I loved this book as a kid, and even credit some of these creepy short stories for my early fascination with horror (which probably shaped my imagination and influenced my own gruesome writes!)
For nostalgic purposes, I re-read this book as an adult. I expected to be disappointed, the way we so often are when we try to re-experienced something we loved from childhood, but ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ somehow held its intrigue for me. I love it when that happens.
Its really SCARY!
You should read this book its super scary to tell in the dark
i love them but i haven’t read all of them .
It was bone-chilling and scary that’s why I love it.
Not a bad collection of scary stories. I’m not sure I would consider some of them suitable for most children, but what do I know. The illustrations are terrific, and spooky; I think some of them would give kids nightmares. Some of the stories were fun, some rather spooky, and some down right silly. I particularly liked the haunted house story, it was very realistic, for the most part, and the one about the guests. There was even some urban legend-like stories. All-in-all, enjoyable, and nice to read to your kids before bed, if you dare, or for some light reading for yourself before bed.
It was a really good book I like to tell these stories around the campfire there really nice
Personally its very interesting
I don’t know how to open the book s o I can’t really comment
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a great collection of horror stories! But I can’t help but agree with one reviewer who questions whether ALL of the stories are appropriate for children. Still, it’s been one of my favorites since I was a child, and it’s easy to see why it’s a classic for so many readers. To this day, the stories in this book remain terrifying and the stunning illustrations for some of them only add to the creepiness. Some stories are actually scarier than others, but everyone should find some favorites here. Some of the ones that are memorable to me include The Big Toe, What Do You Come For, The Thing, The Haunted House, The Girl Who Stood On a Grave, Alligators, Room for One More, The Wendigo, The Hook, The White Satin Evening Gown, High Beams, The Babysitter, and The Ghost with the Bloody Fingers. Clearly, Alvin Schwartz is a writer who knows how to create the perfect book for those who are looking for a good scare! Enjoy!
