Love only works when your heart is in the right place. Hers could be right next door… ready to hand over her heart…but she could use a distraction.
Bodhi has one rule: never leave anyone behind. As a special operative, he knows that each new mission is more dangerous than the last. He’s never made a promise of forever to a woman, not even to the beautiful widow who has him tied in knots. And if there were anyone who could tempt him into putting down roots, it would be Bridgette and her adorable son.
But as his next deployment nears, they make a startling discovery. Their passion, meant only for the here and now, might already be blossoming into something more…

Only for You is book 2 in the Sugar Lake Book but is can easily be a stand alone.
Bodhi Booker is renovating a home for his mom who’s moving to Sugar Lake in the very near future. Her new home is next door to young widow Bridgette Dalton and her cute little boy, Louie.
Reading along while Bodhi and Bridgette fight their intense attraction had me reminiscing all those old awkward moments when I first met my husband; being tongue tied, caught staring, blushing at inappropriate times….
I completely understood their stance on not wanting to have a relationship. Bodhi isn’t going to be in town long and with his job he doesn’t want to risk putting someone through what he and his mom experienced when his father passed. Having already experienced loss it’s not a journey that Bridgette wants to open herself up to plus she now has to think of Louie.
I absolutely love the moments that Bodhi is showing/teaching Louie how to do things around the house. Being a male role model for him. It just made my heart melt.
The secondary characters in this book add a lot of humor that for me, made me connect more with the story. Made it more realistic.
This was a wonderful fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
You know a book is good when you don’t want it to finish and that’s exactly how I felt about Only You, this is book two in the Sugar Lake Series and it’s Bodhi Booker and Bridget Dalton’s story and what a great story it is.
Bodhi is in Sweetwater fixing up a house he purchased for his mum, he will only be in town for a few weeks and the last thing on his mind is a relationship in fact he doesn’t do relationships so why does the single mother living next door make his insides twist and turn…..
Bridget is a young widow trying to get her life back together with the help of her family and friends in Sweetwater and the last thing she expects is to get feelings for the sexy guy working next door.
This is a beautifully written love story with characters that are easy to connect and fall in love with especially when you see how Bodhi interacts with Bridget’s amazing little boy. Melissa Foster has a way with words and she makes you feel like her characters are your friends as you get to know them through her descriptions of people and places, can’t wait for book 3 in the series.
5 Star Review of Only For You (Sugar Lake #2) by Melissa Foster
This was one of those books that once I started I really did not want to put down. I loved everything about this book, particularly single mum Bridgette Dalton and her sexy neighbour Bodhi Booker.
This was a book full of mixed emotions, not least of which is fear. An emotional roller-coaster of a read that had me laughing and crying at times so invested was I in Bridgette and Bodhi’s story.
I haven’t read the first book in the series but I enjoyed this one so much that as soon as I finished I went and one clicked and started reading it straight away.
Only For You is a heart warming story of hope, courage and overcoming bone deep fear, of love and trusting that the one you love will be there to catch you if you fall.
Bodhi was such an amazing character that I freely admit I would like him in my life. The characters were not only well written but totally likeable and easy to relate too. I also felt that the supporting characters were amusing and fun to read about.
Ms. Foster wove a tale that kept me captivated from the first page until the last. I will most certainly be keeping my eye out for the next book in the series as I anxiously wait to find out who is next in the series.
Only for You is book 2 in the Sugar Lake series. Bridgette and Bodhi both have lost a loved one in the past. Bridgette never wants to go through that pain again. Bodhi never wants to be the one that leaves his family behind. As sparks fly between them and things start to get more intense, they realize they just might have more than a fling. I loved Louie and the interaction with him. This book was really good, and I highly recommend it.
When our heart gets broke, instinct causes us to withdraw & curl up to protect it from hurt again. Often it takes something special, like a child’s love, to pull us from such a dark & dismal part of our lives. Only the truly brave & strong open themselves up to the pain again. Bridgette lost her young husband in a horrible accident. She’s dedicated her life to raising her son & trying to make up for him growing up without a father. She doesn’t need a man in her life. Then she runs into Bohdi in her sister’s bakery. Now he’s all she can think about. What is she going to do?
Bodhi is an ex-soldier that is still running rescue missions trying to save the world. He doesn’t want anyone left behind like his father was. He doesn’t “do” relationships, only one night stands. He feels that way, no one is apt to get hurt if he doesn’t make it back from a mission. Why does Bridgette & her son make him regret that?
Melissa Foster has given her readers another story of life, love, pain, & forgiveness. Bodhi has to realize no matter how many people he saves, it will never be his father. Bridgette needs to realize that she deserves to find love again. The attraction between them is hot, intense & all consuming. The characters are well developed & realistic. I loved the way they all interact with each other. Bridgette’s sisters always have her back, even if they don’t agree with what she is doing. This book may be the second in the series but can be read as a stand alone. I really can’t wait to see what Ms. Foster comes up with for the next one!
Many of our most defining moments are born of heartache and pain. What makes them prolific is that, those instances are when a person is at their strongest. Ms. Foster never seems to forget that and it shows within her stories. In the face of loss, adversity and uncertainty, she inspires. Only for You is a tale of fearlessness. Bridgette is afraid of being left behind. Bodhi is a loner. His career has made him that way. A dangerous lifestyle leaves no room for a heart, when he’ll only end up breaking someone else’s in the long run. How does a person learn not to fear life, when hurt is their constant companion? With a little bit of hope, a whole lot of faith and an abundance of love, anything is possible. That’s what’s so special about this author. She pushes readers to open their hearts and believe in the impossible. Love has no boundaries.
