The trail to happiness!
First up I just want to say how much I love this series and the craziness that is Ida Sue! In the previous books, mention was made of Petal and Luke and how they were managing to co-parent for the sake of their son River. This story focuses on them and their second chance at love! However, the things that threatened their marriage the first time around is still present when they attempt to rekindle what they have.
Can’t wait for the next book to see which Lucas brother is on the trail to find their happiness:)
Don’t know why I haven’t read this book earlier. I read the other two in this series and thoroughly enjoyed both. Petal and Luka have a rocky and really bumpy road together. Their chemistry is undeniable. Petal is just a kid when this all started, she was to immature and naïve to navigate a relationship, I wish Luka could have seen it from the beginning and either stepped away or helped her grow but the journey of this love story or should we call this a second chance romance was exceptionally written to break your heart then mend it back together. Thank you Ms. Jordan Marie for writing a beautiful and sometimes chaotic story that shows two people grow, mature, and learn to become amazing friends and finding that love they should have cultivated instead of pushing it away.
This is probably my favorite of the Lucas Brothers so far. Petal and Luka had a rough start to their relationship. There was a lot of lying and resentment as well as family pressure. Petal and Luka have been divorced for a year but neither have moved on. They still love each other, but will they be able to get past the hurt they have caused each other? I wish we could have had a little more information about what happened to the school principal but that is the only thing I can think of that is missing here. I really enjoyed their story and can’t wait for the next book.
Petal’s mother is the most inconsistent secondary character. I really couldn’t keep up with her.
Petal lying about which sister she was to make Luka not know which sister she was to trick Luka into being with her, despite the fact that she was a minor, was something I really shouldn’t have overlooked. The only reason I continued was because Petal and Luka we’re both adamant that Luka didn’t know how old she really was. She hated Luka with no reason but she apparently confronted him before the divorce was finalized to make him try to fight for Petal. Why would he listen to someone who was so mean to him his entire marriage to her daughter?
There are no details about the good from their marriage. It’s all him not trying to understand why she doesn’t like his father and Luka being mad as t her for various reasons. Even when they were divorcing it seemed like he never tried to make it right. Petal really could only do so much. The only reason they even get back together seems to be because we’re told they love each other. They fell in love before Luka knew the truth of Petal’s age and never tell out of it.
This just really didn’t work for me.
Awwww the crayon family is at it again. This author is able to give us a dose of humor but also keep me on the pledge of my seat. Petal and Luka were great. I really loved seeing them work through the issues they were faced with and coming out amazing on the other side. They were put up against a devil and once they got their heads out of their butts everything they worked for shined. I won’t get into too much detail but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to find time to read the next Lucas family book. 4 stars #2OCCJD
OMG what a rollercoaster dysfunctional family bwahaha… Petal was inlove with Lukas since she was a 16 years old.. pregnant and thing just went south.. can old sparks be reunited again? When you love someone so deeply its very hard to break the bond especially when there is a child…
I love how the character connected… it feels like smalltown romance with many perks.. Crazy Ida Sue! Dont mess with a Mamabear… 🙂
Until the next Lucas family drama 🙂
Luka and Lotus Petal were well worth the wait for their second chance at extraordinary love! Petal has made some big mistakes in her life starting with the decision to pretend to be her older sister so that Luka Parish would fall for her. Those two fell hard and fast but of course the truth will out and when it all came crashing down and a pregnant 17 year old Petal was found out, however Luka betrayed and heartbroken married her anyways. Their marriage built on obligation understatedly was not rock solid and so when troubles arose, Petal ended it. Now it seems that Luka is moving on and Petal is crushed. For herself, the son they share and the love she thought was true. Luka truly loved Lo, but blinded by pride and betrayal he let her get away and now it may too late to save his family. If he wants a shot to save his future Luka is going to need to man up and tell Lo that the real reason he made her his was not out of obligation but that she was his future. But when ghosts from the past threaten to tear them asunder for a second time will they fall victim to the same pitfalls or will their love weather the storm this time around.
“My breath catches, lodging up in my chest. I’ve loved this man my entire life. My. Entire. Life. ”
Petal and Luka are a hot mess of regret, riddled with interferences from every direction, and toeing the line between moving on, and trying to make it work. The Crayon Gang is at the top of their game with their incessant meddling, adorable banter, and hysterical antics. The Author ups the sexy and emotional factors, lending a deeper, more heart-felt story that I felt in my bones.
This resulted in the super-feels because I wanted Petal and Luka to work, even though the reasons they weren’t were completely frustrating. Inhaling the story as I always do, it felt like being in the middle of a completely flawed, yet lovable group of my own friends. Ida Sue alone, makes the book with her unforgettable quips, and comebacks!!
I loved the glimpses into the past that lent depth and understanding to the present. Luka and Petal’s love is undeniable, but can it withstand all that stands in their way? Not telling, but either way, you won’t be disappointed. Sinfully scorching, delightfully naughty at times, chock full of feels, and an all around amazing story!!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!

Really enjoying this series!! Loving the well written stories and characters! Ida Sue is awesome!! Can’t wait for book 4!
Absolutely my favorite Lucas Brother (though technically it’s a Lucas sister) book to date!!!
When we first met Petal and Luka I didn’t understand much about their relationship. Who could, after all, since we had only just met them. Anywho, WOW!!! Could young Luka have been a bigger a**? Granted, Petal screwed up but… They both made mistakes. At first I thought Ida Sue was being too harsh but then I totally got where she was coming from. I think the choices Petal made where the only ones she could have made given the circumstances.
That being said, I freaking loved this book!!! I loved that… oops, can’t tell that one. Dang, well, you will just have to read it yourself. It is so perfectly Jordan Marie!!!! Funny, sad, absolutely brilliant!!!!
This book is funny, emotional, and steamy……
Luka doesn’t back down, secrets are revealed…
Love the family banter, you never know what willl come out their mouth…
Ida Sue is my hero, she is strong, funny and the glue that holds the family together….
Love Petal and Luka’s story, what an emotional read and they finally have their HEA! Love the Lucas Brothers Books, can not wait for the next one!
