“In her arms, he’d finally discovered a place to belong, a place that was his and his alone. “
A wonderful sweet, emotional, historical romance. With inspiration from the real-life Doolittle Raiders, the history of WWII is woven throughout the story and comes to life. Shanna Hatfield consistency writes very strong female characters. While Sergeant Klayne did return a hero, Delaney really shows her strength as she faces numerous challenges on the ranch. Hatfield’s in depth research is blended so well in this book combining the history with romance, humor, emotions, and turmoil. I was engaged throughout the entire story and captivated by the characters, especially Delaney. I’m eagerly awaiting book 3 in the series, coming September 2018.
This is the second book in the “Hearts of War” series. It fills us in on the family who live in Pendleton, Oregon. WWII is in full force and Klayne is getting ready to be shipped out. We are taken along as both Klayne and Delaine navigate through the days and months that they are apart.
This is a story that so closely follows the struggles of that time in history. I loved the characters and now on to the third and final book in the series.
Love Shana Hatfields books
Shanna Hatfield is my favorite author!! Hands down!! I have read most of her books. She is amazing, factual and shows that she does excellent research. I do prefer the cowboy/rancher genre, other books are also very well written. I really liked the new series as of now, about World War II. Most of her stories are in and around Oregon. I love the historical. I love that each month she offers a book for free or 99 cents.
I love Bookbub and look forward to checking each day! Thank you!
Historical and a true love story
I received a copy of Home of Her Heart by Shanna Hatfield from Netgalley. Klayne and Delaney “Dee” gave the readers a looks into the lives of servicemen and the women who loved the during the terrible time when Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. This was a sweet, heartwarming, emotional read. You could almost feel what Klayne, Delaney and poor Ryatt were feeling and going through. I cried through part of this book, it is that emotional. I look forward to reading more in this series.
I don’t often get to read stories from this era and thoroughly enjoyed this one. Very heartwarming and emotional. Delaney and Klayne have had such a whirlwind romance and then were separated for months. Months of not knowing whether Klayne was dead or alive. He had volunteered for a very dangerous mission during WWII and wasn’t sure he would make it back. He needed someone who would miss him if he was gone. Delaney is that person. Delaney was left at home to pick up the pieces of everything else that happened in life. She lost so much is such a short span of time and she still waited for her husband to let her know if he was dead or alive. Good story.
Wondersful story about the soldiers and their families left behind after Pearl Harbor.
