Miss Mechanic is a stand alone Rom-Com with a Enemies to Lovers vibe. It has a snarky heroine, a sarcastic hero, rude family members with no boundaries, no cliff hangers, no cheating and a HEA. This book is full of errors, drama, angst, cussing and you will get overwhelmed with the constant bickering between the H/H. The cover, title and epilogue is what lead me to this book but unfortunately I was left disappointed.
My 1st by Emma Hart… Not a bad storyline, had a few holes and flow issues, lots of filler side story. While there was some witty remarks I would definitely not call it hilarious. I will read this author again.
Another phenomenal read from Emma Hart!
I have read every single novel written from this author, and each and every one of them is just as, if not more captivating than the last. This novel is definitely no exception.
I love that Emma is doing the whole gender switch within this novel. She writes some bada** women who are able to be sexy, sassy and strong all at the same time.
I cannot say enough amazing things about this novel. I already want to go and reread it so that I can experience the story all over again.
5/5 Stars!
*3,5-4 stars*
Another great book by Mrs. Hart!
Loved the fun, sassy Jamie a lot and her best friend is just hilarious. That was definitely one of the high notes for me when it comes to Miss Mechanic. The chemistry Jamie had with Dex was off the charts and sometimes it felt a bit too much but think that’s a part of what made the story work too. Can’t wait to see what the author brings out next!
Jamie is looking for a new job as a mechanic but nobody seems to want to hire her because she’s a woman. Although she’s one of the best in town and has all the experience in the field, nobody is willing to give her a chance. Then comes along Dex, who is trying to find someone to work at the new shop and its even the old shop of Jamie’s dad. At first Dex doesn’t want to hire her but there’s just something about her that makes him give her the break she needs, although it’s on his conditions. Along the way of trying to prove herself to him and their attraction getting more and more palpable, maybe they are just what the other one needs…
Emma Hart girl you have done it again! This might only be the second book I’ve read from this lady, but I think it’s safe to say that she has gained a brand-new “stalker” from this gal.
Miss Mechanic was yet another hilariously funny and addictively sassy romantic comedy. It is definitely true what readers say, “EMMA HART IS THE QUEEN OF ROMCOM!” This story came at just the right time because I needed an escape from reality and a good laugh thanks to the stress of finals (oh the life of a college student). Let me say that the book did just that and so much more. Once again I found myself intensely captivated by a story, which I managed to devour in only a few short hours. Trust me when I say that the second you pick up this book, you aren’t stopping until you reach the end.
If this gorgeous cover doesn’t reel you in, then the second you meet Jamie Bell and Dexter Ryne you’ll be booked. These two have an undeniable chemistry right from the start, but of course it wouldn’t be an good enemies to lovers tale without a little bit of drama with a whole lot of sexual tension. Working together side my side just got a lot harder (pun totally intended).
And don’t even get me started on those secondary characters…
If Aunt Greta’s hilarious antics don’t put a smile on your face then something is clearly wrong with you (no offense or anything, but I still can’t stop laughing when I think about her). Oh and we can’t forget Haley, Roxy and sweet little Charley (dang that little girl sure knows how to kick you into shape).
Dang. There is so much more I want to tell you about this story, but then I think I can just say…GO & FREAKING BUY THIS STORY NOW. Do it. Seriously drop everything you are doing right this second and fall in love with Jamie and Dex today!
fun read
Dex is all about the honesty, “actually, I was going to give you a hand in the hopes I could touch your ***.” Dex has no filter, “I groaned and turned around. “What do you expect me to do? I tell you yesterday I’d love to eff you, and now you show up to work looking like that.” Jamie and Dex have got some crazy family members, “oh.” Aunt Greta tilted her head to the side. “As long as you used protection.” I loved this book, I adored the characters and Dex and Jamie were really made for each other
Miss Mechanic …what a fabulously funny, sassy romantic comedy!
The perfect enemies to lovers tale. Dex and Jamie cannot be more alike. They each want to be the top dog . Dex has just purchased the local garage in town that Jamie’s dad sold. This left Jamie out of a job and Dex the proud new owner needing help!
The moment they meet the witty, sexually charged banter will have you laughing. They are constantly sparing but soon the brooding Dex realizes a few things and that may be a game changer.
Jamie has never met a more infuriating man and that has her in a tizzy and ready to prove her automotive skills while verbally sparring with him at every turn. Jamie soon realizes that yes he irritates her to no end but …does she actually kind of enjoy being around him….if he isn’t speaking LOL.
Loved this feisty, sexy, funny romance!!

Cute
I’d give it 4.5 stars. This is a fun friends to lovers romance. This is a quick read with a lot of laughs.
After her father is forced to sell his garage, Jamie Bell is in need of a job. Being a female mechanic, however means that most potential employers won’t even give her the time of day, let alone hire her for more than a receptionist position. When the person who bought her family’s old garage is looking for a mechanic, Jamie figures she’ll give it a go.
Dexter Ryne finds himself in need of an assistant. When his grandfather purchases a garage in a small town, Dex has no idea exactly what he’s in for with small town life. When the person he’s interviewing shows up looking like sin, he knows he can’t hire her even if she is a mechanic. When she verbally baits and challenges him, however, he finds himself with a new assistant – at least for a few weeks until he can prove she can’t hack it.
Jamie has three weeks to prove her worth. Dex has three weeks to make sure that Jamie doesn’t become a permanent fixture in his new shop. While the verbal insults and sarcastic rapport flies, so does the sparks and chemistry that seems to come to a boiling point each and every time Jamie and Dex are alone together. While both are determined to be the winner in their bet, the prize seems to change into something neither saw coming or will easily accept.
If you are a fan of verbal foreplay, Miss Mechanic is the perfect read for you. The banter in this book was off the charts with sexual innuendos and sarcasm which makes for some fun dialogue between Dex and Jamie. While all that is happening on the surface, it’s a thrill watching them start to come to terms with their attraction and, dare I say friendship, for one another.
Emma Hart did a fantastic job giving the story some comedic relief with both Dex and Jamie’s family as well. Jamie’s mom is a meddler through and through and her best friend is a riot. Dex has a stubborn grandfather, a whiskey peddling great aunt, an in your face sister and an adorable niece who has no problem telling it like it is while she uses kid friendly curse words.
This is a light hearted read. It’s got a very high steam factor and lots of laugh out loud dialogue. If you are looking for a serious or deep plot, this is not the book for you. If you want to lose yourself in two sexy mechanics who take verbal sparring to an entirely new level, snap this up and start reading today! 4 stars.
Good
Jamie and Dex were a hilarious couple serious laughs as I read this book! The sassy snarks, the jokes and the fights plus the sexual tension? It made the story really interesting and it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat!
Emma Hart brings us a new and fantastic new book with Miss Mechanic. I was laughing my behind off so much with the antics Jamie and Dex were putting each other through. I knew these two loved to get under each other skin. The burning of attraction was just right there every time. The background of the story makes the relationship a bit shaky when Dex meets Jamie. But I loved the love and hate these two had. If they weren’t tearing each other apart, they were certainly tearing each others clothes off.
These two had amazing chemistry. My favorite part of this book would have to be when Jamie’s mom walks in on Dex in a towel! Standing in Jamie’s kitchen while she was in the shower. What happened next was hilarious! I could not take my eyes off the pages! A must read that will make you laugh, swoon over, and get a little over heated!

Gender bend romances open up the idea that the woman, or the man, in the story is going to be in a position in life that is uncommon for their gender.
In this case, Jamie is a female mechanic and Dexter (Dex) is the owner (well, he is in charge of the day to day operations) of the shop that used to belong to her family. When Jamie first meets Dex, he is surprised she is a woman and he really doesn’t want to hire her in the shop. Yes, it is because she is a woman, but Emma Hart handles this in such a way as you don’t think that it is that Dex thinks she isn’t smart enough to do the job, but rather that, in his experience, a woman is not serious enough about being a mechanic to work in the “back of the shop” and this makes him reluctant to hire her.
I liked that Dex isn’t a “women can’t handle it because they are women” kind of man, that he has issues (one woman in the back of the shop couldn’t lift a tire) that he has witnessed that have made him concerned. And, this is a fine line…but it works. If he is concerned about reality (women are not always as physically strong as men) and not that she is a woman, then this becomes an issue. I know this is a lot about this, but it really speaks to the strength of the writing of this title, that Emma Hart takes a topic that could get mired down in stereotypes and handles it not only realistically but in a way that doesn’t detract from the personality of either character.
Now that the serious parts are out of the way, we can talk about the romance, and the heat, the attraction and the humor of the relationship with Dex and Jamie. I love that they argue, that they spar and challenge one another…to the very end. It works for them, and really it is foreplay.
The book is funny, and it is light and quick paced overall, but there is enough seriousness in it that you feel there is a story between the sparring, the heated glances, and the sex. I did want a little more of the resolution in the story and not moved into the epilogue, but this did not detract from the story, it is just a preference of mine.
I recommend this book, I enjoyed it, it was sexy and fun…while giving just the smallest underlying message that women shouldn’t be written off just because they are women in a traditionally male job.
Use your head, follow your heart and know when to keep them guessing. Ms. Hart is a feisty mama. Her heroines kick *** and have the smarts to back it up. It’s not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. Miss Mechanic is a brilliant salute to girl power. It’s sexy, funny and addictive entertainment. You can be sure the engines aren’t the only overheated objects in this firecracker of a read.
