Lauren Layne’s Sex, Love & Stiletto series simmers to a boil as two high-powered magazine writers find love amid a war of words. As a leading columnist for Stiletto, Grace Brighton has built a career warning women about rotten, cheating liars. She just never suspected her fiancé would be one of them. After Grace takes a heart-mending hiatus, her first assignment is to go on a couple of dates … go on a couple of dates with a counterpart from the men’s magazine Oxford and report her impressions. Grace 1.0 may have been instantly smitten with the gorgeous correspondent, but Grace 2.0 has sworn off relationships for six months, and she’s not falling for his outstanding bod and trophy-winning kisses . . . or is she?
Jake Malone wants to get back to the fly-by-night, who-knows-what’s-next guy he used to be, and he knows exactly how to do it. Oxford is adding a travel section, and Jake—with no wife and no kids and a willingness to live anywhere, eat anything, do everything—is perfect for the job . . . except that his playboy reputation makes his new editor nervous. To get the gig, he must agree to a fluffy joint article with Stiletto. But after just one date with snooty, sumptuous, sensational Grace Brighton, Jake starts taking this assignment a whole lot more seriously.

Praise for Love the One You’re With
“Spunky, flirty, and full of sass, Love the One You’re With is everything a romance should be! Lauren Layne has a winner.”—New York Times bestselling author Christie Craig
“A sparkling romance for any woman who’s ever reinvented herself . . . or wants to.”—Stephanie Bond, bestselling author of Stop the Wedding!
“A fun and sexy romp through Manhattan, Love the One You’re With is a great addition to the Stiletto series!”—Elisabeth Barrett, author of Slow Summer Burn
“Great characterizations, amazing chemistry, witty banters, and heartfelt conversations. Amazing writing from Lauren Layne.”—Girl Meets Books
“I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun romantic story! It’s already on my list of books I will re-read soon!”—Inside the Pages of a Book
“The second in the Sex, Love & Stiletto series, Love the One You’re With is a story of overcoming heartache, jaded stereotypes and regaining self-confidence. It is a glimpse into what women and men go through on those first dates of a budding relationship.”—Literarily Illumined
“Less than a ‘Battle of the Sexes’ than two people trying to win in tiny skirmishes, there are several quips that add humor and lightness to the story, breaking up the angst. With a return of the characters from the first story, and a few new characters to boot, this is warming up to be a clever, fun-loving with moments of steam story that many will eat up with a spoon.”—I Am, Indeed

Grace and Jake do the push and pull of a fake romance for their magazine articles that turns into more.
I liked this because Jake had this carefree and charming reputation and demeanor as a lover of women. Their very first encounter made me smile at him.
Grace had been devastated by a cheating long term boyfriend and figured she could pull off …
Grace is the relationship expert, of course she is she’s been in a relationship with one guy since college. So then why is she suddenly single because she didn’t see that he was a cheating jerk? Grace decides to reinvent herself and swears off men!
Jake is like a rolling stone. He loves to travel and is trying to get the job at Oxford, …
Fantastic read, even though I had it in audio, fantastic listen! Jake and Grace were perfect! They are paired for a project between magazines to date and what starts as a competition ends in something so much more. This was witty and full of fun and love. Definitely loving this series!
I really enjoyed this second book in this series. I am looking forward to the next one. It’s a great series. I definitely recommend the author and the series.
What starts out as a work date turns into something more complicated between a charming playboy and a one who swore off men. Lots of fun and witty interactions between the characters as well as heat, but a real sweet romance and a happy ending. Overall easy read that you can get lost in.
4.25 It’s How a Dairyman Does It Stars. Welcome to the most hilarious case of PDA about to hit the Big Apple.
I’d like to introduce you to Jake, my new favorite bachelor. He’ll most likely become your fave, too. He’s no pushover, he’s pure male, he’s a little bit of a Momma’s boy (in a totally cool way), but Momma don’t cut him no slack in this …
A great fun love story!
This was a fun read. Witty, well written, with completely believable characters. I will definitely read more of this author’s work.
One of the things I really love about this story is how different it is from many romance novels… in that it paints a very realistic picture of how, even if you’re in a happy relationship, you can still question it and be attracted to other people. Anyone who has been in a long-term relationship will be able to relate to what the MC experiences. …
Just why…why do some women read this tripe and call it romantic. Some guy from Ellen’s past that SHE broke up with because he wasn’t constantly reaffirming his affections for her (then later says he dumped her) magically reappears and the same day she’s having fantasies of him while having sex with her husband. Seriously??!!
And now she …

Very much enjoyed this book. Usually, I can predict the ending halfway through a book, but this one had me guessing until the very end. I had no idea what I actually wanted my HEA to be, but I ended up very satisfied and with a romance hangover afterward. Great book!
Probably my favorite book. I read this a few years ago. I love Emily Giffen because her characters are relatable to me.
This book had me at times sobbing, it lends a different perspective to infidelity, making you see beyond the black and white. Truly a great book.
While I didn’t have a lot of sympathy for the leading lady (a woman wondering if she missed out on the love of her life by marrying her husband, and willing to dance along the line of cheating to find out), this story redeemed itself with wonderful side characters. Ellen’s husband is a saint, and probably one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever read. …
On the one hand, I was upset at the end of this book, on the other side the ending made perfect sense.
Am I making any sense my self?
As someone who loves novels, I wouldn’t want it to end the way it did, But isn’t that what real life is all about?
All in all, I would describe this book in three words: cute, sad, and realistic.
What if the “one that got away” came back? What if the one who broke your heart wanted another chance? Doesn’t everyone sometimes wish for that to happen- or at least have pride enough to hope that the ones who dumped us will regret it?
Ellen and Andy have a perfect marriage. Not just seem to, but really do. They are honestly and authentically in …
