THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERThe one and only autobiography by the iconic Lucille Ball, hailed by TV Guide as the “#1 Greatest TV Star of All Time.”Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her … pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.
The story of the ingenue from Jamestown, New York, determined to go to Broadway, destined to make a big splash, bound to marry her Valentino, Desi Arnaz. In her own inimitable style, she tells of their life together—both storybook and turbulent; intimate memories of their children and friends; wonderful backstage anecdotes; the empire they founded; the dissolution of their marriage. And, with a heartfelt happy ending, her enduring marriage to Gary Morton.
Here is the lost manuscript that her fans and loved ones will treasure. Here is the laughter. Here is the life. Here’s Lucy…

As a lifelong Lucy fan, I loved it.
I have always loved Lucy. This book was well-researched and put forth the character behind the comical Lucy most of us know. Her early work is not as much in the mainstream, and this book really takes an in-depth look at the woman who was Lucille Ball.
I loved Lucy and therefore loved this book. Lucy wrote the book herself, and her children found the audiotapes and manuscript after her death. I found it to be a very interesting and revealing autobiography and would highly recommend it to Lucy lovers everywhere.
I loved this book. It was a wonderful insight into Lucille Ball. She was an amazing person.
Excellent autobiography with the only mild complaint in that it ends several years too early. Still a great look at her early life and career and especially of the success she and Desi had in the 1950s.
I’m still reading it but so far it is funny and interesting!
Loved Lucy and thought she was a genius. It was fascinating to hear her story I could hear her voice reading to me throughout the book. She was a woman who worked through so many enormous obstacles and somehow found happiness. I applaud her. My only wish was that there had been more stories of those she worked with.
I’m a huge Lucy fan so I loved the book! This memoir is written in her voice which brings the story to life for me. It’s not award winning writing but it’s interesting, enjoyable and easy to read – especially if you love Lucy.
I remember watching I Love Lucy as a kid and this book brought back many happy memories. I was nice to know more of the behind the scenes stories. I would, however, have preferred the photos to be throughout the book instead of at the end.
I Love anything Lucy, and this book was no exception. I could hear her saying these things! Excellent. I wish it had had more pictures!
As a fan of I Love Lucy I really enjoyed and was surprised at Lucy’s story.
Loved finding out about Lucille Ball and how she and Desi Arnaz made their personal and professional lives together. It was interesting to find out how the movie industry worked during the age of the big studio moguls. Fascinating reading.
Great book!
I alway love watching I Love Lucy glad I got to read this book in her own words. Didn’t realize she was in so many movies and Brodway.
I’M NOT SURE WHAT MY REACTION TO THIS BOOK IS. I ENJOYED IT BUT DID NOT EXPECT SOO MUCH SELF ANALYSIS.
This was a wonderful autobiography in the voice of Lucy herself. Very well done.
I enjoyed this book so much I wanted to read more about Lucy where this book left off, so I bought a full biography about her.
I loved reading about Lucille Ball’s life in her own words! It was so amazing. I learned so much more about her and Desi.
Grew up watching I Love Lucy, and couldn’t resist this one. Probably most interesting because these are Lucille Ball’s own words written earlier in her life, and the foreword written by her daughter really sets the stage for how this book came about, and puts it all in perspective . Pictures throughout are fantastic! Really great to see the early shots and to see the changes in her appearance throughout her career- so different than the traditional “Lucy look” from the show. Great stories, and she always does a nice job of detailing events – both good and bad. This woman led a fascinating life, and it was cool to get the inside scoop in her own words. Now I’ll need to check out a Desi Arnaz bio and compare perspectives! Easy and entertaining day read.
