I love historical fiction and this was a story that was well researched and fairly true to how it happened. The characters were well developed.
This book started slow for me but soon became one I couldn’t put down. Great character development.
A great way to learn history. Kept my attention throughout.
Heartbreaking story told with archival words.
I didn’t finish this book. It seemed rather ordinary and uninteresting to me.
This book was a bit drawn out in places and either the writing or the editing was lacking. Jerky and disjointed in places and difficult to make sense of. It was interesting to learn about this time period however.
This is a wonderful piece of historical fiction. You are going to want to read book 2 in the trilogy!
A good story.
kinda slow starting but once i got into it , i had to finish
Good book for lovers of historical fiction! The author’s depiction of the time period is believable and the character, Prince James, likable. Hard to put down.
Very well done. And easy read about a part of history I had a very limited knowledge of. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was hard to follow and just doesn’t jive with all the historical readings about this period of history.
Fascinating read. Great learning experience for those interested in historic battle planning.
This is an enjoyable read about old England warring with old Scotland. I love tales that tell of the lives of people in the 1400’s. A very interesting tale of warring for control.
Wonderful read
enjoyed this read
Accurate historic fiction with a close look at the warring factions in Scotland and England.
Scotish King James the 1 was captured at the age of 12 by the English King. He held him captive for many years. Then when he died he had his son promise to let James go, he promised his father but did not keep that promise . Finally years later when he was dying did he let King James go. I thought it was terrible to keep a young boy …
Enjoyed it. Well written, and seemingly historically accurate descriptions of life in those times.
Good historical fiction from a different point of view
