I received a free copy of this book and I chose to review this one. This is the first book that I have read by Connie Dave but it will not be the last one. This was an easy read but take it slow you will miss some of the story. I enjoyed this book and I think you will also. This one is worth your time and effort.
I’m her debut novel, Ms. Dave gives us, her readers, a beautiful romance written with much love and care. Her very likeable protagonists, Faith and Ben, who had to overcome some of life’s sorrows and tragedies before they could accept the unlimited love and joy surrounding them, are beautifully developed in this story. The secondary characters embody all aspects of friendship: fun, loving, annoying and loyal. I’m glad this is a series because I cannot wait for their stories to be told.
Finding Faith is full of love, yet contains secrets, trust issues, illness and body image issues, and not just for women this time, but men as well. As a matter of fact, I think men should read this book. It’s ok not to always be macho and to accept the love, comfort and support from the woman who loves you. Brava, Connie, on your most excellent first book!!!
There is always hope in Bedford Park!
I absolutely loved this story! Both of the main characters, Faith and Ben, had realistic backgrounds that many people could relate to. But pulling us into the story this way, the author compels us to go along with Faith and Ben and see where their realtionship can go. They fall for each other, and after a medical setback and reaffirming their feelings for each other, we get our HEA. You’ll love the main characters and hope to see some of the secondary ones again! Feel free to be drawn into the world of Bedford Park!
Connie Davé’s first novel is poignant, heart-warming, and a glorious celebration of life.
I have been reading small-town romance for well over a decade, and I’ve no doubt Finding Faith will stand out in my mind a decade from now. For a first novel, there is a surprisingly strong author’s voice present, which lures you into the small town of Bedford Park and creates a tangible world you might just wish you could live in, too. The supporting characters are given just enough attention that I was left longing to know more (given that this is the first in a series, hopefully I will!), but not so much that there were conflicting narrative threads. The main characters were written with so much love and care: this novel feels personal, like a memoir, and hopefully you’ll feel as I did – that we have been granted access into a very private world.
I am so glad I stumbled upon this author just as she was about to release this book.
N.B. Don’t be misled by the title: this is not a clean Christian romance; there are a few mildly steamy bits!
Faith Sorenson moves to small-town Bedford Park after living a very secluded, entitled life with her parents. She had been taught that appearances are of utmost importance. After finding her fiancé and her best friend in the throws of rapture, she dumps him and decides to leave. Her mother insists she give the louse a second chance, but Faith stands strong. She also changes her own life to fit herself vs. pleasing her parents. However, her upbringing and past experiences has made her determined to avoid all men but especially the type of man that goes through women like water.
Ben Reynolds lives in the house next door to Faith. He has a reputation, although, it is uncalled for. Ben had a rough childhood as he was asthmatic and he was constantly bullied for being weak. As he grew into a man, his asthma disappeared and he started working outside. He trained to be an architect, but after living in a city, he decided to move back to Bedford Park and started working with his friend renovating homes in the area. He enjoys working with his hands vs. always being indoors.
Faith and Ben’s relationship start by smiling at each other as they see the other in their neighbouring yards. Their dogs are friends and Faith and Ben take the plunge to grow their relationship. A medical situation occurs which scares Ben and Faith, but Faith is a strong woman who shows Ben that she loves him for the man he has become over time. As the struggle through the medical situation, Ben acts like an idiot (I wanted to bop him over the head with my Kindle!). He eventually sees the light, and Ben and Faith get their HEA.
I really enjoyed this story, and I loved reading the interactions with all the family and the closeness of the friends Faith discovers in Bedford Park! I know the next book will be equally engaging!
I highly recommend this book! It will make you laugh, cry a bit and give you all the feel goods you want from a HEA book!
I was provided with an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review.
