Never trust a man who answers the door wearing nothing more than a pair of low-cut jeans and a panty-melting smirk. That should’ve been my first sign.I write about guys like him for a living—sexy and charming, yet reluctant to get into a serious relationship. His body is the ultimate temptation, but his condescending personality makes him a classic bad boy.And I want nothing to do with that.… nothing to do with that.
Writing romance novels comes with its perks—traveling, meeting new people, creating characters from the voices in my head—but Ethan Rochester enters my life and rearranges my preconceived notions about writing what inspires you.
Meeting him was fate, but falling for him was inevitable.
And forgetting him will be impossible.
This is a complete STANDALONE novel — filled with plenty of humor, steam, & romance! 18 & up only due to explicit sexual content, language, and adult content.

I’ve been wanting to read a Kennedy Fox novel for a while. I am so glad I did. I am hooked! This story was so addictive. Vada takes a vacation to get some writing done. She rents a cottage. The owner of the cottage turns out to be sexy potter Ethan. He has that bad boy vibe that Vada knows she should stay away from. It seems like it’ll be easy to her at first since he seems to be a jerk. But quickly she can’t deny the attraction. Especially when he offers to hook up, no string attached. Ethan is haunted by the loss of those he loved in his past. That’s why he doesn’t ever go past hooking up. He thinks Vada will be like the other women. He is so wrong. Pretty soon he can’t get enough of her and he is breaking his own rules. The past always comes back and a misunderstanding happens. Now Ethan is chasing down Vada because the one thing happened he thought wouldn’t again, he fell for her. This book was so good. It hit my heart hard. It also cracked me up. Ethan had me almost crying with some of his comments to Vada to get under her skin. I was rooting for this couple. I was legit scared when I didn’t know if they would repair what they had. I can’t wait to read more from these authors!
This was far from the worst thing I’ve ever read, but there was enough here to annoy me pretty thoroughly.
Plot overview: Feisty romance writer (Vada) with trust issues and writer’s block rents a vacation guest house from cocky, smirky artist (Ethan). Lots of sex ensues.
First of all, I’ll start with the good stuff. Other than a few missteps, I liked Ethan. He was mostly a decent guy. He had some inner damage that was totally understandable, and I get why someone like him would be reluctant to get involved in a relationship. I felt his pain. The writing itself wasn’t bad, either. Pacing was decent. None of the book seemed to drag at any point.
But then the cliche bingo started…
1. The romance writer who needs a man with a magic penis to cure her writer’s block
2. Sexy southern guy who always walks around shirtless
3. Sexy southern guy who teases “stuck up city girl” for kicks and giggles
4. Sexy scene with a pottery wheel. (Sorry, but that scene should’ve died with Patrick Swayze. He did it great. Why try and recreate it?)
5. Romance writer uses relationship with the magic penis as inspiration to write her book, which, of course, becomes a huge bestseller
6. Evil, scorned “other woman” lies to heroine, heroine believes her, then heroine runs off without talking to hero to verify evil, scorned other woman’s claims
7. Anal sex that doesn’t require actual lube. Because of the magic penis, I guess?
Then there was this stuff…
1. Ethan doesn’t know Vada at all, and yet feels the need to “rile her up” by dropping ridiculous amounts of sexual innuendo. In real life, Vada wouldn’t have ever stayed in Ethan’s rental, and she might’ve even sued him.
2. He watched her masturbate while she had no idea he was watching. Did the rules change at some point, making it OK to spy on a woman? I know everyone thought it was funny when it happened in Porky’s (it’s an old movie, kids…look it up), but it was still a horrible invasion of privacy, even back then.
3. And while we’re talking about the spying…Vada just flops down on the bed, naked, and masturbates without looking to see if her blinds are open? Who does that? (No one. That’s who does that. No one. You at least glance at the blinds first.)
4. At the risk of being a little spoiler-y, when Vada runs off, Ethan doesn’t go after her. He very passively tries to get her back instead. A REAL romance hero would’ve gone after her. He wouldn’t have passively waited around FOR A YEAR, hoping she’d come to her senses.
5. At the risk of being a little spoiler-y again, why is it always the woman in the romance novel who is expected to leave her home town in order to be with the hero? Ethan could do pottery anywhere just like Vada could write anywhere. Would it kill him to say he’s willing to follow her back to Chicago if that’s where she wanted to be? He never even considered it. It was just a given that if she wanted to be with him, she’d move from Illinois to South Carolina.
So, long-story-short, this one wasn’t my cuppa. It wasn’t poorly written—just annoying. Or maybe I’m still just grumpy about how Game of Thrones ended. I dunno…

Love the characters and believed love will change everything.
I enjoyed this book until chapter 19 when Vada became stupid. She ran away and stayed away from Ethan for a year, and he waited for her! Her “issues” are stupid, and I couldn’t stand her at this point.
Personally I didn’t care for all the _uck word used throughout the book. It was an ok story.
Vada is romance writer, booked at a cottage in Charleston for the week to get her writing done. Ethan is the cottage owner – the two exchange sassy words and comebacks – that lead to a whole lot more. A sexy, fun, read with a heartbreaking story underneath. Ethan doesn’t fit the “bad boy” mold for me – although he is blunt with his language. I also didn’t fully believe the part in between but did enjoy the beginning and the end.
I loved this the amount of heat was perfect with a bit of drama and humour
4 stars
This is the first time I think I have ever read a book where the main character is an author. It was kinda fun because I couldn’t stop to think about how much of it was true from the author’s own lives?
Ethan kinda came off as a dick, at the beginning and it took me some time to warm up to him. He was just to cocky (yes that can happen) and was a little too arrogant for my like. But when they started to get together and I started to feel the chemistry between them.
But then of course Vada had to go and get annoying like 70% in the book and make me get irritated at her too. So now i have been annoyed at both main characters and that made me like the book a little less. I loved the story and what the authors wanted with this book. But i just needed the little ekstra and i am kinda sad that Eathan and Vada just annoyed me sometimes beacuse if I would have loved them, I think i would have gived this book 5 stars.
I totally loved this book!
Brooke Cumberland and Lyra Parish are a force to be reckoned with both alone and together. These two woman have a captured my soul as the duo Kennedy Fox but I was not prepared for what was waiting for me when I picked up My week with the Bad Boy.
Vada is a writer that can’t write. So she runs away from all her distraction only to run into another on in the form of the sexiest guy she has even seen in her life, Ethan. Ethan is a bad boy with a devastating past, but when these two lay eyes on each other sparks flew and these two were passenger in the ride toward their happily ever after.
I devoured this book in a few hours. I laughed, cried, and even screamed as I read it, but couldn’t have asked for a better ending. In their typical fashion Parish and Cumberland have left me begging for more. I can’t wait for the next installment. I am officially a life long fan of these two. Together, separate, or even as Kennedy Fox; if these two write it I will read it.
I love the story and how their path was not straightforward.
Absolutely loved this one. Some sad moments in this one. But it was a great book. Fast paced with some hot moments . Enjoyed the story line and the characters who have some great chemistry
This is for the audio version.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Would you consider the audio edition of Falling for the Bad Boy to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version but I enjoyed this edition so much that I don’t know that I want to actually read the book. Especially after coming across the animals and Ethan’s aunt.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I don’t think that I can choose between Vada and Ethan so maybe I will have to choose Ethan’s aunt Millie. She says what’s on her mind and it may be because of her age and that her filter is gone – which is good for us. You can’t help but laugh when she appears.
Which character – as performed by Joe Arden and CJ Bloom – was your favorite?
At least with this question I don’t have to choose. Joe Arden does a great job with Ethan Rochester. Have to love the innuendos. C.J. Bloom does a great job of bringing Vada to life. Had to love where she was getting her inspiration for her latest work.
Any additional comments?
I loved listening to this book from beginning to end. Our narrators were perfect in bringing the author’s work to life. If you’ve not listened to them before than this will make you a fan. Maybe you live for those happy endings – you’ve found one here.
I can see myself taking a trip down south, staying at a cottage by the beach, and listening to this book as I feel the ocean breeze skim across my skin. Then when I take a walk I want to keep my eyes open for Millie and Henry. Will also need to see if I can find Ethan’s shop – need to bring some of his work home. When I got to the end, I was ready to listen to more of our narrators, and see if there are any more of the Bedtime Reads in audio.
I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.
3.8 This is a sweet romcom story. Vada is a writer that’s looking to finish her most recent story and while away on a little escape she comes across Ethan. This man is so much more then meets the eye and when we’re finally told the personal deep layers he tends to keep hidden OMG! There were moments where I felt myself dragging a bit but then when I got back on track it was full force non stop. I’m curious to what’s to come in the future as to other characters, seems as though we’re given a little taste to something in the works. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
What a heartwarming love story; two souls falling for each other when neither was looking for love. Ethan and Vada each had their own baggage, Ethan’s a little heavier than Vada’s. I loved how they came together. Ethan’s cockiness surprising Vada into doing something that she normally wouldn’t do. I first thought this book was flowing to well and I kept wondering what was going to happen. Then I got my question answered and I was shocked and a little irate. No questions were asked, no one was confronted! And then it took that long? I was dismayed but I knew in the end that these two authors wouldn’t leave us hanging and for that I was grateful. This was a great book and a good reminder that love can happen when we least expect it but that no matter what it also takes work and understanding.
