Calista Parker a girl that had a rough life and didn’t want handouts, she felt rich people would look down on her and that Griffin would be the same. I love how Griffin proved her wrong and treated her so well and with so much love. This book surprised me and I liked that when something happens that you didn’t expect. This was an great book!
So this had a Pretty in Pink feel to me. Cali definitely had Molly’s attitude about certain things. I really liked Griffin but things fell short for me with Cali. She had a lot on her plate and refused to have others help her out. She was very stubborn and prideful. She knew what was on her plate and dealt with it. I just felt like she could have let me Griffin and Tab in a little more. They wanted to help and she’d just turn them down. Now what I didn’t expect to happen is the twist in this book. I knew there had to be a reason, other then it paid well, for Cali’s mom to stay at Donovan’s. I admire Griffin for having patience and sticking by her even when she tried to push him away. He wanted to do the right thing but got told not to. This book was good but I was seriously thrown off with how Cali handled certain things. I couldn’t connect to her at all. I actually wanted to smack her at times.
Calling California is the first book I’ve read by this author. This book was an easy read and kept me sucked in until the end. This book was Cali and Griffins love story. They both come from two entirely different places but fit together perfectly. I found this to be a very emotional read. I shed quite a few tears but it ended perfectly. It’s a must read. I would like to read the other books in the Hunter Hill University Series.
The beginning of the book pulls you in and makes you wonder whats going to happen next. Cali saved for 2 years to get to go college. Helping her mom pay bills was her main focus especially with her dad so sick. She notices Griffin on her first day in one of her classes. He was just awesome to look at. He doesn’t notice her till he officially meets her at her job as a bank teller. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more from this author
Griffin and Calista come from two different worlds. After meeting in a class at college, or so they think that’s their first meeting, they find out just how much their lives are intertwined and it will rock them both to the core. This book will give you all the feels and keep you reading from start to finish, yet my only complaint is that I wanted more at the end.
It started out on a Christmas Eve party with 2 boys a little bit older than a brunette little girl that shared a cookie with her & even gave her his new game system that was brand new! 13 years passed Cali is sitting in college and she notices a cute boy named griffin after a certain poem is read could griffin be that boy that gave her his game? And what secrets are these two families are holding?
From the beginning and the Gameboy story, I was hooked. You could feel the goodness of Griffins heart. This isn’t your typical, cocky, rich college boy story. It has depth. The relationship has so many struggle, so much pride and a few surprises. The part of her dad was close to home, so I may have cried a timemor two with the emotions of it all.
I mostly enjoyed this story. I loved Griffin’s character and how he treated Cali with such love and respect. At times, I felt that the whole “don’t see me as poor” was way overplayed by Cali. I get that she had her pride, but not everyone was always out to get her.
There were some surprises throughout the story that I didn’t see coming, which was a good thing.
Overall, an interesting and enjoyable read, especially for a college-aged romance.
3.5 Stars!!
3.5 Stars!!
This was a pretty good book. There were some parts of the story where I new what was coming, However,,, What I didn’t know was how this book would suck me in near the end!! I was actually crying!! What starts out as your typical story of poor girl who falls hard and fast for rich boy, quickly turns into more than just that. There are plot twists I didn’t see coming and was quite surprised! There is ALOT more to this story than just the characters love for each other. This book gives you hope….
Ok read
Cali and Griffin are what I would describe as a typical relationship. However, there are a couple twists I did not see coming. It was an ok read but not a favorite for me.
