Candace Andrews has had enough of pleasing others. In an act of birthday rebellion, she sets out to please herself–by walking into the tattoo parlor owned by her cousin’s ex-boyfriend. All she wants is a little ink, and Brian’s just the guy to give it to her. As soon as she submits to his masterful hands, though, the forbidden attraction she’s always felt for him resurfaces…and she realizes … realizes the devilishly sexy artist could give her so much more.
Sweet, innocent Candace is the last person Brian expected to see again. She’s everything he’s not, and her family despises him. He doesn’t need the hassle, but he needs her, and this time no one is taking her away. Not even those who threaten to make his life a living hell.
Backed into a corner, Candace faces the worst kind of choice. Give in to those who think Brian is nothing but trouble…or hold her ground and risk it all for the one man who rocks her world.

Love this book and the entire series!
Heartwarming!
Candance & Brian’s story is a beautifully written love story that is impossible to put down!
Three years ago, I randomly purchased this book- in fact, mine has the original cover. I realized I never wrote a review- so here I am to remedy that wrong, because this is one of my favorite romances of all time. It sits at the top of my kindle because I frequently re-read it, saved in my “all time favorite” collection for easy access. If I actually read my hardcopy, I’m sure the pages would be worn from use.
The story is pretty straight forward- innocent, straight laced Candace doesn’t get to live life on her own terms- she’s shelter, privileged, and obedient. Her one act of defiance, a birthday tattoo, puts her in the chair and back on the radar of her cousin’s ex, Brian, whom she’s always pined after. Brian is older, more experienced, and a “bad boy”- and certainly does not fit into Candace’s world. WIll they succumb to their attraction and even if they do how will they make it work?
I saw some reviews that don’t love Candace- because she’s passive and tentative and won’t’ stand up to her family. Sure, that might not be everyone’s favorite heroine, but not everyone is the feisty ball buster heroine you read in books- and I find Candace empathetic, perhaps others haven’t suffered under the weight of oppressive familial expectations and norms, I know I certainly have, and so I felt for her. She’s young and coming in her own (this is a new adult story)- she’s just figuring out who she is and what she even wants and the world around her- she’s not yet had the catalyst she needs to embrace herself or to break out of the reigns of her family- THAT is what this story is about, her doing just that, not only because she wants Brian but because she wants to be who she is with Brian. But, she’s never been in a relationship, so she’s immature and makes mistakes. I loved this theme- its easy for us (and Brian) to forget how terrifying becoming who you want to be is- particularly when others around you that you love stand in your way. So, I related to her- and I liked her innocence and gentleness, made me nostalgic.
And Brian- oh my stars. This man is my book boyfriend for life. He MADE this book for me- and I’ve read tons of other Cherrie stories just to find someone half as awesome as he is. He’s the “bad boy” externally but his heart is so kind and grounded. He knows exactly who he is and what he stands for, and like Candace he’s struggled to embrace it, but he’s older, more assured, and long ago became unwilling to compromise it, even if he still has tensions with his family for his past transgressions.
The chemistry in this is THROUGH The roof- from the first moment Brian puts his hands on Candace I could feel the sizzle, and my heart didn’t stop beating heavily for days after reading. The physical chemistry (and steamy times) are HOT HOT HOT, but they build an emotional connection and bond- and they find out they have so much more in common than it would seem on paper. They intimate, soulful bond between them is so warm and tender, a stark juxtaposition to the harsh exterior and reputation Brian has in town.
Outside of loving the story, it also made me seriously spend time researching d-piercings and want to get tattooed (wink wink).
This is one of my all time favs- I love this couple, I love Brian, and i love the pitter pat the story gives to my heart.
*AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *
I liked it but it had a bit too much drama and angst from the female character.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Plenty of dialogues
Characters is well developed but not the best I’ve experienced
Narrator:
Clear pronunciation but I was not satisfied with her performance with the male voice.
4 stars overall
This was the first book I read by this author. I ended up reading the entire series. It was a great read.
Rock Me by Cherrie Lynn was such a good read! The good girl, Candace Andrews, ready to break free from her constraints and live life her way, but at what cost? Candace has always done what was expected of her and she had had enough. On her birthday, she decides to get a tattoo and goes to her cousin’s ex to get it. What she did not expect was the sparks to fly when he touches her. But when all hell breaks loose with her family, what is she to do?
I loved, loved Brian. He was the tattooed and pierced man her family hated, but he was all heart. I loved how determined he was to keep her in his life, even when he did not think he was good enough. There journey was not an easy one, but it was heartwarming and captivating! Rock Me is a story about love, family, learning to let go and taking chances. Such a great read!
Happy reading!
This is a great one to read.
read it in one day didn’t put it down
I love this book and have reread it several times. I also love the other books in this series. They are some of my favorite books because of the “soundtrack”. Plus the characters are amazing.
it was a little bit on the wild side, page turner, and romance
Loved it
I really enjoyed this book.
Amazing story. 1st time reader of a Cherrie Lynn book. I couldn’t put this book down. The story line kept you wondering. I fell in love with the characters. I was invested and wanted to know what was going to happen. Thanks for making my spring break enjoyable.
Bad Boy Tattoo Artist
Would you go against your family and start seeing your cousin’s ex? You would if that guy was bad boy tattoo artist, Brian who is also the owner of his shop. He can’t be all bad if he owns his own shop, right?! Candace doesn’t think so. This is one hot romance that will have you turning pages as fast as you can.
A story of fighting for who and what you want. I was intrigued by the blurb of this story. Overall, however, the story, for me, fell flat.
Throughout the book I was trying to figure of how our main characters “fit” together, how they compliment each other. I had a hard time with their connection. I didn’t really feel anything for them as a couple be it good or bad.
One of my major issues is with Candace. I couldn’t connect with her and I did not understand the walls she put between her and Brian. Nor did I understand all the hoops he had to jump through. I don’t feel like Candace put forth the effort to be with Brian as much as he did for her.
I did really like Brian however. He stood up and fought for what he wanted. I was truly impressed.
I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I still love this, but Candace drove me crazy with her back and forth. I also got a little irritated with Brian’s family. The things he did as a kid, he outgrew them and has made something of himself. Let it go.

I am a sucker for a bad boy with a heart of gold and Brian Ross is top shelf. Serve me up a big slice of Brian, he is delicious.
