Book #3, Demons on Wheels MC series. As always, Ravenna Tate excels in this third installment of this series!
When your life’s filled by so much heartache that you’re crushed, when all trust is shattered, when nothing’s left but pain, where do you go? What do you do? That’s Kayla Romanowski’s dilemma. After a lifetime of pain and trauma, she may just have found her place. She’s a dancer. It’s her one talent. When she shows up at Scotty’s Place, she’s thrilled when she’s hired on the spot. There’s just one hitch. This club’s like no other. It’s a self-contained community. Everyone’s expected to pitch in, do “more” than their job description. And Kayla’s not sure what that “more” exactly entails, much less if she can handle it. From the moment Kayla walked into Scotty’s, Dan Treadstone (a/k/a Mastema) felt like he’d been hit by lightning. But she’s pushed him away and shut him down each time he’s come near her. In fact, she’s shut down every other Brother of the MC. Kayla soon realizes she’s not fitting in at all. Will she be allowed to stay? Terror fills her at the thought of losing yet another job, returning to her former life. When Kayla finally decides to take a chance on Mastema, she learns the MC’s secretary is more than just hot and sexy. He’s genuinely a nice guy. But both Mastema and Kayla are hiding secrets. While Kayla struggles to fit in at the club, trouble comes calling, right through the front doors. The entire MC and those surrounding them soon find themselves in the middle of a war they just might not be able to win. Who’s behind the sabotage and double-dealing? What does anyone have to gain from the ensuing chaos? As events unfurl around them, Kayla and Mastema have to dig deep within themselves. Can either find the strength to open up to the other? It won’t be easy, not with so much uncertainty and turmoil surrounding them! Even if they can, will it make a difference? When all hell breaks loose, can the MC and Scotty’s survive? More importantly, can Kayla and Mastema finally pull down the walls they’ve built? Can they save each other? It’s a monumental task with no possibility of success without trust and hope. Will they succeed? Or will everything come tumbling down around them?
Ravenna Tate’s incredibly talented. The mere fact that I’ve fallen in love with this series is proof of her gift. The motorcycle club genre is not one I’m normally drawn to. But Ms. Tate’s characters, storylines, and detailed descriptions of every aspect of the MC lifestyle demonstrate her incredible writing ability. There’s intrigue, suspense, and, of course, erotic romance, throughout this book. I loved the plot and settings. But what really makes this story special are Kayla and Mastema. Their rocky start, their heartrending pasts, their struggle to move forward…all these captivated me. Their relationship tugged at my heartstrings in ways I never expected. The tension, joy, terror, pain, possible love, and ultimately the care and warmth of family are real. I felt I knew these people intimately. The relationships in this book are what hooked me, none more so than Kayla and Mastema’s. I give Mastema’s Obsession my highest recommendation. This is another impressive book in a series that’s surprised me in so very many ways. Thank you, Ms. Tate, for giving us another look through the windows into this intriguing lifestyle!
One final note. Please be an informed reader and consumer! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, think hard before buying any book you know you won’t enjoy. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers’ websites. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author! She works extremely hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to the book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
