Kate Connor is your average, everyday mom with two kids, a husband, and one very big secret… she used to be a Demon Hunter for a secret arm of the Vatican. Now retired, she’s more interested in the domestic than the demonic. So when she catches sight of a demon in Wal-Mart, she tells herself it’s some other Hunter’s problem. But when that demon attacks her in her kitchen, retirement is no … longer an option.
Now Kate has to kick a little demon butt, figure out why the creatures are trying to take her out and take over her home town, and at the same time take care of her 2 year old, deal with a hormonal 14 year old, get the family to Catholic mass on time, and try to keep her past a secret from her daughter and her husband.
She’s a little out of practice, but hey… if she can juggle two kids and an impromptu dinner party, ridding the town of demons should be a piece of cake. Like the saying goes, Carpe Demon… and Kate intends to do just that.

so much fun! loved it!
I had gotten this book quite a while ago (about 3 years to the day) on special but lost it in my wealth of books. I did make a promise to myself this year that I would go through and find them all and read them this year.
I cannot say this was a hidden treasure. Like most of us I did read through some of the critiques and many said it was funny …
Kate is a mom, wife, friend and a retired demon hunter.
She experiences encounters that brings her back into the Demon world. Every turn she is looking over her shoulder. Keeping this secret from her family Is a tough one, but she will do whatever it takes to keep her loved ones safe.
So good and keeps you guessing.
Thank you Julie Kenner for …
I had never read any of the books in this series but was attracted by the cover and the title.
Kate Connor is similar to a grown-up Buffy the Vampire Slayer, except that she worked for the Vatican and hunted demons. She is long retired and happily married, a stay-at-home Mom with two children, a 14-year-old daughter, and a toddler son. Her …
I absolutely loved this book. I was a huge Buffy fan in my younger years and this definitely reminded me of my favorite slayer! Kate is my favorite type of character! The book itself is funny, entertaining and has some good action scenes. I read this book years ago and completely forgot about it but I’m so glad I reread it!! Highly recommend this!!
4 star Review Carpe Demon (Demon-Hunting Soccer Mum #1) by J Kenner
Paranormal is not normally a genre that I would read but as it was written by J Kenner whose previous books I have enjoyed, I decided to give Carpe Demon a go. The blurb was intriguing, a demon hunting soccer mum? It was certainly a unique story line.
With a husband and children …
Original, fun & entertaining!
Carpe Demon and the following series are some of my favorite books. I loved the sassiness of the main character, the story line was original, and overall, it was a fun read. Very few books end up with a permanent place on my book shelf, and this is one of them!
