Gabriel Torres thought his life after Major League Baseball would be simple and quiet, or at least quieter. However, as he takes over running the exclusive Players Club, he finds himself continually embroiled in scandal and drama. Surely nothing, and no one could make his life any crazier…Right? Rachel Adler is a blast from Gabe’s past who crashed back into his life with the finesse of a … freight train. But she’s a welcome distraction. At least for a night.
Rachel has been working hard to become one of the top sports journalists in the country. She doesn’t have time for a long-term romance or irresistibly charming baseball players. A one-night-stand with the man who she knew would hit it out of the park was all she wanted.
But when she gets a tip that Gabe could have ties to one of the biggest sports stories in history, a story that could make her career, Rachel decides that maybe she has a little time for the sexy baseball player after all. As she gets in deeper with both her story and Gabe, Rachel begins to question who she is, what she wants, and what exactly she’s willing to sacrifice for her career.
Will the potential grand-slam romance be stopped short or will Rachel and Gabe be able to go the distance?

This is the third book in the Players Club Series. However, even though there are characters from previous books, and references to some events in the previous books, this story can totally be read as a stand alone.
Gabe is a retired baseball player, who has taken over the ownership of an exclusive club, made up of current and former sports figures.
Rachel is a sports reporter, who has gotten a tip about a secret sports club…..but hasn’t been able to find anything concrete.
Rachel and Gabe went to college together, but Rachel was afraid to take that leap…. so she didn’t. Reunited as adults, things seem to click. But they are both still afraid to trust. Lies are told, secrets are kept. With Gabe’s life going one way, and Rachel determined to find the truth about the Players Club, I just couldn’t see how they could find there way to be together.
Gabe seems to be a very sweet man, slightly lacking in self confidence. He struggled with keeping part of himself that he was hiding from Rachel, as their relationship grew. Rachel also was hiding things from Gabe, which led to problems between them.
This was a very enjoyable, second chance romance, well written, and kept me entertained throughout. Definitely one I’d recommend to anyone that likes sports romances, even though there isn’t a lot of focus on the sports element.

One Night Stand by Elizabeth Hayley is ANOTHER WINNER! This book is about Gabe, and I’ve been waiting for his story! All of the guys are funny, but Gabe just takes it to another level. He has the reputation as the player. With Ben and Jace settling down, thoughts of settling down have crossed his mind lately. Yet, no woman has made him feel that way with the exception of a girl he briefly dated in college, Rachel. As fate would have it, the two run into each other at the Super Bowl. Sparks fly, and they share a night of passion that rocks both of their worlds. Rachel thinks she won’t she him again, but again fate steps in, and the two end up spending more time together. As their feelings deepen, each of them is carrying secrets, and when those come to light, their newfound love may crash and burn.
Gabe has been one my favorite characters so far. I love Ben and Jace, but there was always something special about Gabe, probably his ability to make me laugh, that tugged at my heart throughout the series. He was a secondary character that just never stayed in the background. His personality came through in the books. He really is the full package. Don’t get me wrong, he is by no means perfect. He stretches the truth a bit to impress Rachel. Although he never had to do that, but that did show his vulnerable side.
Enough gushing over Gabe, now let’s get to Rachel. I liked her; how could I not? I even liked her when I saw her through Gabe’s memories of her in college. She was beautiful, but her greatest quality was her tenacity of reaching her goals. However, that became on of her faults as well. She put herself at a crossroads, her career or Gabe. I wasn’t sure which she would choose in the end. I could understand her questioning the relationship with Gabe. He was a player. That was the reason she never got serious with him in college. She definitely had a hard decision in front of her.
One of my favorite aspects about this series is underneath each story is a deeper, more important story going on. This one addressed the media and privacy. Rachel was the perfect example of that. Some athletes do become celebrities and with that comes fame, but should it cost their right to privacy? No one story on them shows who they really are as a person. The authors really did a great job of asking those important questions.
Sports romances have become one of my favorite genres to read, and this series stands out in that it’s about friends who each play different sports. I have learned a little something new with each book. My most favorite thing is the friendship and the family they have created. Their bond runs through each book I have read. The epilogues are just the icing on the cake for me. I LOVE them!!!!!
