Tara Babcock awakes the morning after her 30th birthday with a hangover that could kill an elephant – and the knowledge she is still no closer to achieving closure on her marriage breakup. Things go from bad to worse when she discovers that, not only is her ex-husband engaged to her cousin – Tash, the woman he left her for – but that Jake is also running for Lord Mayor of Sydney.
Desperate to leave the destructive relationship behind and with nothing to lose, she decides – with encouragement from her three best friends – to follow the dubious advice from a magazine article, Closure in Seven Easy Steps.
The Seven Steps to Closure follows Tara on her sometimes disastrous – always hilarious – path to achieve the seemingly impossible.
A credible and amazingly touching debut novel from Donna Joy Usher, this is a solid, light-hearted and honest read with plenty of laughs.
“The Seven Steps to Closure’s heroine, Tara, is an endearing character and her entertaining journey to closure is packed with laughs and plenty of heart.” Tonya Plank, Shirley You Jest! Book Awards judge and author of ‘Swallow’.

Very amusing how she goes about mending her broken heart!
Every girl needs to find happiness and a way to get over a jerk! Quirky plan that actually worked!
Enjoyed it so much, I giggled out loud even on my second reading!
Above average read, I loved the concept and was immediately drawn in. Enjoyed myself from start to finish. A modern story with universal truths.
It was good. Worth the couple of hours it took to read.
Had me laughing out Loud! Very entertaining.
Quick easy read that made you feel good!
Seven Steps of Closure is a great book. You’ll love it.
Too long, too much slang and too little character development. I really tried to like it, thank goodness it was free.
Well organized story line. Good character development.
Laugh-out-loud hilariously funny!! Extremely well written with great characters!! I highlighted several sentences just so I could go back through the book and laugh when I am in a foul mood!!! Donna Joy Usher has been added to My List of Favorites!!! A definite Must Read!!
Predictable, but enjoyable
Loved this. Easy read
Fun, light reading.
I’m not usually that crazy about romance novels. But this one is well-written, funny, and I liked it a lot. Not the same old same old. Spunky heroine, not whiny.
A light book to read on vacation perhaps. Nothing heavy or gripping but a light and entertaining book.
This is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while. I really liked the characters and the basis of the story. I liked how it developed. And I literally laughed out loud many times while I was reading it. It got to the point I couldn’t read it in public for fear of bothering others nearby.
Tara is still heart-broken because he husband left her, a year ago. Her friends read an article in Cosmo on how to get closure and decide she will do the seven steps. Tara just goes along with whatever they tell her to do. She gets into some funny situations and gets the guy in the end.
This is an ok book. If you have nothing else to read …
