Jennifer Peterson has been unlucky in love, but now thanks to an Internet search she’s found a sure-fire formula for identifying the perfect man. Statistics seem to show that if she narrows her search to men of certain careers and physical attributes, she’ll have a better shot at success. So now she’s on the hunt for not-so-well-endowed, short and hairy podiatrists or funeral directors, who’ve … been dubbed less likely to cheat than their tall, good-looking counterparts. Yup, she’s narrowing her playing field to the “safe” guys. But nothing feels safe when a hit man runs Jennifer off the road and chases her into an old junkyard. The sexy cowboy who runs the place may be the best man to keep her alive, but he’s also the type to most likely put her heart in jeopardy. Should she trust her head and keep playing it safe, or throw all logic out the window for the one guy who may be worth the risk?

It’s hard to beat Christie Craig’s books for humor, hot guys, and harrowing action. The Junkyard Cowboy does not disappoint. If you ever get a chance to see her speak, she’s just this dang awesome in person, too.
She’s tops on my list to book for my new radio show!
Loved this book. I always enjoy reading Craig’s books. Little bit of suspense, some romance and a fun read.
A fun and entertaining read. The perfect mix of a romance between a determined heroine and a hot cowboy, a comedy with a good dose of frienship and enough suspense to keep the plot going. The characters were all likeable and easy to relate to (well, except the bad guy, of course).
And yes, some things are completely unrealistic or predictable at times, and the end is a bit rushed, but it’s easy to overlook these minor flaws and enjoy the story.
Enjoyed it and now enjoying the Cop Who Stole Christmas by the same good author.
I have read all three books in this series and have enjoyed them all. The author has a wonderful sense of humor and has created characters that I cared about as I laughed and flipped pages to see how they all worked out
TX cop story with plenty of steam. Lots of action and very entertaining.
Wow, Christie is a new author to me & my first time reading her work. Though I hadn’t read the first two books in this series, I was able to get to know the characters through this one. There is a wonderful ensemble cast of girlfriends & their husbands, a crazy old ranch hand named Pete & his enormous dog Devil. You even get some insight & history about Bundy, the hitman!
Jennifer & Clay are brought together in the strangest of circumstances. She is running from a hired hit man, sent to keep her from testifying in a child abuse trial. He runs her off the road & chases her to Clay’s house. Clay, finding her in his home, being thrown around by a huge bald guy, jumps in to save her. One problem, he was in the shower when he heard them crash through his front door, meaning he runs out naked to save her! Once she is safely at the hospital, Clay checks in on her & somehow ends up agreeing to take her to his home to protect her until the trial. Love is in the air, whether or not either of them likes it.
This book was laugh out loud funny, super sexy and had just enough suspense to keep you from setting the book down. I read it in one night and it was great! The book was recommended to me by author Jami Albright & im really happy that I took the chance on Christie. If you enjoy quick, exciting reads, this one is definitely for you.
The book goes by in a flash. It felt almost like I opened the book and turned the page and it was over already. That was both good and bad. It made the action scenes high tension and very dramatic. Where I think the speed hurt the story was in the connection between Jennifer and Clay. We’d met Jennifer in the previous book but didn’t have the chance to really get to know her. At the end of this book, I’m still not certain that I know her much better. Clay comes across as sweet but badly scarred emotionally. And when all’s said and done, that’s still pretty much all I know. I think this is probably my favorite in the series so far. That might be simply because it has the fewest spelling and grammar mistakes. The story itself was exciting with lots of funny moments. I’m still trying to decide if the misspelling in “sitting in high cotton” was on purpose or by accident – it made for one of my funniest moments in the book. There’s still at least one more bestie in this group who needs a story and I’m looking forward to reading it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
This is book 3 of a series, easily read as a stand-alone book. The characters were entertaining, the storyline light-hearted. It’s a cute read.
I throughly enjoyed reading this story. A blend of romance, suspense, drama, sex and witty, endearing characters. The was passion off the charts and the dialog made it a fun read!
This isn’t the usual Christie Craig book. Oh, it’s fun but there isn’t the mystery to solve that I’m used to. Clay is a former police officer who left the force and is trying to find out what his next step in life should be. He’s inherited a ranch and junkyard from his grandfather so he may as well start there. Jennifer is an interior designer who has been blackballed by a client she reported for child abuse. That’ll do it… After meeting Clay, quite by accident when she is run off the road in front of his junkyard, she’s beginning to think there’s a hit man after her. The story progresses from there. It’s a quick and entertaining story, but it won’t keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s pretty straight-forward and the story runs at warp speed from beginning to end.
Fun for what it was. Not a bad way to take your mind off current events.
