Instints, Savannah PD Series Book1
Rachel Renee
First, I love a good mystery/thriller, it’s probably my favorite genre, so this book had everything I love reading. Eliza Sheppard is a head detective with the Savannah PD, and she has 4 male detectives on her team. They are assigned to a case that looks like suicide, but is determined to be a murder. And what a murder it was – literally no clues as to who the killer was are found. How can that be? You learn a lot about this squad of detectives, and about the personal lives of Eliza, Coop and Dan. I’m guessing this personal information will come in handy in future books. Cooper and Eliza have been best friends for I believe their entire lives, and they make great partners, as they work together easily and are almost extensions of one another. Cooper seems jealous of the time Eliza is spending with Dan, but not sure why since he has his girlfriend Heather. At times I definitely felt like Coop was interested in more than just friendship with Eliza. There seemed to be something that could be more than just friendship between them. So how will the team solve this murder when no clues were left behind at the scene? Eliza has gut instincts that are normally right, and she needs to follow those to have any chance of solving this case. There are some twists and turns and them spending massive amounts of time reviewing surveillance tapes. I had a feeling as to how this was going to go down, and I ended up being correct – maybe I should get a job as a detective! No way am I going to spoil this book for you. But if you enjoy a good mystery/thriller, then I highly recommend you picking this one up. I am very much looking forward to reading book 2 in this series. Rachel Renee is a master at writing this genre of books.
Instincts, is the first book that I’ve read by Rachel Renee. It was an addictive, page turner and an easy read. It feels like forever that I’ve read a novel so skillfully wrote. It was one very captivating, a suspenseful thriller. The author had me hanging on to each word ready for next clue to help break the case wide open. By her following her own instincts, she prevented the case from going cold. Instead she blew it wide open.
I’m looking fwd to reading, Human Nature, next in the Savannah PD series. I can’t wait to see what Detective Sheppard gets into next.
This book starts off with a murder right away. I loved how Eliza and her team worked together. This proves to be a tough murder to solve. It takes the whole book to solve the murder and slowly clues come out. There is quite a twist at the end. I was starting to get suspicious about something and the twist proved me right. The liked the suspense/mystery portion of the book. What made me rate it a 3 is Eliza just drove me crazy she was clueless sometimes and I just didn’t connect with her.
On the wholoe this was a good book with a good story line, however it was very slow reading with not very much action. It was intertwined with the detectives personal lives which did pick it up a bit. However, there wasn’t much to get your teeth into and whereas the ending was fairly good, there were still to many loose ends for my liking. It is possible these loose ends will be picked up in future books in the series though.
Intriguing novel dipped in suspense as we follow Dective Eliza Shephard as she fights against the clock to solve the murder of a younge woman. Very captivating story that held my attention and made me flip the pages of my kindle quickly to see what happens next… looking forward to the next book.
This is the first book in this series and it was well worth the read!! This story is very well written and grabs your attention from the start and keeps you invested until the ending that you won’t see coming. This has a cast of characters that are all interesting and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this book. Although it was a bit predictable at times, I found myself wanting to know exactly what happens next, to solve the mystery right along with Eliza and her colleagues.
Overall, an entertaining read for crime lovers.
I’ve really never read a crime mystery. It was intriguing. It reminded odd all them crime shows my Momma watched on TV. It’s many twists and turns keeps you hooked on reading it. It kept me interested even if it’s not my normal genre of books. Now I’m curious as to the next book.
I do love a good police mystery. Add a strong female lead detective and I’m hooked. Eliza Sheppard is a lead detective handling murders in Savannah GA. She works with 4 male detectives and has their respect. They are trying to solve the murder of a 40 years old mother of 3. There are many twists and turns and you need to buckle up for the ride. Her right hand man is her best friend since childhood is Cooper Wrigley aka Coop. They have a special relationship and I love it. This is the first book in the series and I’ll definitely be reading this series.
This is book 1 in the Savannah PD book series. Eliza is a homicide detective on a case. Everyone ruled it a suicide but she doesnt believe it. She has her work cut out for her. This is a great suspense thriller. It has so many twist and turns. I was hooked from the start.
