As with all of Mr. L’Amour’s books, the characters were interesting, the settings were informative of the era, and the plot development well thought out.
I grew up reading Louis L’amour, absolutely LOVE anything he has written.
Fast read, original, exciting
I have read all of his books and now starting on the books that material that was recently discovered. When I run out these I will start all over again from the first.
Like all of his books, outstanding.
Couldn’t put it down!
I liked how responsible a seven year old boy could be for a three year old girl. It was very enjoyable read.
Great adventure story equably suitable for an adult or teen audience. My daughter and I both enjoyed it.
Loved it. I have and read all his books
I liked this book. It was refreshing to read outside my usual genre.
Enjoyed the read. Rooted for the characters. Believable characters. Even the three year old. You grow up quick when you’re born of a farmer or rancher.
Not one of his best.
ok
This is one of my favorite books by L’Amour. Something about the survival aspect.
Louie L’amour is not on my normal reading list but I got Down the Long Hills because it was cheap, my deceased father-in-law was a fan and I was thinking of him at Christmas, and I like survivalist stories. Turns out it was better written than I expected with good dialog, scene-setting, and a sparse style that I like. I enjoyed it and will probably seek out more. I would have preferred it to be a bit longer but that might be a good thing for his fans.
Please note that I reserve higher ratings for outstanding reads. If you spend four- and five-star ratings too easily, they mean less.
You can’t miss a day of entertainment with a Louis Lamour book. This book follows along the line of other books by this author and always great. They are my favorite.
Very authentic, action packed western. A great read.
Loved this book and any age group could read it. Hard to think that this could be a very true story because things like this did happen.
