This book was really griping and concerning! Perfect read for during a snowstorm as most of the book involves people trapped in NYC during a storm and terrorist attack!! Fans of survivalist type books will love. The game The Division (in my opinion) seemed to come right from the pages of this book. Loved it!!
Cyberterrorism as an Attack on our Minds as Much as our Bodies
CyberStorm is a story of survival, a tale about Mike Mitchell and his family and friends struggling to stay alive in New York City without power, without water, with rapidly diminishing food supplies, and with limited, unreliable communications. Presumably the result of a cyberattack, …
Amazing. One of my all time favorite books! I never read a book twice, but I could do that with this one.
This book provides a realistic take of the tricks our prejudice and brain can play on us. In maintaining the media is on information overload 24/7, it is easy to understand Mike’s fears, challenges and forgone conclusions. Are we not fed a continuous line of fluff while the real issues at hand are swept under the rug, thus allowing us to project …
It will make whatever storm you’re in seem mild in comparison
This is another book that I borrowed for free because I am a Prime member! Well–I found another author who I really like. So much so that I already purchased another of his books!
This book kind of frightened me because I could actually see it happening. A Cyber attack was launched by parties unknown. In an apartment building in NYC neighbors …
A very interesting well crafted plot and engaging characters. Excellent plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat and waiting for the next shoe to drop.
Fantastical Yet All Too Real. Reading this book 6 yrs after publication in preparation for the coming sequel, this has come to hit a little to close to reality for comfort. With the ongoing Coronavirus scare and the Turkish power outages, it is very easy to see these days just how easy a scenario like what happens in this book could be made …
This is a hard book for me to rate. I thought the writing style was excellent. The story was plotted out well with great action and mostly realistic scenarios.
My main issue was how quickly the end folded. At one point in the story, there is an opportunity for a clean break. The ending was such a good idea, that I wish it would have been its own …
This was my first read by Mathew Mather and it was intense! The premise behind CyberStorm feels like it could really happen. Made me want to go stock up on enough stuff to live for several weeks. Very well written. The depth to the characters left you feeling like you were living through the CyberStorm right with them. Will be reading more by …
Kept me up way past my bedtime several nights in a row – an edge of your seat thriller!
Given the world’s connectivity, this book shows the need for international cybersecurity. With ongoing data breaches, we can only imagine what could lie ahead, and this story could turn out to be more accurate than we’d like. In addition to that, it’s an exciting read with a great collection of characters!
Another book that I stopped at the 10% mark. I just couldn’t get into this. I didn’t care about the characters; the in-laws were stereotypical ‘old money’ from NY; the disapproving father wore an ascot; the spoiled daughter yearned for more…
Maybe it got better later on, but I just couldn’t do
Very entertaining and engaging. It was hard to put down.
There’s a lot to enjoy in this gripping thriller. There’s a drama of family and friends as the USA slides into a systemic collapse, but there are also thought-provoking moments and one or two surprising insights that may well stay with you after you’ve finished reading. No spoilers, but it dropped a star for the last section of the book. It was …
Really enjoyed this book. Thought provoking.
loved the book! it really took our perspective in a confusing situation and twisted it! Don’t let your preconceived notions twist what you see.
Very interesting read, good story line, I especially like how he develops the characters you feel like they are your friends. Learned some things about the cyber world.
Cyberstorm is a strange read about something many writers have used as a premise for their work. The question of what you would do if electric power is cut off. We all have had power cut off for a few minutes or hours. We just wait and someone would fix it. I fear that most Americans would just sit and wait, knowing there is someone who is …
