DIRTY ~ Book 1
Degraded. Ravaged. Dirty
I f@ck. It’s all I’m good for.
People pay thousands just to have a taste of me.
I have to obey for the sake of my brother. As long as I’m the perfect slave, David remains safe.
A life of depravity and cruelty is all I’ve ever known … until her.
I might be damaged, but I’m not destroyed. I crave revenge for what was done to me. I have a need to kill, to feel their lifeless blood dripping from my fingers.
But I also crave her. She makes me feel. She makes me want. I just have to make her see me. The man. The fighter.
Freedom. No one is ever truly free. She doesn’t want to enslave me, but damn, I’ll willingly be a slave to her heart.
When my past threatens to take her from me, revenge and wrath burn hot through me.
She’s not just worth living for. She’s worth killing for.
FILTHY ~ Book 2

I’ve been replaced, discarded like trash. Beaten, damaged, treated like an animal, I’m forced to leave the only home I’ve ever known.
With a warped perception of what life is really like, no dignity, and no one to call my own, I’m on the verge of giving up.
But then he saves me. For the first time in my life I’m given a choice. I can stay and have a purpose again, or I can leave and face the unknown on my own.
I choose to stay. I choose to belong. I choose to become something more than damaged goods.
Hope. It’s the one thing that kept me going. At first I hoped that I would be the perfect slave, but now I hope to be the perfect woman. He’s my damaged hero.
I want him to see me. The woman. The survivor.
He gives me strength. But all I want is his heart.

This was a dark read, all right, and I loved it! I loved the dark parts the most (Do I feel bad about that? Maybe I should, but I don’t.)
The plot was really good and if you like dark reads, this will be a great addition to your collection.
Although I think there was still room to go further/darker. (Or maybe I’m just so used to the extreme dark ones that scare lots of other people off.) This was still a dark read but I think it wasn’t too much to handle. (This is nothing negative just something to consider in case you prefer the extreme.) If you haven’t tried dark books before, I think this is a good book to try out this genre.
I really enjoyed this story and its fast pace. One could think that the story was predictable and to a certain degree it might had been but there were some turns of events that I didn’t see coming, which was nice as I don’t like to know the full story right from the start.
The Story:
Jack saw his mother dying when he was a small boy. She was taken from him by his monster of a father and he now has to live in hell and has to endure the tortures from the devils his father makes business with. They pay high amounts of money and get off of abusing him and the other slaves. Jack might be strong enough to kill them but he promised to keep his brother save and he’s the only reason why Jack still lets them have their way with him without him fighting back even when it gets harder to control his anger. But then, everything changes and his anger takes over his body. Will he make it out of this hellhole alive?
Thoughts:
Jack was a character that lived through hell and had to deal with mostly dark emotions. I liked his POV the most.
River was at first an admirable character because she seemed so strong to have grown and learned from other people’s mistakes and that she tried to help the ones that were mistreated. But later on she suddenly became weak and so strange. She seemed like a different woman and I wish she stayed the stronger character in this story and not changed rolls with Jack.
The only thing that bothered me a bit was that between certain scenes, the change was too sudden. Jack grew up in slavery and I thought that his recovery was a bit off. I just didn’t buy his changes because it felt like he had not enough time and no reason to change. I’m sorry it’s just not easy for me to explain this.
Anyway, I loved his POV and as hard as his life had been, I loved to read about the dark and ugly. They were well written and I would have loved even more of them. But like I said, the change felt too weird for me. I can’t get into much detail because I don’t want to give anything away.
I liked Adam’s character and although I was shocked about something from Sophia (I liked her at first but now I don’t), I’m really looking forward to read the next book.
Dirty:
Michelle Horst is a brilliant writer! It doesn’t matter if she is writing quick insta-love smut or a gut wrenching story like this one, her words and characters leap of the page and grip your hearts and soul from the first word. I did not have the pleasure of reading Dirty in its original form, but if it was even remotely close to this then I wish I had.
This is the story of Jack who grew up knowing nothing but pain. Jack had to watch his mother’s dead body being burned and then he was turned to a life of sexual slavery by the only father he ever knew. What would have broken any person never broke Jack. The one thing that kept him going was the thought of protecting his baby brother David from the same horrible fate he himself was living. For David, Jack would do anything. However, that all changed the day River came to purchase him from his horrible life. River then became everything good in the world to Jack, but some demons can not remain hidden forever. One horrible night after being rescued, Jack is forced to face his demons and finally cleanse himself of his horrible past for good.
Horst grips your soul within the first few paragraphs with Jacks depiction of his life in slavery at the hands of his step-father. We see the true evil of the world through the stories that Jack tells. Even his own personal savior in the form of River has her own demons she must face in order for them both to be free from their past in order to find true happiness together. Horst does an amazing job in showing the pain and despair that ever character must feel throughout the entire narrative to the point that we too experience them along with them. This is not a book for the faint of heart, but if you can get past the ugliness and degradation a testament to the human spirit shows through.
I would give this story more stars if it was possible. Horst writes a story that gives us hope that even in our darkest moments, we are able to survive. If there is one thing that we need to ensure we never lose it is the hope that we can overcome the worst. Anyone that needs to be reminded of this fact, needs to read this immediately.

One night at a party, where they are meant to do anything that a Master or Mistress asks, she ends up in a room with Adam, panic sets in when Adam doesn’t want to have sex with her and she worries that she will be punished.
Adam and River turn up to the party with the intention of buying a slave to take back to the sanctuary and give them their freedom, however they decide to take both Jack and Sophia.
Confused when she is told that she is no longer in charge of the slaves, Sophia is told to see Master David, where she is severely beaten and made to believe that she has reached her expiration date, while being beaten she also sees Jack severely beaten as well.
When Sophia finally wakes she sees Adam and confusion sets in as he tells her there are no more Masters and she is safe, in a world of confusion she doesn’t understand as much as people try to explain, it’s the only life she’s lived.
When Sophia tells him how she feels and how he makes her feel, Adam tells her she can’t and she’s not ready, only after Sophia leaves angry does Adam realise how wrong he was. Sophia goes through so many emotions realising that Adam doesn’t make her feel filthy and that when she finally wants someone they don’t want her back. Adam fight the fact that he thinks he’s not good enough for Sophia and that she’s not ready for a relationship after what she has been through, while Sophia only feels rejection with not being good enough for Adam. The two battle their feelings and emotions before finally realising what they need is to support each other.
Another amazing read and a happily ever after.
