Wedding the Widow by Jenna Jaxon is book Two in The Widow’s Club. This is the story of Elizabeth Easton and James ‘Jemmy’, Lord Brack. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Elizabeth has been a widow for about a year and still feels the loss of her husband. But she meets Jemmy who she started to desire and he to her. Although Jemmy just returned from service thinking nothing of marrying starts to grow strong feelings for Elizabeth…but can he get her to start thinking in the lines of something more between them?
Enjoyed reading their story!
While I enjoyed the first book in this series, I really liked this book. Jemmy’s perseverance is a lot more than most men would go through to marry the woman he loves. I had a hard time with Elizabeth’s standoffishness during the first half of the book but over time I liked her more and more and realized she was like that only because she felt she was hurting Jemmy. I have never read a book where more things could go wrong in a short time period with trying to get married. If one more thing happened, I would have thrown in the towel. Loved Jemmy and this story was very nice.
So there are little hints of the next book and maybe the next?

WEDDING THE WIDOW, book Two of the Widow’s Club series by Jenna Jaxon, is heartwarming romance when widow Elizabeth Easton meets Jemmy, Lord Brack. Is she ready to love again or let the memory of her dead husband stop her? Falling in love is easy, getting marry not so simple with a scandal looming, and their families bitterly opposed to the match. Jenna Jaxon brings conflict into the mix of emotions, humor, and love into her Widows’ Club series. WEDDING THE WIDOW is all about love overcoming obstacles. I received this complimentary copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Wedding the Widow by Jenna Jaxon is the second book in the Widows club series. I have to say, this book was even better than I imagined it would be. The story completely captured my attention and held me captive until the very end. I absolutely adored the characters and their chemistry. Jemmy and Elizabeth were easy to like and I found them to be very relatable characters. They were not perfect and they had flaws. I loved how real they seemed. This story was beautifully written and has love, loss, second chances, and a happily every after. I thoroughly enjoyed this story!
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Jemmy and Elizabeth met at an house party and had a heated meeting with consequences. These two have to fight a ton of obstacles in order to be together. I did admire how hard they fought to try to be together. I did enjoy the story it was well done.
Elizabeth is still grieving her husband’s loss. However, Jemmy seems to make her feel things she hasn’t felt in a long time. Jemmy is as taken with Elizabeth as she is with him. His determination to win her love is amazing and unique. Usually in historical romances it’s the opposite. I loved Jemmy he’s totally swoonworthy and even though there are many hiccups along the way he doesn’t give up. He’s patient, kind and loving. Elizabeth is confused. I couldn’t imagine losing my husband and learning to go on. She handles it with grace. The two have an undeniable, explosive chemistry that could singe the corners of your ereader.
If you enjoy a wonderful historical romance with a hero that will sweep you off your feet and a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat I highly recommend reading Wedding the Widow!
Enjoyed

My Thoughts:
Although I enjoyed the first book in this series this one didn’t grab my attention as much.
The hero is great and very likable; the heroine not so much. There is maybe too much conflict between the two and although the attitude of the heroine is understandable she just put this reader off.
Although they each can be read as standalone titles it is maybe better if read in order so you do not become lost.
I gave this book 3.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 2.75 of 5.0 flames. Intimacy is not the main point of this book.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the author via paperback and digital version through Netgalley.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
An extended house party gives the opportunity for Lord Brack, Jemmy, to pursue the widow, Elizabeth Easton. Passion took them both by surprise, eventually necessitating marriage. Only Lord Brack finds himself in dire straights when his father refuses his consent and threatens to cut off his funds.
Less obstacles and a stronger heroine who could say “NO,” would have been my preference.

Jemmy, Lord Brack, plans to defer matrimony in favour of carefree pleasure. However after a night of passion & despite their mutual desire, Elizabeth refuses to consider his proposal.
This is the second book in the series but could well be read on its own, however the characters do overlap. I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the book & thought everything was straightforward but then past grievances started to make themselves known & the second half turned into a melodrama that at times really stretched my belief. The characters were well portrayed & whilst I liked Jemmy, Elizabeth annoyed me no end & several times I wanted to shake her, I also questioned her love of her twins, what type of mother forgets about her children for 2 days! I was interested enough to complete the book but whilst I will read the rest of the series I won’t reread this book
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I received an ARC of this book from the author. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Mrs Elizabeth Eaton was married to her beloved Dickon for 7 years, until he died at the Battle of Waterloo. She was then forced to move back to her parent’s home with her twins. About a year and a half later, she is so devoted to her husband’s memory that she has no intention of ever remarrying, but she does not like the way her mother has taken over the raising of her children. Meanwhile, Jemmy, Lord Brack, the brother of one of her closest friends, Georgina, has returned from a grand tour, and despite no plans to marry any time soon, he is so taken with Elizabeth that he pursues her. However, wooing and winning her is one thing, but dark forces, try to keep them apart.
I did not read the first book, (which I will now have to remedy), so read this as a stand alone. The author included enough content to follow the plot. The author weaves artfully developed characters into a fast pace plot with quick-witted dialogue and a very unusual resolution.
I didn’t read the first book in this series so I was quite lost with the relationship between James “Jemmy,” Lord Brack and Mrs. Elizabeth Easton. This beginning of the book doesn’t explain much of their previous encounters. I felt like I missed some important factors into each of their’s current state of mind. Elizabeth spent so much time mourning her deceased husband that I was surprised when they fell into bed together so quickly at the beginning of the book. I also thought that Jemmy’s father was just so outlandish in his threats. Perhaps there are men like that, but I didn’t enjoy his machinations at all.
There are lots of twists and turns in this book and I did read until the end just to see how everything was resolved. Unfortunately, this wasn’t one of my favorite books.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review and I was not obligated to leave a review.
Wedding the Widow by Jenna Jaxon
The Widows Club #2
At the Harvest Festival Elizabeth and Lord Brack seem overcome by lust, do the deed and then she tosses him out of her room. Why? She is still grieving, sort of, for her deceased husband. She spends time grieving and angsting and such as he wishes he could be with her. When she realizes she is in the family way and he finds out they realize they love one another but there is one big blockade to them finding happiness…his father. As the story unfolds we learn of why Jemmy’s father is against the marriage and how the two end up having a HEA.
I found that Jemmy seemed immature at times as did Elizabeth and I found that I had trouble relating to them and why they were attracted to one another. This is a rather predictable historical romance with a couple that do end up together and yet at the end I was more interested in finding out about Jemmy’s sister and other widows than the fate of this couple.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books – Lyrical Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
2-3 Stars
Widow Elizabeth Easton seems very unlikely to marry again after the loss of her husband at Waterloo. But fate often takes a hand and in this case in the form of Jemmy, Lord Brack. Having suffered years in the war himself, he is only looking to remain carefree. But when he meets Elizabeth, all those thoughts quickly leave his mind. A mutual attraction erupts and Jemmy wants to marry the beautiful widow but she does not even want to consider his proposal.
Can he change her mind? As things progress there are a few twist and turns that kept the story entertaining. Looking forward to the next installment in this delightful series.
