From USA Today Bestselling Author KL Donn comes the third stand alone installment in the Love Letters short story series. Whoops!… She butted in! Dear Maverick,You weren’t supposed to get my letter.I only needed to vent. But, I wouldn’t change a thing. Dear True,I thought you were fake. Then you rambled, and lost your filter.Sometimes you just need to connect with someone.
Falling in love through letters is crazy, right?
True writes to Maverick as a joke and a means to vent. Her best friend, Lena tells her that she doesn’t even have to mail the letter to Maverick, Lena’s cousin. If course Lena mails the letter for True and ends up starting something that certainly seems like it was always meant to be. Falling in love through letters is crazy, right? I don’t know, but this is a definite must read.
I loved how Maverick and True’s romance got started by the same person, Lena, who’s Maverick’s cousin and Lena’s best friend. She was like the fairy godmother to get this two together. She persisted on True writing a letter to her cousin and True relented, thinking the letter wouldn’t be sent or even responded back, but boy was she wrong 🙂
It was funny how Maverick thought it was his cousin, Lena, who wrote him the letter, joking with him, so he calls Lena out by responding to the letter only to find out it wasn’t her, but True, meeting his future through written words on paper, like his brothers’ in arm, Gage and Killian did with their women 🙂
At first, when True receives Maverick’s letter, she’s furious with Lena but then as time goes on, exchanging letter by letter, they start falling for each other. Maverick finds True adorable, who can bake amazing peanut butter snickerdoodles and she’s beautiful. True finds Maverick pure alpha and smoking hot 😉
When Maverick tells True that he will be incommunicado for a month due to a scheduled mission, True worries but knows that Maverick’s career is who he is and accepts it, but starts worrying more when instead of a month, two months pass by with no response from Maverick, she becomes a shell of herself ;( luckily, Maverick returns and they finally get together and have their passionate moment 😉 we also get to see them have their HEA like all our couples from the Dear Letter Series do and I can’t wait for more 🙂
Five FLASHING stars! Fast to read. Every page is worthy.
After reading Dear Killian and Dear Gage I became a fan of short stories. They are fast and easy to read. I hope and pray to heaven that K.L. Donn put them all together in one book. These stories would make a pretty anthology book. Where every character fall in insta-love. Strong alpha soldiers plus badass heroines are a good combination.
So about Dear Maverick let me tell you that I enjoy very much the story behind this book.
This time K. L. Donn delivers a beautiful message through her writing: to connect with someone. Every human being around the planet needs to be close to someone. You can’t live alone and not wanting anyone near of you, no matter if you have been hurt before. You always need to feel safe and cherished. Remember that not every men are frogs and not every women are princesses. However, you will always find a soul who will be destined to protect and love you.
This words are specially for the heroine, aka True. After breaking up with her ex, she refuses to carry on dating. But her friend asked her to write a letter to a soldier. She did but have not intentions to send it. But fate (Lena) had other plans.
If you have a thing for soldiers then Maverick will win your heart. He is part of the same military section where Killian and Gage are. (If you have read the other short stories of the series, you know whom I am talking about)
“Maverick. Tall, stoic, strong. His short, dark hair is almost the color of my own, with matching chocolate eyes, a strong jaw, and thick, pillowy lips. Lips that just might know how to kiss a woman properly.”
And it all started with a letter…
Something will be built up between Maverick and True. The exchange of letters between them will change their lives in a spontaneous way. She will find the connection she lost with her feelings and Mav will find a reason to come back home.
“Life has been quiet in the desert, which none of us are complaining about, and True is a refreshing break from life on the base.”
Be prepared for a beautiful short story that will leave you wanting more of these great characters. It is short but it has all the elements that make it a perfect reading. If you are searching for a sweet insta-love, you must grab this. This book is beautifully written and you won’t be disappointed. A handsome soldier is waiting patiently for you. Do not make him wait…
•True & Maverick•
The playfulness and chemistry between Maverick and True is adorable and hot! I really loved the quirky personality of True and the resolve that Maverick has towards her and his feelings for her. Great addition to the series. Looking forward to the next one.
Short, sweet and romantic story of about 70 pages. Military man overseas receives a pen pal type letter that turns into more. True is a gal that takes on the challenge tossed her way by a friend to write letters overseas. It’s a romantic afternoon read. Enjoyed it!
I don’t even know what to say. All my reviews for this series seem to be the same. Super loved it. These are adorable and steamy all in one. Next…..
Bought the Boxset today and read this.
I think Maverick and True may be my favorite so far! She is hilarious.
This whole series makes me want to jump in and join these characters. So good.
I’d like to know about the foot injury though 🙂
When her friend coerces True into writing a letter to her cousin Maverick, a deployed Navy officer, she resists. She does, however find herself rambling her thoughts onto paper one night when she couldn’t sleep. She never intended for anyone to see the letter she wrote and the in in the trash. True’s friend, Lena, had other plans and sent it along to her cousin.
When Maverick receives an outrageous letter, he thinks his annoying cousin Lena is pranking him again. He responds, though, on the off chance that True is a real person.
What follows is a crazy and flirtatious set of letters back and forth between True and Maverick. the longer they write, the more they begin to learn about one another and the more they want to meet when Mav’s deployment is over.
When the letters stop, however, True begins to fear the worst. Will Maverick make it home to her or will their relationship end before they ever have a chance to meet face to face . . .
I have really fallen in love with KL Donn’s Love Letters stories . . . the are quick and fun reads that are a burst of happiness and happy ever after! True is one heck of a personality. She rambles pretty much all of the time and has no filter which makes for some incredibly amusing dialogue. Maverick is sexy and sweet all rolled into a perfect package, and he wants nothing more than to deliver himself right to True’s front door.
If you need a quick and easy read that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, one click Dear Maverick today! 5 stars!
