Baseball is life, the rest is just details.Everyone who’s played the game has heard those words a time or two. But Hancock has heard them his entire life from his parents. His family has lived and breathed baseball even before he started little league.Hancock “Parts” Peters has a name that inspires grins across many faces, but the moment those faces get their first look at him, those grins slide … those grins slide away.
Hancock is gruff, filterless, and doesn’t give a crap who he offends. He is the only man in baseball who doesn’t care if he gets an endorsement or not. He’s there to play the game. He’s there to win. He’s there because baseball is his life.
People think he’s a jerk.
And maybe he is. But if that’s how he has to come off to get people to leave him the hell alone so he can play in peace, so be it. The less people he has to worry about offending, the better.

Don’t let the fear of striking out hold you back.
Sway Coffman didn’t mean to rock the boat. She was just there to do her job.
Sure, she was a woman in a man’s world. Yes, she beat out several of those men to get the job as head athletic trainer for the professional baseball team, The Texas Lumberjacks. And yeah, she now got hate mail from those men.
But she’s good at her job, and she earned the position.
What she is not good at, however, is talking to men.
Men seem to see her curvy hips, large breasts and thick thighs and automatically think she is incompetent. Because surely a fat girl couldn’t get the job treating some of the most fit and athletic men in the world, right?
Wrong.
This fat girl got the job, and she is proud of it.
What else did she get?
The attention of the sexiest bearded man she’d ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on.
It was enough to bring to her down to her knees…in front of that man, the hot and grumpy baseball player, Hancock Peters.

one of the things that i have always lived about Vale’s books is how her female characters are never portraying a rail thin woman, they all are always ones that have a more real figure. and Sway was another one that is more relatable because of this factor. Hancock is someone that is a jerk to everyone, well everyone except for Sway. these two fit together perfectly. and whenever anyone says something about Sway’s size he is the first to defend her. this story was a change from the previous books of Vale that i have devoured . but it was a nice change of pace. not to say that there was no problems when it came to this couple cause there was, it just wasn’t one that was life or death for both of the characters.
it was nice to see Ember and Gabe again for the Freebirds, which was the way that i found tied this series to the others. and then there was of course Sterling’s appearance, which i was waiting for since he is a baseball player himself. i can’t wait to get more from this series soon. because there were other characters that i want more of.
Damn, I’ve done it again.. I sat and read Pitch Please straight through in one afternoon – and I loved it!
A change from the genre that we have grown to know and love form Miss Lani, Pitch Please was a fantastic read.
I fell for Hancock pretty much from the off and Sway was a really likable character that was more than a match for ‘Parts’!!
Hancock Peters was a gruff, rough, camera shy baseball player and Sway Coffman was a hard working, funny, intelligent athletic trainer working hard to prove herself in a male dominated sports world who together were a perfect pair.
The story was funny, smoking hot, packed full of chemistry and attraction, had a little drama and worry that ramped up the pace a tad and featured a great supporting characters that I definitely want more of!!
The first book in the new There’s No crying In Baseball series was a hit and I cannot wait for more!!
Lani Lynn Vale is now one of my top ‘go to’ authors and she has hit the ball out of the park with this new release!! If you haven’t checked out her books yet, do yourself a favaour and give them a go…
This was super sweet and funny. Sway and Hancock are just perfect for one another. From day one Sway made sure he noticed her and they instantly hit it off. There’s some team drama but not over the top. These two mainly had me laughing at all their quirks. I would definitely recommend reading this book, it’s a great start to a new series.
Superstitions – Sway and Parts!
Absolutely loved this new book in this series by Lani! Hancock is a professional baseball player and Sway is his athletic trainer, though she is also his biggest fan! Loved Hancock’s lack of filter as this truly made him funny and I found myself laughing multiple times throughout the book. Sway was sweet and just the right fit for Hancock. Absolutely would recommend anything Lani writes and this month we get two of her books – YES!!!!!!
Fun story. Sway and Hancock had a lot of chemistry. Who doesn’t love a man who loves you for who you are and not what you think you look like. His protectiveness and loving nature was amazing. I loved this story.
super fun book , I laughed so much and I love it. Lani writes super funny books, all without cheating and with HEA. this was revolves around baseball and I loved it. Go read it!
Baseball players have a lot of superstitions, like socks that never get washed, a certain routine that they follow, or even what they eat and drink before and after the game. Hancock was all about superstitions, so when the new athletic trainer was sitting in his seat, he had no issues telling her to move. Sway is the new AT for the team, and she has worked hard to get where she was, she didn’t have time for a ball player… even if it was Hancock. But nothing will stop Hancock once he wants something, and he wants Sway, even if its against the rules!
Lani Lynn Vale just proved that she can write ANYTHING! Branching out a bit with a sports romance, she still gives us an alpha male, and the right amount of action. Sway and Hancock were HOT! I loved everything about this story. With a bit of drama, some baseball, and some steamy sexy scenes; LLV hit it out the park. 5 stars all the way!
Hancock “Parts” Peters is a man known for his reputation being gruff, playing ball, and telling it as it is. Sway Coffman knows she beat out others for her job as athletic Trainer for the Texas Lumberjacks baseball team, but she is the best in her field and is not letting anyone stand in her way. When she meets Hancock for the first time, she is a bit awe struck as she has had a crush on him she can remember.
Hancock wants Sway and has a alpha caveman way of wooing Sway. Sway is not sure what is going on with Hancock but she knows she wants him. Together they are in their own world will Sway get her happily ever after with the Hancock?
Delightful. Hancock is a larger than life personality who sets his sights on Sway. I thought the characters were quirky and was chuckling throughout the book. I cannot wait for what is next in this fantastic new series.
LOVED this story.
I love everything about a good sports book, especially when it has a lot of the sport in it. Another part that makes it even better is when the girl also knows about the sport, it makes everything so genuine! And that is what these characters were. Hancock and Sway were so genuine and unique!
First thing, of course, is their spark. We immediately know that Sway has always liked Hancock, but was also immediately see the spark between them. This is so important in a plot and Lani did it so well! Second, is how different Sway is. I love that she isn’t your normal female lead, she’s sassy and she’s a curvy girl. What is not to love?!?!? And we can all appreciate how Hancock likes those specific things about her. There is also quite a contrast between Sway and Hancock, it makes things so interesting.
I found myself really addicted to this book, I got it done almost in one shot too. Lani did so well in keeping me hooked, and I mean hooked, line, sinker! Her characters were real, unique and so interesting! Between that and the real emotions we felt while reading I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read more of Lani’s work!
Love this series so far. Can’t wait for more. Hancock is hot. Sway is sassy, funny and amazing.
Lani Lynn Vale is known for her military, emergency services, and MC books, so this is totally different than any of her other books. I’ve been (im)patiently waiting for this release since she announced it was coming. It was completely worth the wait!
On the outside, Hancock is a gruff, tough, no nonsense baseball player that lives for the game. Underneath, he is a teddy bear that was just waiting for the right woman to bring out his softer side. Sway is a strong, beautiful woman that is confident in who she is, even if she is a little body-conscious. Together, they make an unstoppable couple.
Unlike any of her previous releases, this book focuses on a professional baseball player and his team’s Athletic trainer. Sounds like it’s gonna be boring compared to her previous action packed books, right? I mean, how much trouble could a MLB player and an athletic trainer get into? WRONG! It wouldn’t be a LLV book if there wasn’t action, danger, fantastic rescues. Add in romance, family, and the kind of loyalty that all of her books are based on and you have the beginnings of another amazing, swoon-worthy series by LLV.
Oh my gosh Lani Lynn Vale could write about anything from HOT bikers to sexy Dragon riders and now Baseball players that put the B in butt I mean beard , plus look at the title enough said , this book just makes me want to watch baseball and by that I mean have you seen them in pants . Sway is just awesome she has one of my dream jobs , she’s caring , funny , sassy, and all around great heroine . Hancock is so yummy he’s gruff , hilarious , protective , got one dirty mouth and has got to be one of my favorite heroes and that is some tough competition . Hancock and Sway have off the charts sexual chemistry with steamy sex , witty banter , protective of each other , and the perfect match . As always the secondary characters are lovable to were I can’t wait to read their own book and the story line draws you to were you can’t put your kindle down . You don’t want to miss out on this hilariously beautiful read one click right away ( if you haven’t read a Lani lynn Vale book you really should start and binge read all her other book you don’t know what you are missing .

It’s been a while since I’ve read a LLV and I absolutely adored this! Professional baseball player and the head AT falling for each other – yes please!
-no cheating
-no ow drama whatsoever
-om drama -her ex showed up but caused zero problems for the couple
-no pushing away
-some steamy scenes
-no violence
-safe
-ok epilogue
I put off reading this for awhile I don’t care for the sports genre at all. I should have just read it on release day it was fantastic.
H/h dynamic was great, storyline flowed well and secondary characters were engaging.
Sway gets the job of her dreams as the Athletic Director for the Lumberjacks who just happen to have her favorite player on the roster. Parts is not your usual MLB player. He doesn’t look for endorsements, hates having his picture taken and doesn’t court the press. Together these two make the perfect couple.
