Good read
Chosen by R.S. Broadhead is the first volume of The Urban Legends Series. If you like the books that mix fantasy, mystery, magic and are peppered with a bit of romance just for flavor, it means you’ve won the jackpot.
Again we will soar into the darkness of the human soul.
R.S. Broadhead will arm us for this trip only with a simple flashlight, but even more, we’ll have the surprise that in full journey this will start to malfunction and, at some point, it will stop completely. Did I make you curious? I hope so! Because her book is one that will not coddle her characters, but everything is just to offer you a story as exciting and attractive as possible. I’m certain that the aficionados of the above genres will be fully satisfied. To my contentment, at least for this novel and most of the books I have read lately, the authors, like R.S. Broadhead, do not waste time with too descriptive introductions, excessive protagonists’ characterization, or who knows what else that could bore readers. No, it all starts determined, almost blunt. And I’m not talking about those stories that feature a non-linear course in which both action and characters are presented in a manner that does not respect the timeline of the story. I’m talking about a story with a clear timeline, where everything comes in a readable way. But what may seem logical and rational does not mean that it cannot pass at any moment in irrational, fantastic and supernatural. And once you get the supernatural, everything will be exacerbated
All human feelings, good or bad, and everything we think we can keep hidden in the depths of our soul will find a way to surface not exactly at the best moments. R.S. Broadhead knows how to skillfully exploit this aspect of our nature. And not only that, the author knows precisely how to dose the emotion she will pass within the pages of her book. Everything will be graded, everything will accumulate and will erupt at the right time when the whole tension of the story will come to paroxysm. The book has its own pace, not too alert, not too slow, just good to accumulate the suspense, so characteristic for the mystery novels. From where the story goes and how it will end, you will find out by yourself reading the book. One thing I can tell you, this is an unexpected ending story. Not so much in what regards the subject, but how its characters will evolve. In fact, this evolution of the characters may some please some of you, or not. That’s it! But the conclusion is the eternal one: the debts always must be paid!
Enjoy the creepiness!

This horror book with a twenty-something professional woman named Piper and a creepy small town and a frightening creature was good.
I liked Piper and cheered her on, but she was just reacting to things (and healing after injuries). I kept wanting her to devise a Big Plan.
I loved the scary scenes (the closet, the mausoleum, the fire), but they and other scenes didn’t flow together. The story seemed disjointed.
I liked the ending, but I think the story ended with the wrong character, a bit of a let down.
So while I think the story was good, it could have been great. It just didn’t get there. I wouldn’t hesitate to read another book from Broadhead, though, because the elements that worked were excellent.
Was too easy to put down…..
This book did not interest me.
Did not for book
I had a very hard time with this book, it just could not hold my interest..seemed to drag…finally gave up and switched to another book. someday I may go back to this one, but I doubt it
Kind of slow. But keeps you guessing til the end. Ok book.
Great book! Will definitely read the others in the Twisted series. If you like horror, you will love this book. Scary good!
I definitely enjoyed this book. Very scary in my opinion. Original and new. I found it very difficult to put down once I started. Give it a try, it won’t disappoint. Won’t be surprised to see this on the big screen, in fact I really hope it does.
I didn’t like the ending
Love horror, this tale of BKE’s was awesome!!!!!
Really scared crazy!
Awful. Couldn’t finish.
Suspenseful!
Wow! Just Wow! This book is creepy as hell. Great read to get you into the Halloween spirit.
Piper sure has been through alot with the abuse at the hands of her father, then his disappearance, living with her grandfather only to be sent away for college. After college she started a new life in New York. New job, boyfriend and friend. Everything is perfect.
Perfect doesn’t last long when everything suddenly falls apart. She gets a call about the unexpected death of her grandfather. Her boyfriend chooses his family over going with her to Alabama to bury her Grandfather. So she goes alone. She starts having nightmares and then strange things start happening. Then she starts seeing black-eyed children watching her. Totally creeped out she decides to look into her grandfathers past. When secrets are slowly uncovered she realizes it may be too late. She is alone and scared and doesn’t know who to trust.
This book has the creep factor in high effect! A page turner from the beginning, keeping you on the edge of your seat! With so many twists and turns you won’t know what to think. It will give you chills, making the hair on your neck stand on end. It has many “I didn’t see that coming moments.” Let’s talk about the creepy ass black eyed kids. Move over “Village of the Damed” theres a new group of kids in town.
This is the first book.by Ms. Broadhead I have read. I was very impressed. Her imagination in the land of horror to create this story could give Stephen King a run for his money. This story could easily be the next urban legend to pass down scaring people for many generations.
