The Tate Brothers were raised to protect what is theirs… Navy SEAL Wolf Tate is on a mission of vengeance. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to infiltrate the lair of his arms-dealing enemy–and rescue the mother he never knew. To do this, he’ll need more than his father’s fortunes or his brothers-in-arms.He must find a way to kidnap his enemy’s daughter for leverage. There’s just one … There’s just one problem: She is also one of Wolf’s closest friends–and the only woman he’s ever loved…
For years, Olivia de Santis has been waiting for Wolf to take her in his arms and make her dreams come true. But she never imagined that he’d sneak into her bedroom one night…and take her as his hostage. Olivia knows she should resist him–and stay loyal to her own family. But how can she deny the burning justice of Wolf’s mission, and the blazing desire in his eyes–even if giving into the heat of the moment can put her in grave danger?

I’m a big fan of Jackie Ashenden, especially her MC Romance. I started the Tate Brothers series in the middle, I’ve only read the 2nd & 3rd books. I learned enough about the brother’s adoptive father to know that I wasn’t a fan of his parenting style. He taught them hard lessons without the emotional support to back them up. So, of course, I wanted to give them virtual hugs and throw my Kindle at the one I felt was responsible for a big part of their damage. But neither of them saw his faults, believing he was only looking out for their best interests and glad for the lessons they learned from him. Let’s just agree to disagree regarding his version of tough love.
Olivia was a very reclusive sheltered daughter. She didn’t even attend school outside of her McMansion so she had very little access to make friends. When she ran into Wolf in her father’s library as a young teenager, he made a big impression on her. They spent some stolen time together, sharing details of their lives. She always knew he planned to enlist. Over the next decade, she wrote to him occasionally sharing some of her thoughts, but never her heart. She knew he could never be hers. But she wanted him to be…
Wolf told himself that he was just befriending his enemy’s daughter for future leverage. But even he knew he was lying to himself. He cared for her and knew that she felt the same. But once she learned of his deceit and he completed his mission she would hate him. He knew she could never be his. But he wanted her to be…
I found Olivia to be a contradiction. To be such a prim and proper buttoned up good girl who didn’t have any friends or fun she was actually feisty when riled up. And who better to do the riling that Wolf? I found it very amusing that her habit of sharing her thoughts with Wolf hadn’t changed over the years. Whether inappropriate or not, she said what she was thinking. She did the same with me in her internal dialogue. This was my favorite, Oh God, he was so hot she was going to have to check herself for scorch marks later.”
I had a lot of fun waiting for the bad boy to rub off on the good girl. The anticipation was delicious and the eventual passionate explosion did not disappoint. As I turned the last page wearing a smile I found myself wishing there was another Tate brother to look forward to. But alas, there were only three. So, I’ll be keeping my eye out to see what the author gets up to next. The line forms here…
Enjoyed the setup for this story; Olivia’s old crush, Wolf, kidnaps her to get back at her father, and throughout the experience realizes that there’s more of a connection between the two than Wolf originally thought. I like the whole second chance at love scenario, and that there’s a bit of suspense surrounding the situation with Wolf’s deception and revenge plot. I wasn’t a fan of how easily manipulated Olivia was, and that she didn’t really make Wolf work for her forgiveness. I liked the Navy SEAL aspect to Wolf, but he doesn’t really have mental strength. Both main characters are on the naive side of things. There’s some sweet moments to the romance and a bit of good steam; I liked them together, Olivia is good for Wolf. Overall, an entertaining read; a high 3 rating, I just wanted a bit more strength from the characters. Still a fun read!
Olivia de Santis and Wolf Tate have been friends for years and they always had feelings for one another but never acted on it. In fact Olivia is still a virgin in her 20s, while this isn’t so far fetched considering how controlling her father is I did find it rather hard to believe that she had no idea how ruthless her father was.
Wolf is a whole other story, he is a Navy Seal home on special leave because his father passed away. He and his brothers each received a letter from their adoptive father laying things out for them, with a mission they needed to uphold. Upon reading his letter Wolf thinks it’s in his best interest to kidnap Olivia because she is the daughter of his fathers enemy. Wolf was lied to and manipulated for the majority of his life and it was really sad seeing how he though he was unworthy of anything.
Unfortunately this series has been hit and miss with me. I liked the story for the most part but for me the chemistry just wasn’t there in this one. The sex scenes were hot but there just wasn’t any real feelings, it was more lust then love in my opinion.
This is the third and final book in this series and although you can read the books as a standalone I would suggest reading them in the order they were released so you will avoid any spoilers because they do cross over a bit.
Olivia’s brothers have their own series, The Billionaire Fairy Tales Series, and I really enjoyed their stories so you should check them out too.
Happy Reading!!!
Note to self: Don’t start a paperback book you’ve been looking forward to reading when you know you won’t have a lot of daytime reading time. Honestly, it really annoyed me that I didn’t have time to just sit and read this one. I’ve loved this whole series and my real-world commitments were messing with the pacing since I was forced to put it down again and again.
In case you can’t tell from the above paragraph, I really enjoyed this story. And moreover, I really loved this series overall. Wolf was the final piece to the Tate puzzle and it’s hard to believe this action and emotion pack story took place over just a few days total. It helps that Wolf and Olivia already know each other so it wasn’t what would be considered insta-love in my eyes. They’ve known each other for many years. Even if they haven’t seen each other in many years, they do keep up over email a bit. And the beginning of their friendship as teens was a pretty intense time for both of them so their friendship was cemented at a young age.
Although each of the books in this series can be read alone, it will be such a better experience if you read them all. Better yet, have them all on hand and ready to go and read them in order, one after the other. I really wish I had read them back to back to back myself. I imagine that would have been quite a fabulous experience.
But back to this story in particular. Poor Wolf has been used by pretty much everyone in his life for his whole life. He has such a bone deep need for family yet he that need blinds him from what a family really is (hint, it has nothing to do with DNA). In some ways, Olivia has the same issues. She has a family, but has never really felt wanted by them. She’s gone through life doing what every expects so as not to rock the boat and lose the little bit of affection she does get.
As much as Olivia struggles to get Wolf to see her as that family he feels is always just out of reach, she is blind to her own struggles. And while Wolf is aware that Olivia’s father is not the man she thinks he is, he is NOT aware of how deeply her father’s indifference has seeped into Olivia’s bones. Which means that even though he knows he’s hurting her, he doesn’t realize quite how deep the cut is going for her.
As usual, this author brings the heat and passion. She really knows how to write those steamy scenes, that’s for sure. And her storytelling is spot on here for the most part, although I would have loved a complete wrap up of the series as a whole. I’m not exactly sure I’ve had closure. There aren’t any big cliffhanger stories left dangling, but it just didn’t seem complete. So who knows, maybe I’m wrong and this isn’t the last we’ll see of the Tates.

This is the 3rd book in the Tate brother series. Like the other 2 brothers in the series, their Dad, leaves them each a note with a task they have to fulfill. Wolf’s task will lead him to finding his missing mother. He decides that he will use Olivia, DeSantis’ daughter and sworn enemy to the Tate’s, to help him find her. Olivia and Wolf have been long time friends with Olivia liking him way more than just a friend. He kidnaps her, why? (sigh) Then she is able to find his Mom rather quickly. Again why? This was an okay read for me. Ms. Ashenden is a go to author for me, but it seems with this series I was not in love with any of the books. 3 stars.
This is the third book in the “Tate Brothers” series by author Jackie Ashenden. This story was an enjoyable read with its sizzling passion, the emotional plot twists, and danger. But for some reason this just didn’t do it for me as much as the first book, which is definitely my favorite in the series. I wasn’t feeling the chemistry between our hero, Wolf, and the heroine, Olivia” I just felt like his passion for his mission was number one. I was also having a hard time with how naïve Olivia was but at the same time it worked because she wants to believe the good in her father and in Wolf. Even though it didn’t work 100% for me, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like. I just have a mind set on how a hero should be and I love sassy heroines. The story did have some jaw dropping moments for of “I can’t believe he did that” but you’ll have to read it to see what I mean. If you like SEAL story’s than this is for you.

Avid Reader –
M/F Romance
Triggers: Kidnapping, attempted murder.
This is the second book that I’ve read in this series. I didn’t enjoy this one nearly as much as the previous book.
Wolf is a hard character for me to like. He seems so naive and strange. He loves Olivia, but then uses her throughout the story. Then you have the issue that he seems to be manipulated so easily by several people in his life.
Olivia is a tough woman. I thought she was a stronger character, but still felt that she was missing something. She was so sheltered that it was hard to believe that she would’ve been able to see what truly was going on around her. She wanted Wolf to choose her and I can understand that. But in the end, her story was almost about getting even for Wolf.
They had decent chemistry and there were a lot of emotions floating around. Overall, this had potential, but just didn’t deliver for me.
Reviewers on the Wicked Reads Review Team were provided a free copy of The Undercover Billionaire (Tate Brothers #3) by Jackie Ashenden to read and review.
The Undercover Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden is book Three in the Tate Brothers Series. This is the story of Olivia and Wolf. I have read the other books in this series but feel this can easily be a standalone book.
Wolf and Liv have been friends since they were younger but Liv always had more feeling for him than just friends. Later in the present day Wolf is back after the death of his adoptive father. Wolf ends up getting a letter from him giving him information that could lead to finding out about his birth mother. To do so though he has to get information from the enemy and thinks to take his daughter as a hostage…that daughter is his friend Liv.
I have really enjoyed this series!
This one left me wanting. Wolf Tate is home on bereavement after his father died and like his other adoptive brothers he has received a letter with mission from his father to find his birth mother. To do this he will need to kidnap his best friend since high school, Olivia de Santis. This is where it goes off the rails. She is in her 20, a virgin, dresses like a nun, and has never been kissed. Really? Oh, and Wolf is a Navy SEAL and is convinced he is stupid. Okay, both have been manipulated throughout their lives and are continuing to be manipulating. There are twists and turns and power plays and, yes, there is chemistry but still something missing. Overall, I did enjoy this and ultimately there was a happy ending but just took forever to get there.
This is book 3 in the Tate Brothers series and you probably could read it on it’s own as each book is about a different brother, but if you want to know the back story then I strongly advise reading the first two books in order before this one.
This has been a great alpha male series by Jackie Ashenden and I have immensely enjoyed my journey with all 3 Tate brothers. This one is Wolfs story, not my favourite of the 3 but I still loved it regardless. I’m not going to rehash whats already in the blurb because it tells you all you need to know.
Wolf Tate is a Navy Seal Alpha through and through, he’s smart, all muscle, extremely good looking and can be such a dirty taker at times. All in all he’s what every reader would want their lead males to be in a book. Don’t get me wrong there was times in the first half of the book where I just wanted to throat punch him for the way he was treating Olivia but I think he more than makes up for it when he finally gets his act together.
Olivia De Santis is just simply smart and beautiful but she doesn’t get a lot of attention because her father hides her away from the outside world, so she has no idea how gullible she really is towards her father. That is until Wolf Tait opens her eyes to whats really going on under her nose and at first she refuses to believe that someone that close to her could be so callous. Olivia has loved Wolf since she was a teenager so her journey through the book isn’t an easy one and initially it’s hard reading because she is so gullible but you get to see her wisen up and grow more of a backbone i defending herself and her beliefs.
Overall it’s probably my least favourite of the series and I found it a little to wordy/descriptive in places but all the same it was still an enjoyable and extremely satisfying read and I am looking forward to see what the author brings us next.
The Undercover Billionaire is another gripping story by Jackie Ashenden. Ms. Ashenden has once again delivered a story that will grab your attention on the first page and hold you hostage till the end. Wolf is the youngest of the Tate Brothers and I think his story has more angst than the first two books of this series. Wolf kidnaps Olivia de Santis from her father’s home, Cesare de Santis is an enemy of the Tates. Olivia and Wolf’s story is loaded with action, suspense, drama, humor and sizzle. The characters, especially Olivia, and phenomenal. I enjoyed reading The Undercover Billionaire and look forward to reading more from Jackie Ashenden in the future. The Undercover Billionaire is book 3 of the Tate Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wolf Tate is the emotional, hot tempered Tate brother. He was raised to be his adoptive fathers weapon. He has been training all his life to take Caesar de Santis down. When Wolf’s father dies, he and his brothers are left letters. Wolf’s had that Noah Tate was really his father and as soon as Caesar was killed, he’d get a letter telling where his mother is. So he kidnaps Caesar’s daughter Olivia. She is his personal assistant and he wants her to give him her father’s schedule. Olivia has been the good, dutiful daughter to her father. She and Wolf had been friends for years but is hurt when she learns it was all lies.
Wolf and Olivia both have been hurt by family. The only thing both wants is to be loved. Can they find it in each other or will Wolf destroy any feelings Olivia had for him?
My favorite book in this series. Extremely sexy. A little mystery. Lots of sex. And a great story.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
The Undercover Billionaire is an extremely intense read that has so many twists that I had trouble trying to decide what was true and what was lies, so I had a thrilling time to figure it out. Olivia and Wolf had lots of steamy chemistry and a very rocky romance building in the middle of a tremendously difficult situation that not only kept the couple on pins and needles but the readers as well because their happily ever after will take a lot of work to overcome some emotional turmoil based on past beliefs.
The suspense builds throughout the story, keeping readers on the edge of their seat with anticipation and with every truth revealed or every step taken forward this couple seems to take two steps backwards which adds lots of tension and keeps things quite interesting. And what a conclusion to the Tate Brothers series this book turned out to be, because I was holding my breath waiting for the final truth to be revealed and whether Wolf would finally see beyond the past.
I was highly anticipating the release of The Undercover Billionaire as I really wanted to know how everything would work out for the 3rd Tate Brother and I have to say that I was certainly not disappointed as it kept me glued to the pages with some stunning twists and turns and some very intense emotional turbulence. These three brothers is one of those series that has readers falling for the hero and since each of them are special in their own way, I really loved them all and I could not tell you which would be my favorite.
The Undercover Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden
The Tate Brothers #3
I was looking forward to this book having rated the first two books rather highly. This book could have been so much better. Why do I say this? In the previous books I found Wolf to be strong, dark and rather mysterious with great potential but in this book, as his story emerged, I found him the most damaged and least able to think for himself. I understand that he had been rather brainwashed by his father but still…to be so immersed in his mission that he could not see beyond what his rather demented and twisted father had told him for so many years did not fall in line with my beliefs about a navy SEAL who must have been able to think for himself and make deductions on his own. I also found the things he did a bit…strange…to say the least. The relationship between Wolf and Olivia was difficult to believe, too. And, how could Olivia take some of the things Wolf said and still be interested in him? I will read more books by this author but this one was not my favorite.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
2-3 Stars
3.75 stars–THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE is the third ( and final) instalment in Jackie Ashenden’s contemporary, adult THE TATE BROTHERS romantic suspense series focusing on three foster brothers-Sullivan (Van), Wolf and Lucas Tate-as well as their foster sister Chloe Tate. This is thirty-year old Navy SEAL Wolf Tate, and twenty-eight year old heiress Olivia de Santis’s story line. THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary although I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory.
SOME BACKGROUND: In the aftermath of their adoptive father Noah Tate’s death, Van, Wolf and Lucas Tate are called home from active duty to find themselves the recipients of three letters outlining what the future has in store-letters from the grave asking each son for a final favor. There is a dark history between father and sons, marred by secrets and lies, and a father ill-equipped to look after the family he chose to raise.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Olivia and Wolf) THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE follows the acrimonious and heart breaking friendship between Navy SEAL Wolf Tate, and oil heiress Olivia de Santis. For close to thirteen years, Olivia believed Wolf Tate to be her only friend but her recent abduction by the man in question reveals the painful truth about their relationship and her father’s thirty-year war with Wolf Tate’s father. Wolf has been on a mission to ferret out the truth about the man who raised him as his own and his connection to Cesare de Santis only to realize that everything he believed to be true was closer to a lie. What ensues is the back and forth, caustic relationship between Olivia and Wolf, and the potential fall-out when Wolf refuses to back down from a mission that was going to h*ll.
The relationship between Olivia and Wolf is angry and antagonistic. For close to 13 years Wolf faked his friendship with Olivia de Santis, a friendship our heroine believed to be pure and true. Wolf’s revelation all but destroys our story line heroine, a woman who will give Wolf everything and more. The sex scenes are intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text but I struggled to feel any palpable sexual attraction due in part to Wolf’s cold reactions and continuous rejection of our story line heroine.
Throughout the story Wolf Tate slowly destroys our heroine’s heart. Olivia is an innocent, in more ways than one, but has become nothing more than a pawn in her father’s war against Noah Tate, a war that all but destroyed the boys Noah raised as his own. Wolf, desperate for the love of a family, will do almost anything to reveal the truth, a truth that will destroy his relationship with the woman with whom he will fall in love.
THE UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE is a story about vengeance and betrayal; deceit and family; power and control. The premise is a story of desolation and dejection; the romance suffers with one man’s lies and deception; the characters are broken, naïve and desperate. I did struggle with the believability and elaborate ruse of some of the story line and series premise including some important information that Olivia was able to find within ten minutes that our hero could not find for close to thirty years.
I became a fan of Ms. Ashenden’s when I read the Texas Bounty series and followed up with the two previous books in this amazing series, Tate Brothers.
All that said, I must confess that I was a little disappointed in this story.
Yes, the plot was engaging , filled with suspense, evil individuals, action, betrayals, and drama as well as a handsome protagonist. But the characters, just didn’t draw me to them. Wolff, as alpha as he was , was not my favorite of the brothers, I would say the least favorite. Olivia, the female character, was too naive for my taste.
That said, once again , we are presented with the fact that the sins of the fathers, and the upbringing of these two characters, as well as all that Wolff went through as a young boy, is what makes this story worthwhile . Will I go back to read this book, no, but will I continue to follow this author , yes.
Since opinions are subjective, this is more of a 3.5 for me, but for someone else it might be a 5.
I was gifted a copy of this book by Netgalley and St Martin’s Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I had such a hard time reading this book. Both main characters were doing and saying things that just made it difficult to get into. The H kept talking about how stupid he was but then talked about being a Navy SEAL. The h was a supposedly very smart 28 year old never been kissed virgin yet she naively believed everything she was told by everyone.
The author makes it clear the H was taught from a young age he was not smart enough to think on his own. I just can’t jive that with his accomplishments. It didn’t work for me.
It was also made clear the h was isolated from pretty much everyone for most of her life. With the exception of college, she was home schooled/tutored. But even with higher education, she took everything anyone told her at face value. When her friend shows up at 4 AM in her bedroom to kidnap her, she thinks nothing of going with him to chat…
**I received a copy of The Undercover Billionaire from St. Martin’s Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
The Undercover Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden is the third book in the authors series. I truly enjoyed the first two books but this just didn’t give me the zip and zing like the previous ones. I’d give this addition 3.5 stars total.
Wolf Tate has always wanted one thing to know where his mother is but when the will was read after his father’s death he gets another shock, in order to know where she is he has to kill Cesare. DeSantos. So he figures the best way is to kidnap Olivia and tell her about her father as things aren’t really what they seem. But will she come willingly and believe him?
Olivia has always felt that her friendship with Wolf Tate is special but when he leaves her after graduation to join the Navy she wonders if her feelings are one sided. Flash forward ten years and he’s suddenly in her room and isn’t a young boy anymore in fact he’s become handsome. But he wants her to come with him plus when he tells her father been lying to her for years, will she believe him or Wolf? There are twists and turns and some rather got sex but it’ll all come down to can he kill her father and convince Olivia he cares for her deeply?
