This overtly Christian story features great, complex characters.
The two main characters have pretty sad backstories.
They knew each other in the past… and carry over misunderstandings and misinformation from that time to their new relationships as newspaper owner and editor.
There are so many things going on, though that would spoil the fun if divulged here. You really need to read this one yourself. 🙂
It focuses on love, forgiveness, family, and trust.
Sweet, love story.
Clean, wholesome, enjoyable story.
I like Carolyne Aarsen books. Have read many of her books.
the story remind you of God’s grace and God’s ability to work in our lives we just open our hearts and our mind to the plan that he has for us I like that we all need that reminder.
Truth
What is Nadine suppose to do when she needs to get the truth out about a company when you are a reporter & editor for a small town paper. Clint come back to run his uncle’s measly & works with the girl of his dreams.
not well written, very choppy
Quite Predictable plot.
Well written. Enjoyed this book.
Nadine is my kind of heroine – lots of spunk – courageous and stubborn.
Fairly typical for this kind of book: a good story, a good way to pass some time when you are unable to move around much. Always interesting to see where the story will end.
It was an easy read
I truly loved this story. It had everything that makes a good story great. It was well written and it had the perfect mix of strong, moral beliefs without being too preachy. I loved that I could read the story without having to worry about coming across foul language or sex scenes that I didn’t have an interest in reading. It is not always easy to find a book that is has such a great storyline without the author feeling they need to add something scintillating.
Nadine had to give up a lot in her life after her father’s death and then her mother’s death. She had worked tirelessly to find the truth about her father’s death, believing that he wasn’t at fault, but that his employer had caused his death and then covered it up. For six years, she searched for details that would help to prove her case. Her job as editor at the local newspaper, helped her to air her concerns about Skyline, the company her father had worked for at the time of his death. That also meant that she continued to butt heads with her new boss, Clint Fletcher.
Clint had dated Nadine’s younger sister years ago but had always been fascinated with Nadine. She was smart and beautiful but she had always felt that she was the plain older sister compared to her younger, much more beautiful sisters. She had never considered that she would ever have a possibility of winning Clint’s affections. She used her sarcasm and wit as a defensive mechanism with Clint. She could never let him know how she really felt about him. He was a good man with strong Christian beliefs. Just the type of man she had always wanted in her future.
Nadine’s meddling grandma kept trying to set her up with men of her choice, driving Nadine crazy. Grandma also lived with Nadine because she could keep a closer eye on her that way, even though she owned a home not too far away. She needed a “fake boyfriend” to convince her grandmother that she was moving on with her life. But when that fake boyfriend turned out to be real, would she finally find what she had always wanted?
I received this book as a gift and am glad I took the time to read it.
Lovely read.
I enjoyed reading the book but strongly disliked the abrupt ending. I really wanted to know how the stories ended instead of being left hanging with no book to follow.
I love Carolyne’s writing. This started out slow but moved on to a very good story. In this book Nadine feels so inferior to her sisters she uses sarcasm to hide her feelings which creates more distance between Clint & her in the beginning of them knowing each other & later on when she meets him again. She has a vendetta against the company her dad worked for that almost destroys their relationship again. But in the end GOD works all the bad things for her good as He does in real life. We can trust Him with everything!
