Three dragons. One woman. A reverse harem fantasy that will leave you breathless and begging for more…Dareena Sellis is a nobody. The orphaned daughter of a no-name farmer, she toils away as a serving girl at Hallowdale Inn, her only marriage prospects either shipping off to war, or pawing at her skirts with their grubby, gnarled hands. But fate takes a strange turn the day a dragon huntress … strange turn the day a dragon huntress comes to town. Suddenly, Dareena is swept off to Dragon’s Keep, trading in her raggedy dresses for silken gowns, her closet-sized room for feather pillows and spacious gardens, and her miserable suitor for three very handsome, very virile dragon princes.
For Dareena is not a nobody. She is the Dragon’s Gift—the one woman chosen by the gods every century to bear children for the future king of Dragonfell.
Despite her pre-ordained path, Dareena’s fate is far from certain. The crown has not given birth to more than one son in nearly a thousand years, and the line of succession is far from clear. Neither of the princes are willing to cede Dareena to the other, and yet she must choose. For the enemy is knocking on Dragonfell’s door, and Dareena’s decision could either mean the kingdom’s salvation…
…or annihilation.

This was an intriguing start to a fun reverse harem fantasy romance. The characters are engaging and the world building is top-notch, though the overarching story-line is a little thin for my taste. I really liked the three dragon brothers and their different approaches to the world–there was a real sense of completion when the three of them worked together, and adding Dareena to the mix only strengthened their relationships. Truly a great start to the series. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Commoner to Queen may not be an original plot, but the twists and turns make this series a definite original. It’s like they took ten of my favorites and seamlessly meshed them all into one, with some added spice, just for fun. If you love paranormal romance, reverse harem, romantic suspense or just plain romance, you’ll love this series!
This book is the first in a new series by one of my favorite authors. There is drama, intrigue, danger, elves, dragons and Warlocks. The dragon king is going mad, there’s a long running war, a set of triplet princes and one common girl, there’s so much going on you have to keep reading, right up until it stops. Now we have to wait for the next book.
I received an ARC of this story and have chose to voluntarily review it here.
First, I must say I absolutely loved this book! Read it in less than 12 hours- very difficult to put down, so caution when you begin it. This book flows in all the right ways. It was easy to understand and keep up. My only complaint would be the cliffhanger but I’ll let it slide this time as the book was awesome!
Warning: This book contains adult language and themes, if you are offended by sex, the p word, or like things, this book may not be for you.
Detailed review of book below (contains some spoilers):
The book starts with Dareena, a girl who everyone considers a nobody, working for Mr. Harrin at his Inn. Mr. Harrin is her only prospect for a husband until she attends the Dragon’s Hunt Festival. Picked by the huntress, who happens to be the daughter of King Dragomir, Dareena goes to the Dragon’s Keep. Her life changes when she is chosen as the Dragon’s Gift, the one who must bear the future king’s children to keep the Dragon lines going. If only it were that simple…the King has gone mad from the death of his wife years ago. Instead of making the choice of who succeeds him, he forces Dareena to choose one of his three sons (Drystan, Lucyan, and Alistair) after courting for a couple weeks. While getting to know the three potential dragon kings, Dareena discovers who she is sexually. Complicating things during this time, the kingdom is at war with the Elves, who are believed to have caused the death of the previous Dragon’s gift. Dareena finds that what everyone believes and sees is not quite true…
The first half of the book contains little to no sexual encounters and serves more as the base of the story, while the second half is full of sex.
The book is full of fun characters and I can’t wait for their stories to unfold. If you love fantasy or books like the Merry Gentry series, you will want to read this book.
* I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for my review, however, I have also purchased the book (that’s how much I love it!).
A great beginning to what I am sure will be an amazing trilogy! This book draws readers in quickly with action, adventure and lots of steamy romance!! I am looking forward to seeing what book two holds in store for Dareena and her princes!
great first of series
