The world outside the cities went to hell a long time ago. When pollution got so bad it burned away the ozone layer, humans built protective domes in order to survive. Now, between the radiated air and the fighting among dragons and phoenixes, it’s not safe to go outside.I’m a transporter. Self employed in a dangerous world, delivering valuable goods from client to recipient. But I never take on … never take on the more lucrative dome to dome jobs.
When someone breaks into my apartment looking to hire me, I refuse flat out. One, I don’t like being forced. Two, the job requires leaving the dome. Three, the package is a sun-sick kid. Half-human, half-phoenix and I’m supposed to take him back to his phoenix family. Oh hell no!
But the client reveals he knows my secret, blackmailing me into a job I don’t want with stakes that grow higher each day.
I have to take the kid straight through the Dragon Lord’s territory. Everyone knows that’s suicide. Coming face to face with the dominant, sexy Dragon Lord reveals the truth about my heritage and puts me in more danger than I knew existed.

This is the first I have read from the author Nadia Hunter but I have read all of the Red Planet Dragons of Tajss series so I knew that I would like this book. This is a new series and boy oh boy the world building is out of this world. I love the fact that it revolves around Dragons, Phoenix’s and Humans. There is a touch of dystopian feel to the story line as we are seeing that the world is now in a mess and humans have to live in a protected dome. I can not wait to read more into this series!!
One big happy family, not. Take one sorta human female, add in a sorta human little boy and send them off into the desert back to his family. The twists and turns are many, there’s some definite drama but there’s also a hunky sexy dragon too. Add in the family history lesson that doesn’t happen until the end of the book and you have an intriguing tale.

Mia Hill lives in the Dome City as long she could remember. Her mother used to take her out in the sun just for a little bit, then she would go back, everything had to be a secret to survive. Her mother died when she was twelve, then she was in foster care, then the streets. Jobs under the dome we’re scarce, so Mia invented her own business the Mia Hill Delivery, a courier service. The client would put the package in the briefcase, she would never know what it was. One job turned out to be something she never experienced, except the money was phenomenal. Her package is a sun-sick little boy.
Ashur Jah is a Dragon Shifter plus he’s the Dragon Lord. He was deadly if you crossed him, anybody that crossed the Dragon Territory was subject to fire. Then he met the courier.
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Mia is not quite as human as she wants her fellow dome dwellers to think she is. With a mixed heritage of human, Phoenix and Dragon, she is living under the radar and trying to grow her courier business. With Earth pretty much irradiated, the Dragons and Phoenixes live outside the Domes and the humans leave them to it.
Mia is blackmailed into taking a fellow mixed heritage child to his Phoenix family. But to do so she has to go through Dragon territory. When she and her young charge are given “hospitality” by the stated Dragon lord, she gets more than she bargained for! He may just be her mate.
Dragon Lord Ashur is a fair but fierce ruler. He looks after his Skein well and doesn’t know what to make of the feisty female who has landed in his home. But as they spend more time together he realises she is his mate, but how will she react to his declarations!
This was a great read. Mia is independent, strong and capable. Ashur is Alpha, muscled and used to getting what he wants. Add in convoluted family dynamics, Machiavellian parents and a cute as a button kid and you have yourself a winner! My only grumble was it kind of ended on happy for now rather then HEA. Roll on book 2.
