A wonderfully written novel! Interesting characters and a fantastically written storyline combine to enchant you in this novel. Although not in my favored genre, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to the next one.
This is a must read if you love fairy tales I have read a lot from this author I love them all
Wow – I am so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. I read it as part of “Quirky Blind Date with a Book” so didn’t know anything about it as I began. When I realized what the genre was, I thought it would be another self-serving / bloated YA fantasy filled with unnecessary details to get to a word count. THIS IS NOT THAT.
The author wrote in such a way that her words allowed me to visualize the story as if I were watching a movie. It held my attention from beginning to end and I never felt the need to skim or fast forward through the book.
I ABSOLUTELY would recommend this book to my young cousins AND my book club. I look forward to reading more about Jovi’s adventures!
A vividly written world and great characters add depth to a book that already gives you a different take on a sheltered princess ending up out in the world unexpectedly
King Ryan and his Queen of Orendor gave birth to a son. A frost mage came and killed the child because the King refused to give them aid in a war. The King had his sorceress curse them by ensuring their women never gave birth again. He had the cure but will refuse to give it up and so he sent the sorceress away with the secret. Twenty years later, their daughter Jovi turns 18 but is unhappy. She wants freedom and does not agree with the way her father rules. The frost mages once again cross into their lands seeking the cure. Again, the king refuses to help against the better wishes of his daughter. Cappa is a new guard assigned to the princess. He is quite different than the others. The frost mages declare war on the royal family and raid the castle one night. Cappa and the princess escape only to run into some of the mages.
She makes a deal with them that if she brings them the cure they will release everyone alive and leave. They agree and therefore her journey starts. First, she seeks out her uncle who was banned from the castle. Next, she will seek out the sorceress who made the spell and get the cure ingredients. She makes many new friends and allies along the way. The whole time Cappa is at the her side and they fall in love. But, behold the cure does not work! Therefore, she has to marry the frost mage king to bring an alliance to the fore. The sorceress has plans of her own though! She sides with the fire mages against all of them! They go to war! But, Queen Jovi has her own magic in a necklace fabled to contain ancient magic! It works! Now that the sorceress knows what she is up against she grabs Cappa and they grab Jovi! The book ends in a cliffhanger! This book is action-packed and fast-paced! It is exciting and full of new adventures and plot twists at every turn! AWESOME new series and kudos to the author! I received this book for free and am leaving a voluntary review!
This book was an ok read. I didn’t much care for Jovi. She was really immature but then again she is young. Just can’t imagine someone like that ruling.
