Fun and wine!
Oh, how hard is it to accept yourself for who you are? A very interesting twist on that concept. Maxine is a very interesting and amusing character, especially how the author makes her talk to herself.
There are hilarious tidbits not to miss and it’s full of sass, lovedi it!
An emotional rollercoaster this one turns out to be. In many ways i can relate to Max, a young woman in a horrid and abusive relationship who gets the courage up to leave the prick and ends up going to a vineyard in Napa , as an escape and for her job. She gets sucked into a steamy romantic relationship with the uber hot French guy named Chase. Max has difficulty discerning how a drop dead hunk could possibly want her as her low self-esteem and image comes to the forefront but can’t deny her own feelings for Chase. I won’t spoil what happens, but believe me that there’s a few twists that puts their relationship on shaky ground. I will admit that at times it was difficult to read because as I said, I relate to Max in many ways but overall, it’s a wonderful story of self discovery, growth, and love. I highly recommend this one, with a side cheese and a glass of wine! Cheers!
What a fun read! The story of Max is about a woman dealing with emotionally abusive relationship and eventually learning to love herself and set boundaries. It has a lot of funny moments but emotional ones, too. What I loved about this book is that the characters are very realistic. You can literally see it in today’s life. How people act, what they pay attention to and how society molds them to its own set “standards”. Chase was a bit of a wimp and I did want to slap him few times, only if I could lol The quotes about wine before each chapter were a beautiful edition to the story! I’m looking forward to reading more of this author. Definitely recommend this!
Whine with Cheese really captures the imagination regarding finding yourself and loving who you are, even when you feel flawed. I enjoyed Maxine’s best friend’s honesty, guiding Maxine to really look at how she talks to herself and about herself. The twist in the middle of the book caught me by surprise, one which propelled the story to a totally different level of interest. The romantic scenes were tastefully written where you understood the emotions perfectly, yet the details were left to the imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the witty writing style.
Fun and fast read. The perfect cotton candy for a trip to the beach. Great characters and locations. I love all the sass! I enjoyed Max’s road to self-discovery and love.
Absolutely Beautiful
I loved this book; it’s the kind of book you take in bed on a rainy day. I read this book pretty fast because it was sweet and had a good pace. I felt like I was watching a nice movie. Although Max was in a loveless, emotionally abusive relationship, she found it hard to take the decision and break things with her boyfriend. However, after she caught him with another woman, she had the courage to leave him. While she was trying to deal with her new situation, she met Chase, the sexy, hot vineyard owner, who gave her a romantic weekend she couldn’t forget. She was starting to fall in love with him when an accident happened to her and lead her back to her abusive boyfriend. But Chase didn’t give up and tried to win Max back. The author did a great job with the scenes and the romantic atmosphere. Some scenes kept me smiling and some took my breath away. I highly recommend this book for romance lovers.
I’ve read this authors work before and love the humor she twists into her stories. Romance, comedy, friendship and California wine country. What’s not to like. I laughed and really liked this second book of this author. HighlyRecommend.
This is a really good book. It tells an interesting tale and is a fun read. It draws you in and captures your imagination. The characters are great and loveable (or hateable, depending on which ones you are talking about).
I made mistake of reading books 1 and 2 out of order. I enjoyed book 2 enough to go back and read book 1, but I wish I had read it first as I would have gotten much more out of book 2. While I enjoyed this book, for me it was let down by the spoilers in book 2. Having said that, it did nicely fills in the details for events referred to in book 2. It also demonstrates how well the author did with progressing and evolving the characters. My recommendation, definitely give this book a go, then move on to book 2. It follows on nicely and is different enough to be just as enjoyable as book 1.
I will definitely be reading book 3 when it is available.
Which of us hasn’t dreamed of having the courage to walk away from a critical, emotional abusive relationship only to meet a man who loves us just the way we are? It seems like Maxine has finally met her perfect match when everything goes wrong and a series of mishaps results in her dreams being dashed once again. I could really relate to the main characters self-doubts, insecurities and fears. I loved the honesty and courage they showed in facing their dilemmas and eventually, rising above their weaknesses. An excellent plot, complex motivations, dreamy characters, and a captivating setting kept me up way past my bedtime! Highly recommended for romance lovers.
Whine with Cheese is a steamy romance with some twists and a lot of soul-searching. It isn’t every day that our crush coalesces into an actual romance, but Max manages to do just that with Chase L’Angevin. Of course, the first meeting wasn’t precisely what she’d imagined, but she manages to get over the horrible first impression. I love the slow-burn sex and the humorous moments. The growth that Max achieves from leaving her abusive partner, through self-esteem issues and worries about her own worth, is inspiring. I love that the protagonist isn’t a super-skinny model-type. This is a fun read with hidden depth.
