I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review. I have never read anything by Audrey Carlan before but I have some of her books I had downloaded previously. I am very excited to get to read and review for this great author. She created characters that we can all relate to. They are very human with real tragedies in their past. Silas might be extremely wealthy but he seems like an ordinary beautiful man. He doesn’t flaunt his wealth or position. Dara is a free spirit who learned early in life if you find something good you need to hold on with both hands. She was lucky to have adoptive parents who loved her so unconditionally. When these two meet via mutual friends it is instant attraction. Neither is looking for more than a one night stand. Fate has other ideas.
I am looking forward to going back to read the previous books in the series so I can learn more about Silas and Dara’s friends. This book can easily be read as a stand alone though no cliffhangers. Steamy, sexy scenes included. The author included interesting little tidbits about aura’s and chakra’s as well since Dara teaches meditation. I recommend Intimate Intuition.
To be honest, I read this book twice before writing my review. The first time was just for the sheer enjoyment of Silas and Dara. The second time was to analyze the book a bit more and determine what I loved so much about it. Even after my second read, I still can’t pinpoint just one reason why I loved this book so much. Rather, I realized it was the combination of many factors that made this such an excellent read. Audrey Carlan has taken a common plot, the one-night stand resulting in a baby, and execute it in a perfect and believable manner.
Silas and Dara have mutual friends, characters from the previous Lotus House books. When they’re first introduced, sparks fly and they have an one-night stand. However, a misunderstanding leads to Dara leaving the next morning and then discovering a few weeks later that she’s pregnant. While the misunderstanding with Silas quickly gets cleared up, the trauma of his past, which caused the misunderstanding, lingers. Despite that, when he learns about the pregnancy, Silas throws his all into a relationship with Dara. This book is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Dara is an awesome heroine, fiery and just yoga calm and a baker to boot. However, Silas really takes the cake (see what I did there). His past is traumatic but when he learns about the baby, he works to overcome that past and be supportive for Dara and his future child. He’s complex and fleshed-out and totally heartbreaking and a believable hero all in one.
What I especially enjoyed about this book was the lack of drama. I’ll admit, most of my love for the baby trope in romance comes from how drama-filled the books are. However, in Intimate Intuition, Audrey Carlan takes a more realistic approach. Sure, there’s a little drama with the misunderstanding in the beginning and with Silas’ family later. For the most part though, the relationship between Dara and Silas is immensely healthy and supportive. They both decide that they’re all in for this baby and for making a relationship between them work. Sure, they have issues to overcome but they address them in adult and logical ways. It’s actually comforting to watch their relationship play out. The love that grows is of course passionate (Audrey Carlan is a queen at steamy scenes) but more than that, it’s strong and binding and steady. I loved this book because of the pure beauty of their relationship. Sure, circumstance jumped-started that relationship but it became so binding and beautiful that only outside forces could threaten it. They face issues together and the roots of their love grow so strong and sure that the reader truly believes that nothing can sever them.

My Thoughts:
Sometimes Destiny brings us what Fate endeavored to take.
Our experiences, good or bad, shape our lives, our thoughts, our perceptions. Regardless of what else comes in our lives, those thoughts niggle in the back of our minds and become the cause, and the effect of our actions.
When a magical one-night stand results in pregnancy, Dara knows she’ll give this child everything, but most importantly ensure this child knows they’re wanted. Dara was fortunate to have been adopted by the Jackson’s, and given the love and support every child deserves.
That one night, with all her sexual desires quenched, Dara wakes and heads to Silas’ kitchen for a glass of water. When she flips the switch the light reveals the reality of her situation. Pictures everywhere…family pictures. Dara’s slips out in the early morning hours, disappearing like Houdini’s assistant. Now you see her, now you don’t. The magic is over, no more hocus pocus.
Three weeks of silence pass since Dara and Silas’ night of passion.
Silas McKnight has a past he’s hidden, even from his closest friend and musical talent Atlas. His last three years have seen nothing but loss and heartache. He’s buried himself in work at Night & Day Productions and the stress of it all is finally catching up with him. When Atlas suggests meditation at Lotus House where he teaches Naked Yoga, Silas reluctantly agrees.
Excerpt:
“For your first class, we’ll sit up against a wall, keeping your back flat. It helps you relax from the pressure of your back getting tired.”
“I can’t lie down?” I gesture to the person lying comfortably.
He grins. “She is a regular. She comes two, three times a week. If I let you lie down like that, you’d fall asleep. This is not nap time. It’s quiet time for the mind.”
“Whatever that means,” I grumble.
Atlas leads me over to a wall close to the raised platform at the front of the room.
“We’ll want to be close so you can hear her words. The first few times, it helps to focus on the guided meditation Dara offers.”
Dara.
That name is not common, and yet, there’s no way this is her class. Before I can question what he said, my skin heats, and prickles of recognition shimmer down my spine, prodding at my lower back. I look up, and there she is. The woman I’ve thought about every night for the last three weeks.
She’s a vision.
Her hair is lifted off her neck in a mess of braids pinned up into a bun shape. She’s wearing a turquoise flowing tank top and a pair of skintight black exercise pants. They have these cut outs in the thighs and calves where black sheer mesh offers a sexy swath of skin. Her wrists are loaded with bracelets, and a large crystal hangs down between her breasts, sparkling in the track lighting above. I watch, fascinated, as she lays out a dark-blue mat, sits down, places two bolsters on the ground, one under each knee, before she closes her eyes, places her hands together between her breasts, and bows her head.
I can’t breathe.
Her beauty slams into my being like a wall of warm light.
Enshrouding me.
Protecting me.
Loving me.
Her eyes open, and I swallow at the heavenly blues.
“Welcome, class. Today we’re going to focus on letting go. A lot of the time, we spend minutes, hours, days, and weeks wanting what we can no longer have or mourning something we have lost. It’s time for you to let that go. Whatever may be plaguing your mind, your being, your soul…” She blinks slowly and glances around the room until her eyes find mine. I can tell the moment recognition crosses her vision.
It’s like a wave of energy or two magnets reaching for the other when our gazes meet. Still, she doesn’t falter in her words.
“If it’s not meant to be yours, let it go.” Her eyes stay locked on me. “Perhaps it was never meant to be yours in the first place.”
I can’t help but think she’s speaking just to me. Every word, every utterance of her breath seeps deep into my psyche.
My heart squeezes for an entirely different reason when she says four words that could very well change my life.
“Set your loss free.”
Thoughts/Conclusion:
Dara is an incredibly strong woman. Silas, though not weak, is ruled by his loss. He’s struggled to let go and is constantly worried something would happen to Dara and the baby. Silas set out to work on that part of himself with Dr. Monet Hart, and for that I must commend him. Sometimes we know what’s screwed up with us, but making that change in our lives, for us or others, is quite a daunting task. Dara was there to support him and in the end, the plus signs kept adding up for the both of them. Their circle of friends ever expanding, always supporting. Adopted clans are really the best because you chose them and they chose you.
Sometimes what you didn’t have is what you want the very most. Sometimes Destiny brings us what Fate endeavored to take.
Audrey Carlan continues to write amazing stories about people who experience real, genuine loss, pain and great love that keep us coming back for more. Okay, maybe it’s the flaming hot sex too, but still her words touch us deeply and as readers we cheer this group of friends on as they find themselves and love.
I know through Audrey’s writing I’ve become intrigued by yoga, the chakra’s, what it teaches and now aura’s. I’ve always said her reader’s get more than a story to escape into. There’s ample life lessons if you’re open to them.
The final book in the Lotus House series, “Enlightened End,” is due to release June 26, 2018. There’s an eminent threat to Lotus House and the quaint neighborhood we’ve come to know through these true to life characters. Luna Marigold must find a way to save her legacy and the future of others too, but Grant Winters stands in the way. As fine a man as he is, he’s poised to demolish her slice of nirvana.
Grade: A++
This is another great book from Ms. Carlan. I discover Audrey Carlan’s books a while back with the Calendar Girl series and have been hooked on her books ever since. The Lotus House series is a great series and each book can be read as a standalone but you should just read the series from the beginning because it is another great series by this author.
Silas McKnight is the owner of a music production company that was started by his dad. Silas now runs the company and wants to honor his dad’s memory by making it a successful. Silas is living with a terrible loss and doesn’t want to go through it again so he doesn’t want to be in any type of relationship.
Dara Jackson is a meditation instructor at the Lotus House who also happens to own her own bakery – Sunflower Bakery. Dara, having been an orphan who was finally adopted by a wonderful couple, dreams of being a baker and a mother.
Dara and Silas meets at a social gathering of mutual friends and they are both instantly attracted to each other. They have a magical night together but Dara finds some things around Silas’ house that makes her bolt. However, destiny continues to bring them together and they can’t resist. The chemistry between Dara and Silas is perfect. Dara putting aside her feelings to help Silas deal with his painful past shows how much she cares for him. This couple was just meant to be!
“Always remember…happiness and loneliness are choices.”
Intimate Intuition is book #6 in the Lotus House series. It can be read as a stand-alone. I have not read any of the other books in the series and I was able to follow the story. First, I have to say, I LOVED THIS STORY!!! Why haven’t I read this series???? Audrey Carlan combines sexy, successful, sensual, & unique characters in this series.
Dara Jackson teaches meditation at Lotus House and owns the Sunflower bakery next door. She is fun, feisty, and intuitive. She has a special gift of seeing people’s auras. Silas McKnight is the owner of Knight & Day Productions. He is successful, confident and “ridiculously attractive.”
Although they have a lot of the same friends & acquaintances, Dara and Silas have never crossed paths. But that changes when their crew goes to happy hour at Harmony Jack’s. They hit it off pretty quickly and the spark between them ignites into an inferno. They share an intimate night that is H.O.T. I’m talking off the charts hot! Dara makes a discovery that causes her to bolt before Silas wakes up.
Silas and Dara have a misunderstanding, or three, but can’t deny the pull between them. There are issues, situations and flat out crying moments. Their story is very well written. I love the way Silas and Dara are described. I love their love of family and friends. Their journey was amazing! At times I thought “I can’t take anymore!” The emotions are high! It was such an enjoyable story!
“You planning to get me drunk and take advantage of me, Ms. Jackson?”
“You can’t take advantage of the willing, Mr. McKnight.”
I now have an even longer TBR because I am absolutely adding Lotus House books #1-5 to it.
5 stars!
Intimate Intuition is a journey of family, healing, and a second chance at love. I can’t begin to word for you how deeply this book resonated with me, and I lost count of how many times I shed tears reading it because it was just so beautiful, and so hopeful.
Silas’ backstory broke my heart but seeing how he develops and heals with Dara in this Book was captivating. And oh my god he is ultimate levels of alpha book boyfriend perfection, I spent the entire time I was reading it gripping my kindle, completely hooked and addicted, and swooning so damn hard!
Dara as a character has intrigued me and held my attention since I first read Resisting Roots, the first Lotus House book, nearly two years ago. She’s quirky and kind, and her ability to read auras was so fascinating. Getting to follow her love story, and understand her, to learn her story and how she lives her life, was wonderful. She’s such a happy, positive, and kind character that it made Intimate Intuition a truly joyous book to read.
The chemistry between this mysterious hero and unique heroine is off the charts HOT, it’s the perfect continuation of one of my favourite sexy series, and as always happens when I read an Audrey Carlan book, I felt inspired. It’s such a perfectly thought provoking, emotive, spiritual book and I think it’s rivalling Resisting Roots as my favourite lotus house yet! *gasps of horror and surprise* I KNOW! #SorryNotSorry Trent!
“Sometimes the things we love most in this world come with loss.”
This is the first book I have read in the Lotus House series and I LOVED it! I have no idea why I waited so long to read one of these stand-alones! This book had everything I crave, heart breaking ANGST! Intimate Intuition pulls at your heart strings. I cried so many times during this book. I hope you are prepared to keep Kleenex at the ready. Each page is packed with heart pounding emotion. Intimate Intuition is a true story of gripping loss, and healing to move forward. I loved the little snippets at the start of chapters. It was a great added touch to the yoga and meditation theme. Learning about aura’s, and chakra’s was also very intriguing. I was completely hooked on these characters! Dara and Silas was so magical together. I loved their chemistry and flirtatious banter. And WOW could they heat up the pages! Their story was unique and kept me captive. I couldn’t read the pages fast enough. I have never wanted a happily ever after for two characters as much as Dara and Silas.
Dara was a easy heroine to like. She could be a total spit fire, or just completely down to earth. Dara is a independent women, with a big heart. Her character brought a calming, healing force this book desperately needed. Although my heart would squeeze for her when insecurities from her past would surface.
Silas was one of those damaged hero’s you couldn’t help but obsess over. He was haunted by his past, but 100% Alpha! Silas had me melting with his dirty mouth, and possessive ways. While shattering my heart with his vulnerability! His characters developement and growth constantly evolved from beginning to end. His journey to happiness left you no choice but to love, and admire his character.
*4 & 1/2 STARS* Intimate Intuition is a heart warming story of healing and happiness that leaves your heart feeling warm and full.
*I voluntarily read a advanced copy!*
Once again yet another outstanding book by Audrey Carlan, this time following Silas McKnight and Dara Jackson.
Meet the handsome Silas McKnight Silas is the owner of multi-million-dollar musical company called Knight & Day Productions. Silas’s extremely rich, very attractive, and loyal right down to his core. Silas’s the man that every woman wants. Silas won’t let them have him. The reason being is that Silas has suffered such immeasurable losses. Now Silas doesn’t ever plan on going through or wants to go through that hell again.
The sweet Dara Jackson. Dara is very quirky, and the totally stunning meditation teacher at Lotus House Yoga. Dara’s also the proud owner of Sunflower Bakery nearby. Dara’s true dream was of her
being a baker. Oh and in second place is for her to become a mother. Dara grew up as an orphan. Dara only knows too well the feeling of being unwanted and totally alone in this world.
Suddenly as if by chance Silas and Dara meet and spend a romantic and perfect single evening worshipping and getting to know each other’s bodies. Everything is going so beautifully that is until Dara discovers a secret. This secret shocks Dara so she gets up and disappears before the sheets have even cold. Dara and Silas are bound to be come more than friends let alone friends with benefits. They are to become way more intimate than they ever expected.
Can Dara confess her secret to Silas before one of the other members of Lotus House figure it out and tell him?
Can Silas forgive and give his relationship with Dara a chance or will he not forgive her for hiding a secret that could change his whole life?
Namaste
Love this series. Great characters. Love how the characters get friendship and love
I absolutely loved this book! Definite must read!
Silas and Dara are proving that you can’t fight what’s meant to be. Dara was instantly drawn to the powerful presents that Silas McKnight exuded the night that lead to the most sensual and erotic night of her life. If she hadn’t been scared off by the clear presents of his family in his home, she would probably still be steaming up the sheets with the man. She does have one thing to remember the night by though, she’ll just have to wait nine months for it. After a tragedy stole away his family, Silas closed himself off from the world. Losing your love and your unborn child is enough to break anyman. Being with Dara is the first time in 3 years he has felt anything and when she leaves without a word he is mystified. Discovering her pregnant it’s like the universe is granting him a second shot at finding his bliss and Dara is the perfect woman to share this journey with.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
Silas and Dara , this is their story ! It is the continuation of the Lotus series . This is my first book in this series and I loved it !
Silas and Dara indulge in one amazing night together , when Dara awakens during the night she is surprised by what she finds in his home. She quickly leaves without a trace or explanation . Silas is confused when he finds her gone in the morning after what they had shared. A misunderstand that needs to be straightened and so much explaining. This book is filled with every emotion you will be subjected to the emotion spectrum !! Is their a chance to rekindle what they had that night and make it so much more or is it too much for both of them !!??
~~Michele McMullen
This is my favorite book in this series so far!
An absolutely beautiful story of healing. Letting go of the past. Moving on from loss. Finding amazing love and their ultimate destiny.
Audrey always delivers impeccable writing paired with characters that are developed to perfection. Our hero Silas and heroine Dara in Intimate Intuition are among my favorite of all time. They were made for each other. And although life has thrown them more than their share of loss and pain – the way their story unfolds — utterly flawless! These characters gah I am blown away. Dara is intuitive, beautiful, fun loving and patient. Silas is a hunk, head of the family business, worships Dara and completely adores her. However he’s carrying serious baggage from his past. Dara is the perfect person to not only form an immediate attraction and bond with but the one person who can recognize his pain and help him through the healing process. She is the sunlight to his perpetual state of the darkness.
At the beginning of each chapter we get definitions of Chakras and auras. So incredibly fascinating. I want to learn about meditation. Color me intrigued – if Audrey still teaches these classes, I want to sign up!
This book was amazing. It had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. It’s starts off with a big announcement and keeps you interested from the get go . Dara is a total free spirit who knows her body and can use her talents to help others control there’s. When she has a one night stand with a hot drop dead man by the name of Silas she finds her it hard to look away from his handsome face . He is the herd of a big music interprise and she is a yoga instructor doing Meditation classes. And when he shows up for one of her classes she knows he had demons to battle and she wants to learn him how to deal through meditation with his demons.
You will cry and have your heart tourn out on many occasions and you will laugh at other times it’s one of those books where you keep a Kleenex close by at all times . There is so much love and heartache that you want be able to put the book down. But I think you will love as much as I did and in the process you will learn some important stuff about yoga , meditation and how it can heal your mind, body and soil. I definitely think it’s a 5 read . Well done Audrey. Can’t wait for the next book in June . I voluntarily read a Advanced Copy!
This was the 6th book in th Lotus House series. While they are standalones, I highly recommend reading them all. This was the story of Silas McKnight and Dara Jackson. Silas and Dara met one night while out with friends. There was instant chemistry between them. After one wild night together, Dara realizes her life will never be the same. While Silas hasn’t been able to get Dara off his mind, his past still haunts him and he struggles with his strong feelings for Dara. This story had me feeling so many different emotions! Silas has suffered so much loss in his life and works day and night to make Knight & Day Productions all it can be after taking over after his father passed. Dara owns her own bakery in her families business and also teaches meditative yoga. Seeing the way Silas treats Dara, and how she helps him to deal with his past and learn to love again was such a beautiful thing. The relationships the characters had with their friends Atlas and Ricardo had me laughing at times too! You really got a sense of who the characters are based on their relationships with their friends and family. I would highly recommend this story!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This series is awesome! Every book is amazing and I can’t get enough.
Intimate Intuition is book #6 in Audrey Carlan’s Lotus House series. This is the story of Silas and Dara. Dara is one fierce heroine. She has a strong mind and heart. Silas is just surviving after a loss no person should ever have to go through. My heart broke as he warred with his heart on moving on to a new relationship with Dara. This one has all the heat, desire and passion that I have come to love about this series. Not only this but the story is full of all the feels, emotional scenes and a gripping storyline. I really love how Audrey has included her love and experience with yoga in this series. It adds a uniqueness to the storyline that I love. It is hard to believe that there is only one book left in this series. I will be sad to see it end as I have come to love these characters so much.
I loved this whole series. Wish it could go on indefinitely. Cute writing style, likable and well defined characters. Loved learning about yoga, meditation, chakras and auras.
This is my first Audrey Carlan book, and my first time listening to Diana Luke.I was drawn to it because of Jakobi Diem as the narrator. Now I have a new author to add to my list, as well as a new trusted narrator.
Audrey Carlan wrote a beautiful, emotional story. Silas and Dara are great complements to each other, and they each are a little bit fragile from an emotional perspective. I like that Silas took the time to work on his emotional state before he continued to pursue Dara. I also like that Dara was confident enough to know that she may have to go it alone for a while, but she also knew what and who she wanted in Silas, and she was willing to give him the chance to feel ready and confident in what he brought to the relationship.
The narration by Jakobi Diem and Diana Luke was really a great enhancement to the story. They both performed very well, funny when they needed to be funny, steamy when they needed to be steamy, and emotional when they needed to be emotional. I really enjoyed their performances.
1/2 STARS.
So this was essentially a very well written good read and though in my opinion, you can definitely read this as a standalone; I do think that on a whole you would probably get more from this if you read the whole series from the start.
For me, this was my first experience with this particular author and it was a mostly positive endeavour.
There were just a few minor irritants, that were mainly just personal preferences and I will explain further later.
So as I said earlier this was a really good read.
It contained very relatable characters that were extremely easy to bond with.
A great supporting cast.
Was told from duel pov, which is my absolute favourite and just works for me.
It also managed to read as a stand-alone without the information overload that some series seem to convey in an effort to make it such.
I was easily caught up in the narrative here and ultimately most importantly equally invested in the eventual outcome.
Now for my minuses; I’m not a big fan of a certain popular romance trope used here and I wasn’t aware initially that “Intimate Intuition” featured this particular trope at its very centre.
Obviously, not the author’s fault: so really should be commended on the engrossing read this is as I still enjoyed this heaps and usually this trope is like a red flag to a bull for me and turns me right off.
I also wasn’t a big fan of some of the dialogue used here.
I’m not sure in real life if this way of talking and slang is what is most often used.
having zero exposure to this culture I’m commenting blind here people
But, I just wasn’t a big fan of the whole baby-mama etc talk, wasn’t my bag at all.
I also felt the first half of this story was overly featured on the whole moving forward thing and I would maybe have liked more focus on Dara and Silas again just my personal preference.
So despite my personal aversion to the trope used here I still found this a great fascinating read.
I was quite intrigued with the whole aura reading, yoga and meditation angle.
Never having any exposure to this type of experience I found it rather compelling and fascinating reading.
Not sure I’m an actual convert yet but it definitely added an extra dimension and unique flavour to the whole entire story.
And I should also mention this was a very emotional read with plenty of personal growth but also red-hot scenes of intimate connection for both Dara and Silas.
Surprisingly this was a lot more action-filled than I was expecting.
But I was on the fence a bit to whether this was actually necessary or added much to the book.
Got to say know “Intimate Intuition” has one of my favourite ever epilogues as its finale.
Really adored that.
So swings and roundabouts folks.
This was at its centre a great read, but I still had some slight reservations that managed to pull it down a bit for me.
I am still happy to recommend this especially if you’re looking for a romance that’s packed with emotional baggage but also still has a willingness for personal growth.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Intimate Intuition (Lotus House #6)” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
