Deep cover was incredible mix – thriller meets romance. I love these kinds of books..they have you sit on needles the whole time and still be afraid of what happens next. For those who loves to chase criminals, it’s definitely the right read.
The plot deals with more criminal cases entwined in one another. Human trafficking and money laundering. What an brilliant idea to put these both together and the best? The growing love.
Former SEAL, owner of security agency, who is lost in the feelings and sadness of his past, meets FBI agent on a mission. Finally she helps him to wake up from his funk and althoug they can’t be more than colleagues while on mission, he sees the very light at the end of a tunnel. He sees he can try and maybe love again.
She wants to habe the same love her parents once shared. The chemistry between the two of them is totally spinning out of control. Le sigh!
So what can I add more? Absolutely not a thing.
Maybe just say it was another exceptionally well written story from Scarlett Cole’s pen and could be read as standalone.
I truly loved every second.
Deep Cover is the third book in The Love Over Duty Series and is an interconnected stand-alone novel. Deep Cover follows the story of Cabe and Amy. Cabe is the guy you can always count on when you need him. When called to duty, he’ll never let you down. When his fiancee passed away, it nearly destroyed him. He will face his biggest challenge to date when he gets paired up with FBI Agent Amy Murry. Even though Cabe may appear to be the strong, silent type, there is more to him than meets the eye. The stakes are high and sparks are flying all over the place. Will Amy be able to resist Cabe? Will they be able to keep things professional and solve the case?? There’s only one way to find out…..
Deep Cover is my first book by this author and overall I thought it was an ok read. I was really intrigued by the story-line and the characters. I wanted to know more, though I will admit, the first part of the story did move at a slower pace than I would like. Since the story is not told from the first person point of view, I will admit that I was distracted. With so many characters and the different pov type, I found it hard to concentrate on the story. 2nd & 3rd Person POV is something that I personally struggle with, but do try my best to overcome.
Anyways, I liked Amy and Cabe together. Amy was smart and witty. She challenged Cabe and made him want to have a life again. And Cabe was an alpha male with the biggest heart, even when he seemed closed off and wanting to keep things professional. Together, I thought these two meshed well and was looking forward to seeing how their story was going to play out.
Deep Cover is one of those stories that I think will be a hit for some and a miss for others. For me, I thought it was an ok read. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. There was a few issues with the story that made it a little hard for me, but in the end, I’m glad I didn’t give up on Amy and Cabe’s story. I loved the danger and suspense that Deep Cover had to offer and appreciated the light drama associated with Amy and Cabe’s romance.
As I stated before, this is my first read by this author, and while it wasn’t a 100% hit for me, I’d still opening to checking out more from her in the future.
Both Cabe and Amy made for good main characters. They both were honorable, caring people who were excellent at their jobs. Not only were they highly skilled but they loved what they did.
Cabe has a great team working with him and they are so close personally as they are on the job. So close that they are helping Six with his wedding plans. In fact they are doing a lot of the work alongside Six because his fiance Louise is so shy. All she is doing for the wedding planning is buying her dress.
Amy has some very personal reasons for becoming an agent for the FBI. She also has a heart for freeing the women who are missing. It all goes back to the trauma of her childhood. But I don’t want to say too much more because I don’t want to give anything away. But something that Cabe and Amy had to do is work through some old baggage.
There is plenty of tension and action because of the undercover operation. There are so many different people working to bring down this dangerous crime group. There is also plenty of sexual tension between Cabe and Amy. They have to fight their desire for each other because they don’t want to endanger those working with them or even blow the undercover assignments. They all have a lot to lose if that happens. It does get pretty hot though.
Just to make things interesting there was a word included in the story that I didn’t know. And I know quite a few. “Jingoistic”, now there is a word I had to look up! I am glad though the author did give something of a definition right after that word in a conversation.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book via Netgalley and this is my honest opinion of it.
Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole is an exciting Romantic Suspense. Book 3 in “Love Over Duty”, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “Under Fire” and ” Final Seige”.
This is the story of Ex-Navy SEAL Cabe Moss and FBI operative Amy Murray. Well written, and well crafted with engaging and intriguing characters. The storyline flows seamlessly and effortlessly with plenty of intrigue, action, fast paced suspense, mystery, danger and Romance. Sparks fly between Cabe and Amy, with plenty of passion from the very beginning as they journey on their HEA and surviving their dangerous mission.
“I voluntarily received a complimentary copy, however, these are my honest opinions. I was in no way required nor compensated to write a review.”

WOW! This was not only an action packed but chemistry driven story with lots of heat and lots of heart. Cabe is still grieving the loss of his love but that doesn’t stop him from falling for FBI Agent Amy Murray when they team up on a mission. So many twists and turns and all around nail biting suspense. I am not giving anything away in this one. I am on romantic suspense overload this week but that didn’t stop me from loving this one. This can be read as a standalone but the rest of the series is just as good.
Passion and Suspense!
Deep Cover is a fast paced, action packed read. Scarlett Cole manages to showcase her characters as well as, bring an enthralling storyline to life. Cabe and Amy are both intelligent, observant individuals. They live in the details of a case or mission; determined to be successful in their end goal.
Cabe has loved and lost. That loss still haunts him. He focuses on his job and excels in keeping his team safe. Coming off of a mission that went awry and some raw memories, he is feeling a bit of kilter. It’s then that he meets a beautiful blonde at a bar. He is inexplicably drawn to Amy, which leads to some feelings of guilt.
Amy is intelligent, persistent, and beautiful. In her line of work, her physical appearance hasn’t always worked in her favor. She relocated to a new FBI field office after being harrassed by a senior agent. The whole situation soured her to men. So image her surprise at meeting a sexy stranger in a bar. There is definitely a spark, but Cabe disappears on her. The next time they lay eyes on each other is in a joint task force meeting.
Cabe and Amy must work closely to bring down a money laundering operation and possible human trafficking ring. These two admit that there is an attraction between them, but agree to keep things professional. As their case heats up so does the passion between them. Cabe and Amy sizzle together. Their emotional connection is just as intense as their physical connection.
As a reader I got wrapped up in the undercover mission. I loved seeing Amy and Cabe in action. They were both pragmatic and skilled. The trust that they developed was unquestionable. That trust and connection is what ultimately leads to their HEA. The suspense and twists in this story will have you on the edge of your seat. Deep cover is a pulse pounding story that delivers in action, passion, hope, and love!
Great connections between all of the characters! This book really emphasizes the “family” feel they say develops among the Seals. The chemistry between Cade & Amy is intense & apparent right from the beginning. I enjoyed the fact that the characters talked & worked through their issues instead of getting mad & pushing each other away. Good communication is a key that seems missed anymore. I liked revisiting the characters from the previous books. Very enjoyable!
Since discovering Scarlett Cole a couple of years ago I have read every book she’s written and she has yet to let me down. This book is another in a long line of fantastic reads from her. It’s the third book in the Love Over Duty series but it is easily read standalone. As with the other books in the series it is action packed, has a romance that is sizzling, and definitely leaves you wanting more. Although we’ve met Cabe in prior books we really get to know him in this one and he is definitely worth getting to know. You don’t want to miss this book. It is excellently written, has nail biting suspense, and swoon worthy characters making it an entertaining read. I highly recommend it.
First off I need to say I haven’t read the other books in the series so while I didn’t know the entire story I was able to pick it up and not feel too lost. I love the two main characters Cade and Amy. He is every girls dream of course and full of yummy alpha male hotness and getting pass the loss of his fiance. Amy is reeling from fall out from a sexual harassment from her previous manager and out to prove she has earned her place in the FBI. I love that she is more than competent for the job and has tons to offer. The case is personal for them for various reasons and drives their success.
Loads of action and intrigue make this a great read. The characters are carryover from the previous books in the series and storyline. There is enough here to get the idea of what happened in the previous books but still feel they need to be read to fully enjoy.
I received a copy of this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This felt like a second draft. The plot was solid for what it was but it could use more development. There were SPAG errors that I noticed and ignored at first, until there got to be too many of them. That took me out of it a bit. There are some formatting issues that made keeping track of the switches in point-of-view difficult.
My biggest complaint is the characters. Amy seems all badass/independent woman at first but that quickly dissolves into almost nothing after she meets Cabe. She’s wishywashy and whiny at times and doesn’t earn my respect for the moments when she acts otherwise. The relationship between Cabe and Amy felt like it was trying for a build-up of tension and depth but ended up falling flat.
From a technical perspective, I wish Ms. Cole trusted her audience’s intelligence a bit more. I don’t need jokes spelled out for me – it was a bit insulting – because she did a great job setting it up. I got it. But then she explained it and I stopped caring. There was a repetition of information in this story that I found unnecessary.
Everything was fine. Nothing about this story was outstanding for me. It blends in really well with others in this genre. As it stands, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are better stories out there.
