From New York Times Bestselling Author, S.L. Scott, comes a ROMANTIC SUSPENSE STANDALONE that will have you on the edge of your seat and swooning over this new ALPHA BILLIONAIRE. Six foot three. Dynamic green eyes. Utterly irresistible. Ethan Everest stole my breath the first time I saw him. He romanced me with skill, dazzled me with his charisma, and proceeded to steal my heart right after. I … heart right after.
I might have fallen for his easy-going smile the first time we met, but I fell for him the second time.
Honey-colored hair. Cherry-kissed lips. Captivatingly gorgeous.
Singer Davis was the first, and only, woman to ever intimidate me. She spoke to my heart with her wit, seduced me with her eyes, and became the only thing that made sense in a world that made none.
I let her slip through my fingers once. I won’t make that mistake twice.
Secrets broke us apart. Can a second chance bring us back together?

Ethan and Singer story is one that you love and never expect all the heartbreak you will feel throughout the pages. It’s a romance HEA but to get there they have to face very difficult situations. The audiobook is amazing and I totally recommend it.
Everest is a contradiction. It’s so hard to figure him out. And yet knowing nothing more than her makes her feel, she is swept away by him.
Unfortunately, it’s not all roses and happily ever afters. It seems the contradictory statements are making Singer crazy. And me too. Ethan Everest needs to sh!t or get off the pot. He just can’t figure out which.
Tension is high. Lust is in the air. But something bigger is brewing…
Everest has some intense moments and may or may not have made me cry. (It totally did.) It is almost a fairytale romance. I said almost.
It’s well worth climbing the walls around Everest. And she may just be the first…

Who knew one simple decision could change your life so drastically. Everest and Singer’s story was an emotional ride. I laughed. I cried. It was raw and real and I wanted then to persevere. They’re the kind of characters you root for.
I was stunned with this book. The author’s writing captures the beauty of every moment, even simple ones. It held me captive!
Everest and Singer held my heart, they were so compatible and so beautiful together. They say we have to be already happy to be able to make our lover even happier. However, I disagree, because all the books, I have read so far, have showed me that we can be a little lost in life and still have someone love us and make us even stronger and complete. That is what happened with Singer and Everest, even if along the way they had to face the weight of losing someone important in life, because no one is permanent and we just have to be thankful for the opportunity of knowing them.
I could understand a little bit of every character that took place in the story, and the homeless one made me question my judgement of the ones I pass by on the street without even looking them in their eyes. It is easier to ignore them that way. How wrong am I!
Prepare yourself because this book is going to take you on a ride.
*** I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. ***
When I read about this in my inbox of my email from the author, I knew that I have to do this as a read and review. The whole, myth, man, legend part just kind of pulled me in. I mean, that just made me chuckle and want to know more, and then I read the synopsis and I was like ‘oh god this is gonna be a heart wringer’ and it was. I experienced pretty much all of the emotions that can ever be experienced with this book. This was such a beautiful piece of writing and Scott showed how two characters can get through anything.
This is like the more modern and suspense version of a Nicholas Sparks novel. So lovely and moving, Everest makes your heart smile and also makes you want to find that lasting love yourself because afterall who doesn’t want that?
I originally downloaded the book as an audiobook that I could listen to back and forth on my commute to work. The second day was a Friday afternoon and I knew I couldn’t stand to wait until Monday, so I downloaded the book and devoured it. This is a great story with a ton of twists that you don’t anticipate and while I was reading it, I felt all the feels.
I listen to a lot of audiobooks. Too many to do more than rate them when I’m finished. When I do review a book or audio, it’s because the book moved me in some way and I feel compelled to voice my opinion. It’s rare that the light, contemporary, steamy romances pull me to my computer to type out a review. But here I am writing one for Everest by S.L. Scott.
I will admit, the first chapter or two was a little slow-going for me. I wasn’t sure this story was going to keep my interest. But that soon changed. Yes, Ethan was your typical twenty-something billionaire, or so we thought. There was so much depth to this character. He sacrificed his chance at happiness to protect his family and a girl he knew he fell for from the moment he saw her.
Ethan was right to care for Singer. Once he really got to know who she was, how could he not fall for her? She fell for him, not knowing he was rich and not caring once she found out. She saw him and the sad, troubled boy behind the wounded eyes. Together, they fight the demons that threaten them.
S.L. Scott took this story to a place I didn’t expect. This book broke my heart. I can’t say more, but I felt the pain, the losses, the tragedies. I couldn’t imagine life could ever be the same for these characters. This was no light story and I couldn’t imagine a HEA.
What I loved was how the author made the reader look at people in a different light. I live in NY and I’m in the city very often. The streets are lined with homeless. Do we ever stop to wonder who they were before they were on the streets? I guarantee you, you will when you are finished with this book. Everyone has a story – a life …before. Through the love and kindness and generosity of Singer, we learn those lessons. This is why I had to review this book. There is substance within the pages. Food for thought. Lessons to be learned. Tears to be shed. Joys to be celebrated.
I listened to this on audiobook. I’m not familiar with the author, but I am familiar with Sebastian York, the male narrator in this dual narration. I’ll listen to anything he narrates.

I haven’t read a book this good in a while. It had the right amount of sweet and hard, and it kept me reading til I was done. This was my first by this author and won’t be my last!
Loved this story! I enjoyed getting to know Singer and Ethan. Their story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I got emotionally involved with their lives, to the point my kindle ran out of battery and I freaked out. Had to recharge asap! The obstacles they face are intense and scary at times. Loved this book, SL Scott pulled me in and didn’t disappoint. Look forward to reading what’s next.
I don’t know how this author does it sometimes. I was liking the beginning but felt it was a slow burn but somehow this story just took me by storm and it just felt…. right! The author has a way with words and every time I’m dumbfounded by the way she does it; the words just make you feel everything the characters are going through. That’s one thing that makes me read her books every single time and why she has become one of my favorite authors that I’ll always one-click!
Everest has all the money in the world but the one thing he doesn’t have is love… and trust in others. His best friend and ex-girlfriend betrayed him in the worst possible way and he’s trying to do whatever it takes to get through another day. To try and take back what is rightfully his. When he first meets Singer, the attraction is very real but he can’t pursue her in a way he wants and he lets it go. Now, one year after, they meet again and sparks fly yet again. But reality is still what it is and his past is still not out of his future. And when it threatens Singer, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her from harm… Will they get a real chance this time or will his past prevent him from true happiness?…
4.5 – all around a really good read. Editing was really good – just a few misses along the way.
Ethan and Singer see each other across a crowded room… A missed opportunity…. A mess of mistakes…. Both characters are really likable. None of the whiny, angsty stuff so common these days. Ethan wants so much to get back to the missed opportunity, but as we all know, you can’t turn back the clock. So, he has to figure out how to move forward with what his heart wants, while protecting it from the reality of his mistakes. Throughout the ups and downs, the small missteps and the great tragedies, Ethan and Singer are wonderful together. Recognizing the trustworthiness and kindness in someone when you’ve been burned as badly as Ethan takes a lot of courage. Recognizing those same qualities when the world tells you not to, as Singer does, takes an equal amount of courage. Together, they take the risk and face the future.
I really enjoyed reading this one. Truthfully, I don’t think there is a book Ms. Scott has written that I didn’t like. There is substance, plot, character, emotion, and connection (and a bit of fairy tale fantasy) in this book. It is refreshing to read something that doesn’t feel like it was crafted with a cookie cutter. Enjoy!
Get ready for a slow burn.
I am again emotionally spent by this author and her words.
Singer was so genuine, sweet and deserved the world.
Ethan was…complicated.
Their meet-cute on the fire escape a year earlier was electric. The air was charged with their attraction, but fate had a different path for these lovers.
Ethan had a lot going on in his life. Although he wanted Singer, he wanted to hold her at arms length to keep her safe from the hell he’s been living for the past year.
When the inevitable happened, the sparks could not be contained. The sexy times were oh-so-hot and they were the perfect couple.
I loved the suspense and mystery element. And there were twists I didn’t see coming!
I loved this book and the complicated characters. I couldn’t get enough and didn’t want it to end.
This is a must read!
I liked this story, a little slow to get into and was too wordy in some scenes most could have easily been shorter with better impact.
Singer is a great character, however, Ethan’s indecisiveness will drive you nuts, he friends zone Singer, so it messes with her head a little.
She’s having to guess whether he’s keen or not. He has a secret none is his fault so he has trust issues. My only issues with this story is it’s unnecessarily long but I did enjoy it.
Everest is a sweet slow burn billionaire romance.
Singer is a breath of fresh air. She’s sweet and bright and a light shining in the dull New York setting of Everest. And Ethan notices her bright light and is attracted, but for some stupid reason he lets himself get sidetracked by another, less deserving woman, and he loses his chance at the sun that shines from Singer. Until he decides, finally, after having dealt with the evil woman who sidetracked him from Singer, for way too long, that he needs Singer’s light, and he makes his subtle move.
At first, like Singer, I was a little confused and felt like my head was underwater, like what was happening between Singer and Ethan was a big, muddled mess. Were they just friends? Was he just wanting someone to talk to? Did he actually have feelings for Singer? Did she just represent something shiny he wanted? Slowly, though, as Ethan opened up a little, I finally realized how he felt about her and realized he’d just been holding back for various (stupid) reasons, and that he and Singer really had a genuine thing. Through it all, there was Singer, the woman I’ve decided is my official fictional girl crush, making this whole story better, making Ethan better.
Throw in some mild suspense, more than its fair share of angst, and the sweet, sexy connection that Singer and Ethan share, and Everest finally hooked me. I wasn’t too thrilled with it at first, because like I said, I felt like I was underwater and didn’t understand where it was going, where Ethan was going, but once it picked up, I finally fell a little in love with it.
Singer, though, is definitely my favorite part of Everest. And there’s Frank, a sweet man who saves her, and Aaron, the awesome driver Ethan gifts to Singer. And Melanie, Singer’s awesome best friend. Even Lars, Ethan’s head of security. Yes, Ethan needs security (this is where the suspense part comes in), and finally Ethan. It took me the longest time to fall for Ethan. Not that I didn’t find him sweet and sexy, because he always was. He was definitely not the usual alphahole in billionaire romances these days, but he was so muddled with his intentions that I wanted to smack him more than once. But, once he finally hooked me, I could see what Singer saw in him and why she let herself fall for him. Still, though, I can’t help but think that Singer maybe, just maybe, deserved a little better, because she is awesome! She’s definitely the best part of Everest. Everyone else is just icing on her awesome cake.
Still, Everest will most likely capture your heart because it’s really sweet. It’s not as steamy as I’m used to from SL Scott, but it is sexy and Singer and Ethan’s chemistry is a beautiful thing once it’s allowed to come out from the dark. Add in an amazing secondary cast to fall in love with, and Everest ended up being a great, slow burn, slightly out of the normal billionaire box, romance.
EVEREST is a Romantic, Suspense, Standalone Novel. It starts with a painfully slow-burn romance. But when Ethan Everest takes Singer Davis out of the “friend zone” it is a speedy on to lovers fast and hot. He was protecting her because of his personal and business drama, so reluctantly had kept her as only a friend. Unfortunately they were fooling nobody, friends or enemies, and there were dire consequences.
It also is a second-chance romance or maybe a triple-chance romance. The Prologue starts with Ethan first laying eyes on Singer. If there is a thing as instant love than Ethan had it for Singer. He saw no other woman except her. “Red lips. Hair the color of a golden sunset in winter.” He finds out her name and meets her, and just almost kisses her. But his so called best-friend and business partner Keith, sends Dariya Rostavik, a Romanian model, to break up their “almost” first kiss. Ethan had no way to foresee the disastrous mistake his actions of leaving with Dariya would have on his entire life. It was a mistake that would cost him dearly.
Singer Davis had moved to New York City from Boulder, with her best friend Melanie. They shared a tiny walk-up apartment in a not so nice neighborhood. They had come to New York with high hopes and dreams. But had become disillusioned quickly. Singer has had no contact with Ethan for an entire year, but there he is just three bar-stools down. This time he makes his way over to her for the first time since their almost kiss. And so their story continues, but she has no way of knowing he has changed since the night they met.
This book has it all. It is full of suspense, mystery, secrets, friends to lovers, second-chance and slow-burn romance, sorrow, and way hot sex. Ethan was a big baseball fan, and you could say he liked to round the bases and get home-runs. Plus the Epilogue is so good! And Ethan Everest. The Man. The Myth. The Mountain. Recommend Reading!
It took me a little while to get into this one because it starts slow, but once it got going I was all in. Absolutely loved Singer and Ethan’s chemistry together.
Singer won me over from the get go because she is not just an amazing character, but truly beautiful inside and out.
Ethan will charm the pants off you, but his indecisiveness made me crazy at times. Then you get his full story and it just makes you fall even harder for this guy.
This story has all the feels in it and will win your heart in the end.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
