But with magick on the decline, that’s the world we’re ending up with.Meet the Society for Magickal Heritage. Our boss is a disembodied voice. Our headquarters is a sentient house. You could say we’ve … disembodied voice. Our headquarters is a sentient house. You could say we’ve a vested interest in keeping magick alive.
Can a ragtag bunch of magicians, necromancers and fae prevail against inevitable ruin and decline?
Hell yes. Try and stop us.
First mission? Find the source of a magickal disease that’s decimating Britain’s troll enclaves — and fix it. Simple.
Or… maybe not. For the only place that might hold the information we need is the ancient and inconveniently lost enclave of Farringale…

It is an adorable story, with funny characters and interesting premise. I have bought several books from this series already!
I’ve started the series of Modern Magick – and you do need to start at book 1. It’s easy-reading but the plot is madly page-turning and I’ve been devouring each book at two day intervals. Thoroughly recommend it to those who enjoy light fantasy and the fact there’s an alternative universe living right beside us.
Cute and fun. Perfect for when you’re having a bad day and just want to curl up with a cup of tea and relax with a faerie tale that has a good ending.
Characters are as interesting as I would hope. twists and delightful turns
I really enjoy this series. I’ve made it through volumes 1&2 so far. They are light hearted magical adventures. Brings to mind Indiana Jones but with a female magician hopping through magical kingdoms instead of archaeology sites.
What a great series! Kept reading until the last one!!! Can’t wait for more to see what happens next.
well written, engaging a fun read . will follow this author
I really enjoyed this story. It was unusual, well-written and had interesting and quirky characters. I will definitely read the next in the series and will look for more books from this author.
I liked reading this book.
An interesting read with fun characters. The store moved at a good paced and kept me entertained.
oh how much I loved this world! Can’t wait to see what adventures are in store.
A quirky cup of hot chocolate. A Richly amusing and satisfying romp. A nod to Dr. Who, a splash of Harry Potter and a hearty English Mystery combines into one snarky fairy tale leading us merrily down the path!
“Never underestimate the benefits of a good bra.” I laughed out loud. Read The Road to Farringale to find out why Ves values her undergarments.
Too short!
This original and entertaining walk into a magical Britain is worth a read for fans of fantasy fiction. The story is well told in a first person narrative, which I found refreshing and well done. The narrator, and heroine, is not a teenager, ethereal or delicate in any way, but a very flamboyant personality of considerable accomplishment and character. Her fellow adventurers are also talented, brave and accomplished, and equally interesting characters. The adventure itself is engaging and challenging. The writing, plotting and pacing are quite good. Though the book is not a cliff hanger, it leaves room for further adventure.
It was an interesting fun read. Characters were a little less developed than ideal. But overall a pleasant read.
It was just okay. There was a lot of whimsical characters and sort of reminded me of a Harry Potter theme.
