#1 Bestselling Romantic Comedy#3 Overall Bestseller on Amazon————————————————When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven…well, not so much. It’s just that my lofty dreams–making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily–have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me … that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.
That is, until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.
With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.
Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.
It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.
It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.more
4.25 stars! Really fun read! This author never disappoints! Beautiful, but a bit quirky, heroine is stuck in a job going nowhere and even worse love prospects, meets new to town, veterinarian hero who has no intention of falling in love after a bad breakup. Both main characters were very lovable and perfect for a light romance. Add in an untrained huge puppy(monster) into the mix and the book got very funny at times. Needless to say it kept my attention! Narration rates 5 stars for both narrators. Recommended to adult contemporary romance readers. Available on the Audible Romance Package.
This was a very sweet and fun story—the perfect summertime read.
I’m not a fan when rival women in books are referred to as “crazy” (details like that are the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars), but overall this book is really enjoyable. Grey does a wonderful job of building the story up to have the characters thrown together in exactly the types of scenes you’re hoping they’ll be stuck in (Chance encounters! Car breakdowns! All the things). And if you’re a dog person, you’ll definitely like this book. I’m looking forward to checking out more romantic comedies by Grey!
I really was L-ing OL.
I loved this story. The narration was perfect. The story divine. I couldn’t stop the audio.
I want a Mouse. I want a Dr. Foxe.
I’d been looking for a good veterinan romance and I found it! R.S. Grey was a new-to-me author and I found this book on Kindle Unlimited.
It has a pretty high rating for romance and I got to read it for free with my subscription, so I didn’t see how it could go wrong! And it didn’t!
The book started off a bit rocky for me. I was thinking that I might be in the minority. The first couple chapters had some really wordy paragraphs and it took me a tiny bit to get into the groove of the authors writing. But once I did, I couldn’t put it down! I finished it in two days!
The story is told in dual perspective, 1st person POV, by the hero and heroine on alternating chapters.
The hero, Adam, is a big city vet moved to small town Texas after a failed 5 year engagement. The heroine, Madeline, is a 28-year-old failing real estate agent, who is hopeful when it comes to love and dating but not who I would call desperate.
Adam and Madeline have a great meet cute that involves her giant puppy! It’s kinda a hate to love romance but the hate part lasts for a very short amount of time! I liked that. It bothers me when characters waste a ton of time talking crap about each other while also lusting after them.
It’s got great secondary characters. Adam’s family, Madeline’s brother and sister-in-law aka also Madeline’s best friend. Even the evil women working at the same real estate agency were fun characters. I enjoyed hating on them as much as Madeline did!
This book has a fair share of language, mostly the sh- word and several f-bombs. There’s not violence. There are two love scenes, pretty detailed but not overly so. Lots of making out and petting.
This is a light hearted, funny romance! If you enjoy small town, puppy love then you’ll enjoy this one! And I’ll definitely be reading more romances by R.S. Grey!
This was a great book from start to finish. I wish there would have been a little bit more at the end though. I enjoyed the interactions between the two main characters and their pets. I definitely recommend this book, and this author.
