When Jaden realizes he has no clue how to find the other seekers meant to help, the slope becomes a gaping abyss. And with a horde of Gaptors hounding them, Jaden can’t see his way clear to finding answers spanning millennia.
Will Jaden’s desperation make him careless or can he drag himself from the mire one more time and finish this quest before he dooms humanity to its inevitable fate?

Jaden and Kayla continue their adventure with new and returning friends. The world-building is nicely done; the intensity of the battles is well-written; the training they experience is intense but makes a lot of sense in the overall expectation of what they’re going to do. I enjoyed the story very much. The romantic tension continues to build slowly between Jaden and Kayla without becoming forced or too much. This was very appreciated by this reader! It was kept clean and not the focus. It is an undercurrent, but they show remarkable maturity to follow through on what is in front of them first before choosing to pursue a relationship. Well done.
I received an ARC and the review is my own.
The adventure continues in this second book of Leroux’s Destiny book series. By now, the characters are established; yet she continues to grow them as the story continues. The adventure is quite captivating even though Sci-Fi isn’t a genre I usually enjoy. New characters are added which is necessary at this point. The story development is well done, though there are times where the story does drag a bit. It took me longer to finish this second book than the first, but I did end up enjoying the new twists in the plot development. The twist in regards to the tie into the past was especially intriguing. I just wish it would have happened earlier, though I don’t think it could have.
My main critique is the same as the first book. The characters are just too nice, and even Jaden with his temper issues is even too nice and polite. His temper is starting to get a bit overwhelming and unnecessary. I would have expected him to simmer down by now and attempt to rein it in. My other main criticism is that the main characters spend way too much time pining about their feelings about each other, and it becomes distracting. There are times that I skip over it, because it’s the same excuses and feelings over and over. How they feel battling with their conscience telling them to focus at the task at hand. FINALLY by the end, they act on their emotions, though this is still a young adult story in my opinion since there is no sex.
In the end, the story develops enough and still captivates me so I do want to finish the trilogy. I honestly don’t know why so many people did not finish this second book after liking the first. It baffles me that there aren’t more reviews for these books. I’m excited to see how Leroux grows as a writer even though I’m finding these books a long time after they were published.
