From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes a new story in her Reapers MC series… Rome McGuire knew he was in trouble the first time he saw her. She was sweet and pretty and just about perfect in every way. She was also too young and innocent for the Reapers Motorcycle Club. He did the right thing, and walked away. The second time, he couldn’t resist tasting her. … resist tasting her.
Gorgeous and smart, fun and full of wonder, she jumped on his bike and would’ve followed him anywhere. Still, she deserved a shot at happiness somewhere bigger and better than a town like Hallies Falls. Walking away wasn’t so easy that time, but her family needed her and he had a job to do.
When she came around a third time, he’d had enough. Randi Whittaker had been given two chances to escape, and now it was time for Rome to take his.
This time, the only way Randi would be leaving Hallies Falls was on the back of Rome’s bike.
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

Another solid story from Joanna Wylde. Rome & Randy make sense and I love his patience with her
I don’t think you will never catch me complaining about getting a new release in the Reapers MC series/world and even this standalone novella had me grinning and enjoying the story I got.
Rome’s Chance is the 6.6 installment in the series and the author set it 8 years after the events of Reaper’s Fire, the last novel-length in the series. As promised, the story can standalone, but long time fans do get a little page time with something of a follow up for the main characters of Reaper’s Fire.
In essence this is the story of a romance that was put on pause and gets the second chance to resume. Rome and Randi got to go on one date before a huge fire devastated the town and Randi’s family moved away. She got on with her life and he, his. Both have sweet memories of their one date and are left wondering if she/he was the one that got away. Randi comes back for her ten year class reunion and a chance to visit with her mom and youngest brother and sister who had moved back. It doesn’t go as planned. Her mom is still not stepping up any more than she did in the past so her younger siblings are barely getting by. And, there’s Rome. He’s hotter than ever and wearing an MC vest. She doesn’t know what to think about that side of his life or if it even matters since she’s not planning to touch that. But, the determine look in Rome’s eyes and his smile that makes her knee’s weak makes her forget why he’s a bad idea.
I enjoyed getting Randi and Rome’s stories. They are both good people and both tend to like it simple and uncomplicated even if Randi overthinks things. She’s had to step up and be the adult since she was a young teen because her mom’s been messed up for a while so it makes her wary of taking chances or letting herself have more than something temporary for herself.
Rome knows he has to convince her that he’s not temporary and he’s standing by her, family troubles and all, after their disastrous first date. He’s determined, but he leaves Randi the choice every time she starts to feel pressured. His patience with her was amazing because he wanted something more than to just be her good time with her which was what she kept trying to make him. He’s had his own past pain. He likes to have fun, but he’s settled with a career that fulfills and he loves, he has an extended family of brothers with his MC, and now he wants a relationship with Randi who was always the only woman who did it for him even if it was fleeting in the past.
Rome’s Chance could have been longer and I would not have complained one iota. I loved the wry down to earth tone, the spice, and the characters and relationship. This one is part of a biker romance series, but that part is minor and the relationship is front and center. It would make a great gateway book to the biker romances for newbies and is a fabulous choice for those who want a mild biker romance.
Enjoyed this sweet romance with a H who is persistent and knows what he wants. It’s really not about the Reapers MC. It’s more about a second chance love for the one that got away. At times the h did frustrate me a little but Rome hung in there. It did make me want to go back and re-read one of the Reaper MC series books. I do enjoy this author’s writing. This one is a stand alone.
Randi’s sixteen year old sister always looks out for Randi, “I put six condoms in your purse,” she responded thoughtfully. “Do you need more?” Rome is just so sweet and considerate, “don’t worry, babe. I may be a h***y b*****d, but I’ll take care of you first.” There are some things Rome takes very seriously, “everyone likes macaroni and cheese,” he said, the words slow and deliberate. “If you don’t like mac and cheese, you’re a effing lizard person, and I don’t sleep with lizards. Not even when I’m drunk. Do you sleep with lizards?” I gaped at him.” Rome can totally compromise when he needs to, “We’ll date later,” he told me, dropping back down in front of me. “Maybe next year. Until then, I’ll be the guy effing you…” I enjoyed this book, I loved how caring Rome was

Rome’s Chance is book 6.6 in the Reapers MC series. but it can be read as a standalone with no issues. I suggest reading the other books in the Reapers series just because they are amazing you need to experience them.
Rome’s Chance was just enough of a Reaper to have me wanting more. Rome McGuire has been biding his time with Randi. The first time he met her, she was young and innocent. He walked away. The second time, the fires hit Hallies Falls and forced Randi and her family to run from her home. When Randi comes back for her high school reunion, Rome isn’t letting her get away.
Rome is everything Randi remembers and more. He’s sexy. He smells amazing and he’s a Reaper now. Randi only plans to be in town for the weekend when she runs into Rome. So him asking her out has her body asking for things only Rome can give her. A one-night stand makes sense but when tragedy strikes, can Randi depend on Rome? Can Randi be the one for Rome?
I loved Rome. No one writes a sexy biker like Ms. Wylde. She has you swooning over them within a few chapters. Rome and Randi bond over similar experiences and the chemistry they have is off the charts. I loved Randi’s snarky little sister Lexi. She’s just what this quick read needed to break up Rome and Randi’s intensity.
1001 Dark Nights are the perfect quick reads. They give you a quick peek at a new-to-you author or bring back your favorites with a little glimpse. This one has me begging for a new Reapers ASAP!

Firstly, I have to say the conversation about David Bowie’s package had me talking to the book with lots of “No – really? I don’t remember that.” I ended up talking to my husband about it (he remembered Bowie’s package) and checking out clips on YouTube. How had I never noticed that? Anyway, let’s move on.
I think my favourite thing about Rome’s Chance is that shows Rome as so much more than a member of the Reapers MC. We really get to see different parts of Rome from his work to his hobbies and the guy just trying to get the girl. The Reapers are in the background for most of this story.
Randi was a down to earth, responsible woman and easy to relate to. In the short time we are with her so much happens in her life to change it completely and not all of it good. Her fun weekend to Hallies Falls to attend her high school reunion is not what she expected.
I loved Randi and Rome’s romance but for me, this story left me with serious thoughts I didn’t really want on a Monday morning but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Rome’s Chance is a solid addition to my favourite MC series and well worth reading.

This forms part of the Reapers MC series, but also stands well alone – and makes a good intro to all the goodness that is in that MC.
Though a short novel, we get to understand just how long Rome has been holding out for a relationship with Randi – and finally, he gets another chance. Sadly, there is a lot of complicated family stuff that Randi is facing, which makes their situation difficult once again. However, his persistence, his honesty, and his support show her a side to him that she did not expect. It is by turns very sweet, but also super hot. The change in tempo and in heat is well timed, and when Rome gets his chance, he shows that he is up for the task.
Strong, alpha males with big hearts are something of a feature in Ms. Wylde’s stories… thank goodness!

I am still loving the hell out of Joanna Wylde’s Reapers MC series! When I found out she was writing another novella I was over the moon. When I found out she was writing Rome’s story, I’ll admit, there was a little fangirl screaming going on, I won’t deny it.
Rome’s chance seems like a second chance romance, but that’s not what I’d call it. I’d say these two just took a really long pause in a relationship that, as it was, was already so completely new to them.
From the very first moment, Randi and Rome’s chemistry is undeniable. I had high hopes for these two and I’m so freaking happy with the outcome.
Randi is a stubborn woman who doesn’t want to get her heart broke. She’s also the main supporter to her two youngest siblings, due to her mother being careless. Randi’s situation, god honest truth, broke my heart. I felt her pain way down deep in my bones. Wanting a life of her own but knowing she can never have that, with being the oldest, is a hard row to hoe.
I knew Rome was going to be a big softie when it came to Randi, I didn’t realize this man was so damn sweet and caring though!! He was much more than what I expected!
Overall, If you all loved the Reaper’s MC series then definitely pick up Rome’s Chance. It may only be a novella but I have to say, this love story is pretty epic. It has everything I could have asked for. angst, hot sexy times, and a great storyline that kept me up half the night!
It has been awhile since I last visited the Reapers MC world, but picking up Rome’s Chance felt like slipping effortlessly back into a favorite place to visit friends. This novella is set several years after Reapers Fire and features two secondary characters from that story, but you can absolutely read Rome’s Chance as a standalone.
Randi and Rome met when she was still in high school and they had some definite chemistry but it wasn’t their time then. She was still young and too sweet for the crowd he was with, and then the wildfires forced her family to relocate out of the area so he chalked it up to an opportunity lost.
Now she is back to attend her high school reunion, and ten years has shaped them both into different people. Rome is an EMT and restores motorcycles in his spare time. Randi has managed to avoid returning to her hometown for several years, but she is quickly realizing her freedom may be shortlived once she sees how her younger sister and brother are living thanks to her mom’s deteriorating health. One chance encounter with Rome reminds her of the effect he has on her and how much she loved being on his bike, but her mind is still rebelling at the thought of returning to Hailes Falls full time despite what her body wants to say.
Rome is a great combination of sweet, hot, sexy and a tiny bit vulnerable. Randi is a bit of a hot mess at times, but at least she called herself out on her tendency to say one thing while meaning the exact opposite and then getting irritated when he can’t read her mind. Just when she finally talks herself into letting loose and having a little fun, her world is thrown into chaos and she is faced with a future she didn’t expect.
Randi’s younger sister Lexi and Randi’s high school classmate Peaches were excellent supporting characters, and there were a few glimpses of familiar Reaper faces for those who are fans of the series! I liked Rome and Randi overall, and now that Ms. Wylde has given us a tantalizing reminder of how great her stories are, I can only greedily hope she has something new on the horizon soon! In the meantime I feel some re-reads coming on…
3.75 stars–ROME’S CHANCE by Joanna Wylde is a contemporary, adult, story line in the author’s erotic, REAPERS MC series, and the latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is MC member and EMT Rome McGuire, and dental hygienist Randi Whittaker’s story line. ROME’S CHANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. ROME’S CHANCE takes place approximately eight years after the events of REAPER’S FIRE but you do not have to have read any other books in the series to follow or enjoy ROME’S CHANCE.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Rome and Randi) ROME’S CHANCE is a second chance romance between Reaper’s MC member and EMT Rome McGuire, and dental hygienist Randi Whittaker. Eight years earlier fire destroyed most of the Okanogan Valley surrounding the small town of Hallies Falls, Washington, forcing Randi Whittaker and her family to relocate to Missoula, Montana before leaving a forwarding address for the people they left behind including Rome McGuire, the man with whom Randi would fall in love. Fast forward to present day wherein Randi returns to Hallies Falls for her ten year high school reunion, a return that marks the rekindling romance between Randi and Rome, and the potential fall-out as Randi battles between her new life in Missoula, and her desire and family responsibilities in Hallies Falls.
ROME’S CHANCE is a rekindling romance story line that focuses on Randi and Rome’s attraction to one another, and the life style from which Randi continues to run. With her ailing mother, and seventeen year old sister Lexi, and nine year old brother Kayden residing in Hallies Falls, it is only a matter of time before Randi’s inevitable return forces a face to face confrontation with the man that she loves. The premise has a little bit of suspense and drama including some continuing bad luck for our story line heroine; the characters are colorful, broken and charismatic; the romance is provocative, steamy and intense (although I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines; only used once it was more for shock value than any thing else). There are some questionable misogynistic comments about reputation that in reality are often used to undermine a woman’s self-esteem, or as threats to focus on someone’s behavior but this is a fictional story line, with fictional characters including the fictional life style of the Reaper’s MC. ROME’S CHANCE is a quick read; a second chance romance for two people ready to move on from the past, facing the future together and strong.
I love Rome! He’s this mixture of alpha man, biker, family man, and he has this thoughtful, caring side.
Randi wasn’t my favorite female character. I felt she was indecisive and her mind tracked like a high schooler on their first date. In the second half of the book she grew on me and began to demonstrate the strength that Joanna Wylde heroines are made of.
The chemistry between them was off the charts combustible!! Their grown up selves were so much more interesting and I liked hearing what had happened over the right years since the fire.
I liked the premise of the story and growth of the characters. All of them, including Lexi, Kayden, Peaches, and Tinker. I’m glad we were transported back to Hallie’s Falls for Rome and Randi’s story.
And the last few chapters showed the maturity and depth of these characters.
The thing I love most about the 1,001 Dark Nights books is that they give readers a chance to find new authors, new series, or get an extra story for series they already follow which usually includes a secondary character that may not otherwise get their HEA. In this story Rome and Randi get their second-chance-at-love.
I really enjoyed this story and for me it was a great addition to the Reapers MC Series. Rome and Randi had one date several years earlier then fires came and destroyed most of the small town they lived in so Randi and her family had fled the area and hadn’t returned until now. A chance meeting in a grocery store and date two was arraigned. I must admit that I really loved these two together and I’m thrilled they were able to get a second chance. Rome and Randi had a lot of chemistry and there was no bad feelings about the way things ended the last time they were together, life interfered and they couldn’t do anything about it, but knowing that neither one stopped thinking about the other they knew they had to grab onto this second chance and not let go.
There is a bit of drama but nothing over the top, we also get to see a few Reapers from past stories which is always nice. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Joanna Wylde’s Reapers MC Series I would highly recommend this story as an introduction but be warned once you meet the Reapers you’ll want to get to know each and everyone of them so be prepared to add quite a few books to your TBR shelf. Happy Reading!!!
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
Reapers MC is one of my all time favourite motorcycle series and I didn’t realise how much I missed the gang until I picked up Rome’s Chance, this may be a quick read but that doesn’t mean it’s not jam packed with action. I though no one could come close to my love for Horse and Picnic boy was I wrong, Rome McGuire has not only come close he has taken over as my favourite Reaper.
Randi and Rome have a history and a chance meeting rekindles the flame but will the timing be right this time around, Rome knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to prove to Randi they belong together but can they get past the past.
I loved being back in the Reapers fold, I love the characters and I love the strength and depth Joanna Wilde’s alpha males have. This book has it all,it’s hot and at times it’s romantic but most of all it has characters you can’t help falling in love with, great job Joanna Wilde.
I have loved Joanna Wylde and the Reapers MC since Reaper’s Property and honestly can not get enough of them. Her novels always have a sassy women and a hot alpha male that rides hard, loves even harder and isn’t afraid to get down and dirty with the best of them. I absolutely love this series and was so excited to read Rome and Randi’s book.
We last saw Rome McGuire and Randi Whittaker in Gage and Tinker’s book. It is now eight years later and things have changed in Hallies Falls. But at one glance Rome decides he wants another chance with Randi after an amazing date eight years earlier and what a Reaper wants, a Reaper gets! Woohoo!! This book was all things sexy and amazing!!
This novel was absolutely fantastic. I loved Rome’s pursuit of Randi and his need to make her his. It was all kinds of swoony and hot and I for one can not wait for another Reapers book! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula
Rome’s Chance perfectly describes what Rome McGuire sets out to do in Joanna Wylde’s newest Reapers MC novella. After missed opportunities and bad timing, Rome is staking his claim when it comes to Randi Whittaker’s body and her heart, and while Randi’s head might not be on the same page as Rome is, if Rome has anything to say or do about, she will be, and she’ll enjoy the hell out of the ride to get there.
The fact that Rome and Randi had an instant connection proves how just how good they could be together, if only Randi would take a chance and see that their differences don’t have to be a burden on a relationship; they could actually bring a new dynamic to what they’re building.
I get why Randi is hesitant to have more than a good time with Rome; she’s not used to being around bar brawls and she’s most definitely not a motorcycle club groupie, but I didn’t like how she handled some of the situations that she was in because while I can’t blame her for being overwhelmed after she was injured on their first date, none of what happened was because of anything that Rome did, which means that even if Rome did make a bad decision to bring her to a rowdy bar, he’s just as innocent as she is, not factoring in the idea that he’s a part of a motorcycle club that is not always on the right side of the law.
Rome is definitely one of my favorite Reapers. He knows what he wants and he works hard for everything that he has, and while his lifestyle may be dangerous, Rome protects his own and he considers Randi his, which means that he’ll do whatever it takes to take care of Randi and those she loves, simply because she’s important to Rome and Randi’s family is important to her regardless of how crazy they make her feel sometimes.
There are quite a few obstacles for Rome and Randi to maneuver around and most of them deal with outside factors. One huge concern for Randi is her mom and siblings. The main reason she left her small home town was because she wanted more for herself…she wanted to be able to live her own life without worrying about her mom and her issues, so returning to the place she couldn’t get away from fast enough has to be difficult for Randi as well as the fact that her mom’s situation isn’t much better than it was when Randi was looking after her, which means something has to give or they’re all going to end up miserable.
Rome holds steadfast to taking this chance with Randi, so while Randi questions if Rome’s a distraction she can afford given her family’s situation, Rome stands by her, pushing her, at times, to acknowledge what’s between them and offering her an outlet for her frustration and her fears because the kind of instant chemistry Rome had with Randi is not something he can forget and it’s definitely something that he wants to pursue now that he has an opportunity to do so.
4 Poison Apples
Honestly, this is probably my favorite Joanna Wylde book. I’ve read her other MC books and while I enjoyed them, they tend to fall into the “too gritty/rough” MC romance category. Rome’s Chance, while hinting at that, does not. Sure, there’s a bar fight scene but Rome isn’t disrepectful of Randi and rather, is quite supportive of her. Rome and Randi have a brief past that could have turned into more if a natural disaster didn’t led to her leaving town. Now, years later, she’s back for a high school reunion and she and Rome quickly reunite. However, Randi’s family issues lead to drama and tragedy. What I really liked was the slow burn of this book. Rome and Randi clearly belong together but the family issues she has means that they need to take things slow and Rome supports that. He’s dealt with his own family tragedy in the past and is able to support Randi. Within the confines of a novella, Joanna Wylde does an excellent job of creating a supportive, believable relationship.
5 Star Review Rome’s Chance (Reapers MC #6.6) by Joanna Wylde
I am a big fan of Joanna Wylde and her Reaper MC series. This is book 6.6 in the series and is one of my favourite MC series of all time. As with all the previous books in this series, Rome’s Chance was gritty, realistic and extremely well written.
This is Rome McGuire and Randi Whittaker’s story. Every time I read a Reaper MC book, I fall more in love with Ms.Wylde’s books. Her characters are always strong, the women feisty and the men so darn Alpha it almost hurts. They love hard, play hard and there is just something about these men and their women that ticks all the boxes for
Rome is a typical Reaper MC, gritty, raw and swoon worthy. When Rome re connects with Randi when she returns to Hallies Falls, he sets his sights on her, regardless of how Randi feels.
There was drama, suspense, hot and heavy scenes and so much build up that I was totally engrossed from the start. This is one heck of a roller coaster read to be honest and I found myself both happy and sad on occasion.
My only issue was that this book was not long enough, I never want a Reapers MC story to end and this one is a novella so I just wanted more.
The Reaper’s MC will always hold a special place in my heart as they were my very first MC series. I love coming back to them and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
Rome and Randi have been dancing around each other for years. Though she was too young the first time he was able to take her out on his bike. Now she’s back in town and Rome has another chance to get her back on his bike.
Randi came home to check up on her mother and two siblings that moved back to their home town several years after a fire chased them away. Coming home showed her she wasn’t aware things were worse than she thought they’d be. As the oldest, Randi has always had to take care of her siblings. But her sister is nagging her to take care of herself as well.
One date with Rome and her world changes.
While I enjoyed these characters the book had a bit of drama. I’m sure most MC readers are used to more angst in their MC romances Rome’s Chance doesn’t have any. Of course this is a quick novella that you can read w/o reading the rest of the series. So if you’re wanting to see how this author writes – this is a good book to read to see how her words flow.
