From best selling author RC Stephens comes a sexy, new standalone novel. The first time I met Evie Harper, she threw a cream pie at my face. I actually hadn’t met her, just saw her. It was more like she hated everything I stood for and showed me her opinion with an airborne cream pie. Yes, she smacked me front and center on my face. The second time I saw Evie, I didn’t realize she was the … the cream-pie-throwing bandit, and she took my breath away in a flowing red gown at a gala.
Of course I couldn’t resist her looks, so I asked her to dance. She called me a schmuck and stalked off.
My own Cinderella ran away from me. I shouldn’t have chased her down. We were all wrong for each other. But her fire red hair and feisty personality reeled me in, and I was hooked. Chicago’s most renowned playboy was finally falling head over loafers. At least it felt that way because she was like no other woman I’d met before . . . Evie was special . . .
Problem was I had trust issues when it came to women. Freud would’ve probably said it was my mother’s doing. Somehow Evie made me believe in her . . . trust her . . .
Big damn mistake!
One I hope I won’t live to regret . . .
But then again how could someone so wrong for me turn out to be so damn perfect?

Mr. All Wrong is the first title in a series, each book addressing different characters but that connect through the plot. We accompany Colton and Evie, two apparently different people, but by an unusual situation, and I must add creative, they end up getting closer and in the midst of so many personal and even public situations, since he is the Governor of Illinois, must decide whether the attraction between them is worth it, or whether each should go their way.
Colton has the perfect life. He comes from an important family, money has never been a problem, has charm, charisma, is the Governor, and he is on the way to be the future president. But none of this makes him happy. He feels suffocated by the weight of choices imposed upon him, choices he never questioned, but now they have become a burden. His life said perfect, in fact it is the complete opposite.
Evie is an ordinary person. She is a teacher and a single mother. Until a protest and a pie in the face put her in Colton’s focus. And she will not be able to get rid of him that easy. Colton will find in Evie a purpose for his existence until then empty and Evie despite the feelings, will try at all costs not to get involved, because in the bottom she feels insecure by her condition.
I loved the book. Colton is that easy-to-love character. He has a whole sense of loyalty, is a good friend, has an insecurity for been abandoned by his mother, is ridiculously handsome, polite and gentle. Impossible not to fall in love. Evie is strong, determined, does not slaughter easily, but still retains a sweetness that humanizes her. Her great “secret”, which Colton is slow to realize, has a great impact on her, even though she has been dealing with it for a long time, insecurities arise, as well as a sense of inadequacy. I liked the way this subject was approached, we see how it affects her, both in the relationship with her son and with Colton.
Colton’s father was the perfect contrast to this whole sweetness. His way of subliminally charging everything he did for his son and forever controlling every aspect of his life in pursuit of personal satisfaction was very well executed. The turnaround in the final part, where Colton discovers that his whole life was a lie brings a dynamicity to the book.
The characters are well written, the storyline catch the reader, the secondary characters are important to the plot and the main couple splits between moments of romance, grace and tension. Worth reading.
This book was just okay. Ending was very rushed.
Very well written it makes you never want to put it down
The ending was unimpressive and didn’t fit, the crazy driven woman gives it all up for a man…ugh
Fun read…sexy…blush-worthy!
I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down until I was finished.
Did not finish…dumb book.
Loved that the story had a deaf char@cter.
Was pleasantly surprised. Fun, entertaining and ordered next book.
Colton Mathis is the playboy Governor of Illinois and a potential Presidential candidate. It’s not the life he wants for himself, but he has been groomed for politics by his father since he was a child ever since his mother abandoned them both ruining his father’s dreams of a political career. He is second guessing everything, and when a gorgeous red-head whips a cream pie at his face protesting a historic building being torn down that he doesn’t really agree with either, Colton is smitten. When he runs into her again by chance at a gala and she calls him a schmuck and walks away, Colton knows he can’t resist trying to get to know this mystery woman who isn’t falling at his feet simply because of who he is.
When the sexy as can be governor shows up at the school she teachers at, how can Evie Harper tell him no to dinner . . . especially when he agrees to review a Habitat for Humanity proposal she is working on. It’s just one business date right? One date quickly turns into so much more when off the chemistry combines with a genuine interest in getting to know one another.
Evie’s got secrets she needs to share and Colton has a lack of trust for women in general and a controlling and overbearing father attempting to run his life. The odds are definitely stacked against these two, but how can something so wrong feel oh so right?
When I started reading this book, I thought it would be a fun and sexy read. I never expected the depth of plot and character I encountered. Colton is so much more than a playboy politician and Eve is a feisty counterpart that can definitely give him a run for his money if they can get past all of the obstacles standing between them.
This plot held some pretty incredible and unexpected twists and turns that kept me enthralled. The secondary characters were also well written and gave a lot of added dimension to the story.
I want to say so much more, but really don’t want to give anything away as each revelation in this book is a complete shocker that pushes the plot and Colton and Evie’s relationship in directions I never expected.
It’s a fantastic read and I was thrilled to find it more intense than I expected. 4.5 stars
I went into this one expecting a light-hearted, fun read – more of a RomCom. While it does have its share of wit and humor, what I found was an intense story of love, loss, betrayal, family, and secrets. The story is rather lengthy, but it is wonderfully written and the author successively sucked this reader all the way in to Evie and Colton’s roller coaster ride of emotion. Evie is a strong woman with plenty of wit and snark – a woman who has overcome her share of obstacles. I can’t say that I always liked Colton, but he did grow on me and he and Evie are so good together. With some ‘Holy Moly’ twists and a Cinderella-ish romance, this one’s a winner.
The blurb was the first thing that caught my attention about this book. I was intrigued and needed to read it. I’m so glad that I did. This was such a “special” book. Colton and Evie were amazing and their love, though confusing to them at times, was perfect. I’ve never read a book with this unique set of circumstances before. The secondary character’s were great. Though I have to honestly say I would have loved to read that Jake reamed Colton out about his “short-term interest” in Evie. This was definitely another great read by this author. OH and I love how she hints to Al’s book near the end.
