“Behind those eyes, a battle rages. One that’s not fought overseas with guns and tanks, but one that wreaks havoc in the homeland with harshly spoken words and misguided beliefs.”One week is all we were supposed to share. One week as strangers. Yet you became so much more. You were the echo in my storm. All the little things you did differently irked me. I thought it meant we couldn’t get along, … it meant we couldn’t get along, that there was no chance we’d work out. But when it came time for me to leave, you know what I figured out?
They were the faint call of home, lost on the wind and the roar of thunder. It was you calling me, hoping I’d hear you and find my way out of the dark that I had lost myself in when I shut off to survive.
You were my echo. My call back.
And f*ck it all if I didn’t find home in the end.
Echoes in the Storm is a complete standalone.
It contains elements that may be difficult for some (such as PTSD and loss).

Wow what can I say that will do this book justice. Echoes In The Storm by Max Henry is a must read. Can a week change a life let alone two? Does love at first sight exist? Do you believe in Fate? To get the answers to these question you have to read Duke and Cam’s story.
What started as a crappy day with a broken down piece of crap lemon turns into a week filled with so many emotions and secrets revealed. Guilt over a terrible accident, loss of loved ones, betrayal and afraid of the dark this book will cause you to shed a few tears. It is so worth it. Max you have done a fantastic job telling us Duke and Cam’s story.
This book almost killed me, their tragedy was so painful.
But who knew a story about two broken souls could be so beautiful.
It’s an emotional read, dark and sad but I loved Cam and Duke together.
They understood each other’s pain I truly believe they were meant to meet.
I loved it.
I could not put this book, it took ahold of my heart and refused to let go. This is Cam and Duke’s story both are broken and living in the past, they both have had losses in their life that they both feel guilty for. They both where just surviving not living and just trying to make it through another day. When Duke’s brothers car breaks down in front of Cammie’s home and she takes him in for the night since no other place is open. I feel like their is an immediate connection but its more of irritation on Duke since he is so used to silence and Cammie is a chatterbox and is very in control of where things go in her home. These two where meant to be together they helped each other to overcome and work on their past so they can move into the future.
It is a truly beautiful story that will break your heart, and then heal you.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review. There are books in the course of your life that you will come across that will touch your soul and capture your heart and Echoes in the Storm is one of those for me. Duke and Cam’s story is emotionally and mentally draining but in such a good way. Their story gives you hope, strength and absolute happiness. Duke and Cam’s characters take over your thoughts, live in your heart and your mind well after you have read the last word in their story, they literally consume you. Their story may take you into the dark with them as they struggle with the storm of guilt they both suffer, it will make you cry and your heart will ache but in the end their strength will bring you into the light and your face will brighten with the biggest smile ever. I don’t even know if my rating on this book or my review can do this book enough justice as it is worth at least ten stars.
