Coopers: 2, Turners: 2The Coopers and Turners are tied in the battle for Chance Creek’s Founder’s Prize, both families desperate to own the ranch that will be awarded to the winner. But Steel Cooper also needs to right the wrongs his father committed before he died in prison—and convince Stella Turner to marry him, despite a hundred years of animosity between their families. He’s willing to give … willing to give it his best shot—but when disaster strikes Chance Creek, his best shot might not be enough to save anyone, let alone the woman he loves.

As hard as it is to say goodbye to the characters in a series, Cora Seton has ended this with a bang – now read it to see if that was a literal one! Steel has been on the periphery in the other books, literally hiding in the shadows. The Coopers and Turners are still in competition for the ranch that has the water rights that can save their ranches – and old resentments still flare occasionally. Steel has loved Stella Turner since school – and that hasn’t changed, but have his (apparently dodgy) activities steered her into another man’s arms? To me, this is an exploration of what it means to be a good man, a man that places the good of the many over his own good and his own ego, and Steel is that good man. This is a book that it is hard to write about without giving the contents away, so let me say only that, if you’ve read any of the other Cooper vs. Turner books, you will want to read this one. It has an epilogue that will leave you feeling better about life.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series by Cora Seton. Every single book has been captivating and entertaining with incredible, well defined characters and a fascinating story line.
In this final episode Steel Cooper and Stella Turner finally get their happy-ever-after, but it won’t come easy. Steel has been keeping a secret for many years and he isn’t sure anyone in his family, the town of Chance Creek, much less Stella, can ever forgive him.
We will finally see the culmination of the challenge facing the Turner’s and Cooper’s to win the Settler’s Ridge property and the much needed water rights that go with it. And there may even be a few surprises we didn’t see coming.
I received an advanced copy and freely offered this review.
This was a great way to wrap up the series! There was the continuing story of the founders day prize, but that was pushed aside for an exciting twist. I loved getting to see the real Steele. I also enjoyed the wrap up at the end, and finally finding out about Jed and Virginia’s past
The Turners and Coopers have been feuding for a hundred years, or so it seems. Recently, the families have become entwined with the younger generation marrying. This is the last book in this series, so there is backstory that mentions many characters from other books. As a fan of this series and this author, I enjoyed the interactions from past characters, but if this is your first venture into the Turners vs Coopers series, that’s ok, too! The story moves along and there is just enough drama to make you keep turning the pages. I’ve wondered what Steel was up to for a while, and this book is his story. I enjoyed this fast-paced look into the culture of Chance Creek and Silver Falls, and I liked the surprises along the way.
The final book in Cora Seton’s Turners vs Coopers series is well worth the wait! A murder mystery to solve, a family feud to end, enemies to lovers, surprising twists and a love story between the most secretive and elusive Cooper–the gorgeous Steel–who’s nursed a secret passion for the amazing Stella Turner. Swoon! A perfect ending to an awesome series!
This final entry in the Turners vs Coopers series featured Steel who always seems to be on the wrong side of the law and Stella that wants to be a deputy. Not exactly what you would think of as the perfect couple. However, not all is what it seems. This was a great way to wrap up the series. I especially liked at the end when we got a chance to see what is going on with all of the couples in the series four years later. An enjoyable romance with a touch of danger and a couple of surprises thrown into the mix.
What a great way to bring this series together! Steel and Stella, the last two holdouts from the Coopers and the Turners (or are they!)
Steel is a deputy for Silver Falls Sheriff’s Department (but no one knows that) and he’s working undercover trying to find what he thinks is a serial killer, killing young girls from nearby. He believes that his dad was also working to find this killer before he died and the killer went quiet until recently.
In the meantime, Stella is trying to figure out how to pass the physical test to become a deputy while working on an idea to win the Founder’s Cup and more importantly critical land.
Even though, Steel seems to be a “creeper” praying on young girls, Stella can’t help but be drawn to him and him to her. But nothing is as it seems when another girl that Steel just met turns up dead.
This one kept me turning the pages, not only to find out who was the killer but to read would Stella and Steel be able to sneak away and get their happily ever after. It turns out, they’re not the only ones sneaking around.
I LOVE how Cora Seton tied everyone’s story up in the end for us to see what everyone’s been up to! I will miss the Turners and Coopers!
I simply loved this story about Stella and Steel. There was a mystery to be solved and a family feud to finally be put to rest. Not only, was there a great love story between Stella and Steel ,but we finally find out the reason for the feud that was such a major part of this series. I loved that we got a glimpse into the future of all our favorite couples from this series. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would recommend it. I was given an arc. This is my honest review.
Just who was killing these young girls and trying to make it look like suicide. Steel had been undercover for three long years and was desperate to find out the truth. He watched Stella from afar wishing he could be her boyfriend and tell her the truth about his work.
What happens with their relationship and does Steel stop the killer makes for a very well written and intriguing story which I enjoyed.
I hate it when a favorite series comes to an end! In this final installment of the Turners vs Coop-ers series, we are returned once again to the small town of Chance Creek. (Gee, I want to move there!) Steel Cooper and Stella Turner are the only two members of the two families that haven’t paired up and they appear to be opposites. Stella is a receptionist and dispatcher for the Chance Creek Sheriff’s office and Steel is kind of sketchy and possibly growing and dealing drugs. But, the two of them have known each other since they were kids and now they have siblings that are married. I really enjoyed the fact that we finally got to really meet and get to know Steel in this book. With Stella, you always seemed to get what you see, but not so with Steel. I always sus-pected that he had a lot more going on then was suggested. But, since I won’t spoil it for you, I won’t say more. What a ride! Drug dealers, dead teenaged girls, a possible serial killer, overdos-es, oh my! AND I loved the ending that tied up so many loose ends that we may have guessed through this entire series. Perfection!
There’s nothing better than a feud that’s full of twists and turns and secrets that beg to be uncovered. The one between the Coopers and the Turners that has them battling for the Founder’s Prize is just such a feud. And each of them seems to find a way around the feud to find true love.
But to be honest, I have been waiting for Steel Cooper’s story since the first time I read about these two families. He’s got a bad boy persona but hides a secret passion for Stella Turner, who seems to return those secret feelings. He’s a man who appears to be on the wrong side of the law, and she’s determined to become a deputy on the local police force. The epitome of “opposites attract.”
The author did such a fantastic job of bringing this series to a fitting end. The characters are so full of life and color, and the action is nonstop and consistently taking the reader to the next level. She has a way of turning the tides and changing the way the reader assumes the story will go. And I enjoyed these stories so very much. It’s tough to see this set end, but I look forward to discovering what comes next in the continuing saga that is Chance Creek.
As with all of Cora Seton’s book, this book is so well written. It pulls you into the storyline within the first few pages, and doesn’t let you loose until the very end. Things are not always as they may appear, is one of the lessons we learn in this book. Just how far will one person go, to find a killer and solve a mystery that started years before. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.
An enjoyable book. It was a little different than what I had expected, but not in a bad way. It seemed that things between the characters were a little rushed, but only if you haven’t read the full series because they’ve had a few stolen moments before. There was a good suspenseful part, and the reason for Steel being/doing the things he has been. Stella doesn’t sit by though, she ends up being part of it and they come out strong together. There’s a nice ending to see how everyone in the series is doing.
Ending a series is hard. The final book in the Coopers vs Turners was a nice way to end it, though. It has the two eldest giving in to fate while also solving a mystery. I loved the ending and review of all the couple.
Steel is working undercover to solve the case that his father was working on, but nobody knows & they think that he takes after his father of being a crook. Wants this to be over so he can live in the open & not in the shadows & he could be the women he loves. Stellar is in the arms of other man but wishes it could be Steel but she knows she can’t be with him is she’s going to be a Deputy, not with him on the wrong side of the law.
This book is full of twists & turns with a killer on the loose!
