This is series just keeps getting better. So far this was the most thrilling, emotional, and exciting ride to go on. Maddox and Hazel embarked on a journey of letting go the past, their pain, and learning to live again without all the hurt. They did not start out on the right foot but they slowly develop a connection that is beautiful. I think I went through every emotion reading this book. This is a story that will stick with me for a long time. Great story.
Maddox’s life changed for the worse the day he made friends with Night, he just didn’t realise it yet! Ava was his everything, she was broken and he tried to make her world a better place! Unfortunately he chose to blame himself for letting her down and not saving her from the dark life she knew. He grounded himself as a tattooist at St. Skin. But he would never give his heart away because he’d already done that. Hazel was a photographer and she was contracted to take photos of everything at St. Skin. Tate wanted real photos of the buildings and staff doing everyday things. His aim was for the public to connect and feel the soul of the place! Hazel’s first photo was of Maddox having a smoke out the back, he was furious when he heard the click of the camera. Whilst Maddox hated the camera and being photographed Hazel loved to hide behind it and see a persons vulnerability!
They have done it again. This novel is an intense love story that we have come to love from these two amazing authors. The relationship between Maddox and Hazel is made even better with their combined past that is similar, yet different and the fact that it intersects without their knowledge just makes it that much more real. They have taken a subject, suicide, and treated it with the respect that it deserves while keeping it real in how it can affect those left behind. Loved this book. Can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Jaxson Kidman and London Casey have done it again – made me a little teary eyed, made me angry, but then gave me some hope. Secret Exposure is the 3rd in the St. Skin series, and what a story it is! Maddox and Hazel are two damaged people who end up finding each other when they least expect it. She’s the new photographer tasked by Tate, owner of St. Skin tattoo shop, to document his shop and his crew. No one is less happy with the idea of being photographed than Maddox is. He doesn’t like the exposure because he’s been exposed in his past, and it wasn’t a pretty time in his life. In fact, most of his life wasn’t pretty. But Hazel is pretty, beautiful, in fact. And it irritates Maddox that he notices how beautiful the new photographer is. The photographer that keeps stealing pieces of his soul every time she takes a photo of him. He starts to notice other things about Hazel, though. Like how she has secrets hidden behind her eyes. How she panics sometimes for no reason that he can understand. He knows she’s scared of something, but what is it?
He determines that he’s going to help her, protect her, be there for her, because he wasn’t there for someone in his past. He didn’t notice things about this person in his past until it was too late, far, far too late. And because of that, he’s got a jagged soul, a sad, sometimes angry heart. But, he won’t let that happen to Hazel with the green eyes. Hazel, the woman he’s starting to fall for. Hazel, the woman who doesn’t want to let him into her life, expose herself to him. But, she finally lets him in because she their connection is too strong for her to keep denying. And then she decides she’s going to tell him her biggest secret, but will that secret drive him away? Will she lose him?
As per usual with Jaxson and London, Secret Exposure is gritty and raw, but it’s not unrelentingly dark. It’s got moments of light peeking through all the grey. Maddox and Hazel have a twisted up past connection that neither knew about until almost the end, but it ends up creating a pretty special feeling of hope in their present. Without the moments of hope, I’m not sure I would have loved Secret Exposure as much as I do, but Jaxson and London know how to temper the dark. They gave Maddox and Hazel, two broken souls, hope for their future. A future that I know is going to have much more light than they previously ever had.
Another great St. Skin book, loved Maddox and Hazel story, emotions are deep.
My oh my, with every book in this series we fall I love with the whole group. They way that you guys bring it to life is beyond amazing and beautiful. To visualize what you have written brought me to tears. They were two people who desperately needed love in their life but had a hard time finding that right person. I’m glad to have had the chance to read them and I’m looking forward to the next in the series. Keep up the fabulous work. I absolutely give it 5+ stars.
