18+ for language and sexual situations… something more precious. However, she misses her best friend and longs for the love they’d been building.
When a chance meeting brings the two together, will they put aside their hurts and forgive each other?
Will the jealousies of outsiders force the two apart?

Each book just gets better. This is a standalone book but is so much better when read in order. Beloved characters are found in each book. Lost love and second chances. I love that we are treated to a motorcycle gang that is family and good guys. Romance, friendship, family, a sinister threat. I read my first Dogs of Fire last week and I have since read 4 books (one out of order). Loved them all. Good people, motorcycle gang who are family, beloved characters. Bravo!
I enjoyed this book and I loved the whole series. Great characters, dreamy, sexy men and great story lines.
THESE GUYS JUST KEEP GETTING HOTTER
Carter “Ace” Quinn is not just another hot, pretty biker and member of the Dogs of Fire MC…He’s also a war veteran and ….well…a sexy alpha who has taken full advantage of his effect of women….but Ace has only been in love with one girl….his high school best friend….and because of him, she’s gone never to return….and he’s never been the same
Cassidy Dennis is a single mother who lost the only boy she ever loved when she became pregnant by a one night stand….She left town, heartbroken, and raised her son, Maverick, alone, but some time has passed, now, and even though Cassidy is still in love with her high school best friend…who she’ll never see again, so she accepts an invitation from Payton to attend a Dogs of War party…and despite their initial reactions, Cassidy and Carter reconnect…
ROAD TO ABSOLUTION is another good book (not long enough) by Piper Davenport…I am never ready for these books to end….There’s some laughter, some tears, some surprises, some action, all the feels and a lot of good reading…….This author knows how to write hot…I loved this book….
A very sweet biker story of a couple reunited after years apart following a falling out. With a strong female lead and an alpha male hero, this story has it all. Add in crazy parents, creepy coworkers, and a history between the main characters, and you’re always wondering what’s next! Keeps you guessing right through to the very end.
Aww, this was an absolutely amazing story, I love how it all flows and even though its centred around two main characters, the brothers and their ol’ ladies rally and the sense of family is foremost, oh yeah the plot was thrilling too.
This book sucked from the very beginning! One of my favorite second-chance romances to date.
Carter & Cassie have known each other since childhood, and were inseparable. Things happened, a few years apart (and that one mother has a screw loose or something, I REALLY don’t like her.) and a chance encounter brings them back face to face.
I loved how each still included the other when they were apart. And I’m not sure I’ll look at a nut and bolt the same way ever again. Now, I’m eager to dive into the next Dog’s Of Fire book!
I read Road to Absolution as part of the 1-4 bundle. It is hard to really talk about each book when reviewing it that way. The nice thing about the bundle was I got to continuously feed my new found Dogs of Fire addiction. Road to Redemption was a great precursor to book three.
Road to Absolution (formal release from guilt, obligation, or punishment) hinted at the possibility of a second chance romance (YAY!!! love the genre). It was more of a best friends get lost and then they are found. Carter “Ace” Quinn and Cassidy Dennis were best friends until Carter went to war and Cassidy went to Paris. Cassidy comes home and everything changes, everything is lost.
Payton drags Cassidy to a Dogs party. Cassidy hasn’t been out in a long time. She did not expect to bump into Carter. Things could have gone so wrong. Actually things go horribly. Then they get worse. I had to wonder if they would ever find there way.
Carter was very impressive in his determination. If one could respect and be in awe of a character, Carter is that for me. He puts on his big boy pants and does what is necessary. His actions made me giddy. Good things in the book made a bad day so much better. Even his over the top actions were cute in away.
Of course the book couldn’t be just sweet and cute. The hints in the book of Carter and Cassidy’s world collapsing kept me guessing, predicting and wanting more. The members for the MC are there to pick them up and protect them.
The Dogs of Fire MC is not just a great series but the members of the club are close to my heart. Every story is special. Every member is special. I can only hope for many more books to come.
This series just keeps getting better. Ace and Cassidy were meant to be since they were 6 years old. They finally found their way back to each other and got to start their forever!!
Love this book! Great second chance romance! Ace and Cas are a great couple, their chemistry is amazing. This is a great book in the series. If you like M/C and second chance romances this is the boom for you!
Piper Davenport just reached deep into my heart and gave me every warm and fuzzy possible.
Get ready to fall head over heels! I fell in love with every single page and spent the last few wishing the book would never end!
Nailed it! Yep, that was my first idle thought once I was not far into this story. I’ve read the first two books in the series and enjoyed them very much, but this one…there was a bit of something extra from the start. Boy next door blended with second chance romance really worked for me. I loved how the author achieved the distinct ‘before and after’ tones and the changes in the characters as maturity and life refined them. Before was the early scenes and after were those that began in the present. There were heart-felt emotions without devolve-ment into unnecessary angst. So yeah, this one felt solid and strong to me.
This is the third book in the Dogs of Fire MC series. This is one that someone might get away with getting out of order. The main characters are new introductions to the series and the storyline is new too. There are many mentions of the former MCs that already got their books as well as a few other recurring characters.
The story opens in the past as Cassidy prepares to go off to learn dance in Paris and her best friend and secret crush, Carter, is heading into the Air Force. Carter gives Cassidy no indication that he feels anything beyond friendship, but he loves Cass and plans to give her this year away to seek her dreams before he speaks of his feelings. Unfortunately, during that year apart, both make mistakes and they bitterly separate.
Carter had a tough time during his last tour of duty and suffers a bit from PTSD, but being with his club brothers including one of his actual brothers helps a little though he is known for being an angry, brooding man. It’s hard for him to go home and be around family where his mother wants to smother him and some of the rest of the family aren’t sure how to deal with his issues. Into the storm of his world walks Cassidy. They are both shocked to meet at a club party and his reaction is huge.
Cassidy never got over Carter turning away from her when she confessed to her huge mistake that left her pregnant, but now she has a beautiful son and they are getting by. She has lived quietly for years and now her friend Payton has invited her and little Maverick to get out and meet some people. Maybe she can move on with a nice guy like Payton’s husband. Only the first guy to catch her attention is a large and frightening Carter who is less than pleased to encounter her or so she thinks.
Carter never knew what happened to Cass, but now that he’s found her, he’s not letting this second chance get away from him. He never stopped loving this beautiful woman and he knows they need to clear the air before anything else. She messed up, but then he did too. The have to get to know each other again and he wants all in with her son that he already considers his. The infuriating woman gets her back up when he gets possessive and she doesn’t believe him because of it when he gets a bad vibe about one of her male co-workers.
Carter and Cassidy grew up together and already love each other so the foundation for this story has already been laid and the romance is essentially half-way developed. However, because of the big issue when Cassidy gets pregnant, its like the romance froze in time with them living separate lives until the moment they meet again. They both have changed and lived a lifetime apart in just a few years so there is also the sense of the new along with the familiar.
I think my favorite scene in the book was their reunion meeting. Holy snikies! That was hot and tense. But then there are string of adorable scenes as Carter inserts himself into Cass and Mav’s lives. Cass is hesitant and would have pulled the handbrake constantly because she has such a load of guilt and bad thoughts about herself. Mav’s birth dad messed her up when she was in a vulnerable moment and Carter’s mom added to it by laying the blame on thick where Cass was concerned. Good on Carter that he’s pretty intuitive and nips that junk in the bud. These two are good for each other having a nice balance between scorching hot, sweet and playful. Carter can get intense with his take charge alpha male behavior and Cass calls him on it just as he gets her out of her wrong-headed thoughts and makes sure she knows that he thinks she is the most beautiful woman and he makes sure she knows that he worships her body.
Scenes with Carter and Mav having father/son moments just brought out the oohs and ahs in me. I’m a sucker for that stuff. I also loved the gatherings with the other DoF families. I cracked up when Cass fell asleep on the boat and got that painful sunburn- been there, baby. Wasn’t she lucky that Carter was there to rub in the aloe and kiss it better?
So, in the end, I thought this a fantastic story and a good strong installment in the series. These are engaging biker romances that lean toward the tamer end of the scale, but are spicy and passionate nonetheless.
My thanks to the author for providing a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a second chance romance. Cassidy and Carter were best friends from the time Cassidy was six years old, Carter was two years older. Due to some miscommunication and meddling they didn’t see each other for 8 years. I really enjoyed the sweetness Carter showed as they were getting reacquainted. Will they be able to forgive the hurts of the past and make it to their HEA? On a side note Maverick and Lily were the cutest thing together. I think this is my favorite so far, I highly recommend it.
I loved this book.
Love this series and voraciously read them as soon as i get them!
