper is so powerful and organic.
Loved it! Binge read the entire book in one sitting. it was that good, I just couldn’t put it down.
Zephirin and Sophia had their issues, but their chemistry was out the door sexy! My only complaint is that I wish Sophia came clean with Zephirin way sooner then she did.
Even though I don’t watch football or pay any attention to it, I loved this super sexy football romance. Naima Simone did an amazing job capturing web developer Sophia’s nervousness as she poses in a racy photo shoot as her glamorous model twin, then impulsively decides to follow her lust for her shootmate, football player Zephirin. With alternating viewpoints, she explores why each of them are only looking for a no-strings-attached romp, but are drawn to each other in the most scorching ways. She even throws in a reference to an old-school Jude Devereaux romance about twins. Sophia was a memorable character to me because she’s beautiful but doesn’t see her own beauty because she was always compared to her sister, and also smart and geeky. The sex scenes were all totally scorching, and the tension was drawn out wonderfully throughout the book. So no football experience or interest is required to enjoy this book! I highly recommend it.
This book was so goooood. It was nail biting on the edge of your seat good! It was heated, complicated, exciting, full of intrigue, lies, fire and one of the best happily ever after I’ve ever read.
I think you will definitely enjoy this book.
I struggled with this book. The storyline was solid but the telling of it was not good. I was slow and dragged. I wasn’t a fan of Zephirin but I liked Sophia’s character. I felt like the two characters didn’t have any depth. We find out Zeph’s back story well into the book, this was the point where he became real but by then it was too late. His character seemed to have this great potential, a grandmother who raised him, he grew up in New Orleans, fighting his way up from poverty. Sophia has a twin sister she is close to and we learn about her struggles at her job.
I would not recommend this book.
If you’re seeking a truly well-written, hot-n-heavy erotic romance with a sports angle, you must grab this one, the latest from the talented and successful Naima Simone. I found it hard to put down and finished it in couple of sittings. It was a lovely, sexy romp of a “twin swap” trope–sexy, fun entertainment on a couple of cold winter nights.
Ms. Simone does a great job with her life-of-a-football-star descriptions and setting her “mistaken twin” apart by giving her a strong personality. I was cheering for her all the way, even though some might find the innate subterfuge of pretending to be your own twin not to their liking. The sex scenes are plentiful and well-rendered and once I again I find that her writing style is one of my favorites in this genre.
Well… the title of the book pretty much sums up the story.
Add a HEA….. and tadda- done.
4 stars because the main characters were easy to like.
4 stars because it was enjoyable but nothing special.
One of the things I didn’t really like was how Naima strongly pointed out the next romance couple. It felt a bit cheap. Like a used car salesman.
I got pulled into the heat of this story quickly. Sophia was such a sweetheart even with her deception and lies to Zephirin. Her heart is a big one and she would do anything for her sister. Zephirin had his own demons hounding him, and when the two figure it all out, I had tears in my eyes. I enjoyed reading this story and recommend it.
I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
I read this book and absolutely loved it. Zephirin Black (Zeph) is a football player that has trust issues and Sophia Cruz is a computer geek but she takes her sisters place as a model. What Sophia didn’t expect was to hit it off with Zeph and even though they agreed that it was going to a one night only thing, they both want more. Can they really have more since they have lies between them.
This is a great story that I could not put down and Naima Simone did not disappoint.
SCORING WITH THE WRONG TWIN is the first installment in Naima Simone’s sexy, contemporary, adult, romance story lin. This is app developer Sophia Cruz, and Washington Warriors’ tight end Zephirin Black’s story line.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Zeph and Sophia) SCORING WITH THE WRONG TWIN is a ‘twin trope’ romance story line that follows the building relationship between professional football tight end Zephirin Black, and app developer Sophia Cruz-a woman our hero believes to be model Giovanna Cruz. Giovanna Cruz is a model who double booked a shoot with Zephirin Black and Sports Unlimited, and the runways of Milan but having a twin sister came in handy especially when no one could tell them apart. Enter Sophia Cruz, nerdy, tattooed and pierced sister of up and coming model Giovanna Cruz, and the woman with whom Zephirin Black would fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Zeph and Sophia, and the fall out when Sophia and Giovanna’s ruse of a lie is revealed.
Zephirin Black has been burned in the past, and all he asks, going forward, is honesty in his relationships but Zeph has no idea that the woman with whom he is falling in love is not the woman she purports herself to be. Sophia Cruz knows the longer she continues to lie the more likely she is about to destroy not only her heart but the heart of the man she is starting to love. On several occasions she has attempted to reveal the truth but in the end, her meagre attempts made for a less than honest romance.
The relationship between Zeph and Sophia begins as a lie; a lie meant to protect the sister she loves but a lie that will once again destroy Zeph’s faith in relationships and love. Burned in the past, Sophia’s lies reignite the betrayal of a previous love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to a number of Zeph’s teammates and friends including Ronin , Dom, Tennyson, Jason and Renee. There is something developing between friends Dom and Tennyson; and the one-time ‘friends with benefits’ relationship between Jason and Renee has placed a strain on the tight knit group of friends.
SCORING WITH THE WRONG TWIN has a little bit of everything: conflict and drama; betrayal and heart break; forgiveness and love. The premise is spicy and captivating; the romance is sexy and passionate; the characters are colorful and energetic. SCORING WITH THE WRONG TWIN is a fast paced, encouraging and heart-warming story-perfect to curl up and read on a cold winter’s night.
Dwelling in the shadows is no way to live. With an overpowering twin and a sense of self that is less than ideal, Sophia has spent her life dreaming of breaking free, but not quite sure how. When this timid wallflower gets roped into an awkward situation, her world starts to look up. Zeph is all the things she’s never wanted, yet now can’t see herself living without. Sophia has self-esteem issues, Zeph has trust issues and the secret she hides could implode what they’ve started to build together. Scoring with the Wrong Twin is a tempestuous romance with a powerful message of self image and second chances.
5 Star Review Scoring With The Wrong Twin by Naima Simone
Naima Simone is a new author to me and I have to ask myself why that is. This was a relatively quick read but one that ticked all the boxes for me.
Sophia Cruz is the shy and geeky identical twin of Giovanna, a successful up and coming model. When her sister convinces her to substitute for her at a modelling shoot, Sophia has no idea that it will change her life in ways she has never imagined. Giovanna has always been the beautiful twin, whilst Sophia was often bullied at school and overlooked as the plain , overweight twin.
Attending the shoot Sophia meets and is immediately attracted to Zephirin Black, a tall, gorgeous tight end for the Washington Warriors. Zeph isn’t looking for romance after being badly burnt by his ex girlfriend he has sworn to never trust a woman again, especially if he finds out they have lied to him. However he too is attracted to “Giovanna”, a woman he has met before but who seems so different this time. Sophia is shocked at how beautiful she feels in the photo shoot and decides after initially rejecting Zeph, to jump into a one night stand.
Zeph has no idea that Sophia is posing as Giovanna and she is terrified when their one night stand, turns into more and more. What will Zeph do when he finds out that it is Sophia and not Giovanna who has captured his attention? Will he forgive her or walk away?
I loved Zeph and Sophia, both separately and together and so wanted them to get their happily ever after. Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved Zeph’s love and devotion for the grandmother who raised him. The characters were relatable and not only was it a spicy read it was also funny.
This book had me gripped from the first chapter and I couldn’t put it down, reading in one sitting.
I will definitely be reading more from Naima Simone.
