Light fingers, fast feet, a quick wit and empathy for the downtrodden–none of these qualities will help Miss Francis ‘Flightly’ Headley fit in with Regency Society. He has no interest in either of his warring parents, but finds himself unexpectedly fascinated with his mother’s assistant.
Each believes they can bring the other around to their way of thinking. Both recognize the rising passion between them–but they are far too different, their circumstances too convoluted, for them to ever fall in love . . .

The Lady’s Legacy is one of THE best books I’ve read in a long time. Rhys and Francis are the most engaging and entertaining couple. He is such a tragic hero and I think she invented the word “plucky”. You cannot help falling in love with both of them.
I’ve been waiting for Rhys’s book ever since he was introduced in the series. And to have him linked up with Flightly was wonderful! She’s such a fabulous character, and who doesn’t like books with women dressing up as boys (I do have a fondness for them). Seeing the two of them get together warmed my heart. He was sexy, she was incredibly intelligent and crafty, and together they outwitted everyone. Hard not to like a pair like that! Great book.
A sweet, sit on the edge of your seat story with plenty of drama, romance and intrigue. Deb Marlowe is one of my favorite Historical Romance authors, she writes beautifully, with engaging characters who will steal your heart and her plot is masterfully written. Another must read by Deb Marlowe! Fans of Historical romance are sure to love THE LADY’S LEGACY. Let the saga continue!
I received a complimentary copy, however, all opinions are my own.

Trying to help her employer, Hestia Wright at Half Moon House, Miss Francis Headley travels to Edinburgh to find Hestia’s son. Her son, Rhys, has hidden away being content as an artist and doing just as he wishes. He has no desire to go back to his mother and get between her and his father’s constant battles. Not feeling as if he could count on anyone growing up he is does not want to depend on anyone. Francis, aka Flighty, has disguised herself as a young boy to try to find Rhys and as they meet, his life will never be the same!! This story is full of entertaining characters that you become very involved with and some wonderful descriptions of Scotland that make you feel part of the story. Follow the journey of Rhys and Francis and you will be entertained until you turn the last page. I have not read the rest of this series but I intend to go back and get caught up. This can be read as a standalone.
I really enjoyed this story because it isn’t the usual kind of characters. Francis is so different. She can adapt to any kind of crowd. She can be a boy or a girl. Hestia helped Francis when she really needed it and Francis wanted to repay Hestia in some way. So, she sets out to find Hestia’s son that Hestia had to give up when he was a child. Rhys is that child and he doesn’t want to be found by his mother or the man who fathered him. His father is a really reprehensible person and loves manipulating everyone. Rhys wants no part of that and he thinks his mother abandoned him for selfish reasons, so he wants nothing to do with her either. Francis sets out to get him to reunite with his mother, but finds he is much more stubborn, where his parents are concerned, than she thought. How can she convince him to see his mother and how can he convince her that he just wants to be free of all the drama of his parents?

As with all the author’s books the characterisation is very good, the plot is very well paced & takes the reader on a vivid journey around Edinburgh where Rhys is currently living & painting. Both of them are strong characters & unwilling to bend to see the others point of view, that is until a series of events make them both realise what is important. I’m now impatiently awaiting the next book in the series due to the cliff hanger. I really enjoyed the book, a page turning read that I’d recommend.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
