SOME LEGENDS ARE BETTER LEFT UNTOLD.I wasn’t the sort of girl who believed in fairytales, let alone tales about faeries. But that changed the day Faeries came to my small town and Hunters rose from their graves. On that fateful day, I received a book, a peculiar collection of myths and legends. Turns out it was so much more than stories. And just as I was on the verge of unlocking its secrets, it … unlocking its secrets, it was stolen from me by someone I called a friend.
Now, I don’t know whom I can turn to, whom I can trust. All I know is that there are two sides, and I am straddling the great divide because I am both Faerie and Hunter. And although I swore I would never choose, I am slowly falling for one of those sides…
Fans of Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series will adore Wildenstein’s Lost Clan series.

Rowan Wood Legends is the second instalment in Cat story and things are really starting to heat up. Secrets are revealed that shock our heroine to the core, she gets more tangled up in the Fae worlds and unexpected events keep coming putting her on an emotional rollercoaster. I really felt for Cat wanting to crawl into the story and help her. She is an amazing main female character, strong, fierce, loyal and she knows her own mind. Though I admire her strong mind and stubbornness it gets her in trouble slightly
Being half-human and half -hunter she is struggling with both sides of who she is. On both sides are people that she begins to get closer too and as more secrets are revealed. Cat is desperate for the truth and more answers about who she is and whats she’s capable off. She goes looking for answers about her family.
Cat and Ace begin to grow closer which was something I hadn’t been expecting. Olivia has a knack for making you want heroine and the first man to appear, Cruz. Then change it so that the actual person she ends up with is the second one you cursed out for ruining their budding romance by inserting themselves. However, after getting to know Ace more I think he is more perfect for her. In fact, Cat begins to realise that she’s had arrogant, infuriating, sexy Ace Wood, Prince of Nevarah wrong all along.
Kajika’s character changes and becomes more negative as he allows his prejudices and hatred towards the fae impact his friendship with Cat. He says some awful things to her that only fuuther pushes her away towards the Fae which is just as dangerous.
I simply adore the world that Olivia has created even though in the beginning I couldn’t see how it all linked together I trusted her and the mythology she incorporates is incredibly detailed. The world she has built is so. The only thing I regret is that her stories are so addictive that I end up not being able to do literally anything until I have consumed it entirely because this then makes me sad that there is no more.
And I just have to gush again about the wonderful Stephanie Fritz who is the narrator of this book. Great choice Olivia she truly makes the book come more alive!
Awesome. This second book of the Lost Clan series was absolutely awesome. I went to bed almost at 4 am because I couldn’t stop reading. I needed it to know what happened next. In this book all the characters are more developed and we start to see how they are dealing with the waking up of the hunters and the new role that Cat is playing.
The plot is so great! With mysteries and unexpected turns that make the story so enjoyable. Hunters, Faeries and Humans are forming a dangerous his bold attitude and witty comments. Kadjika is a bit too deep in his beliefs and Cass still make a funny and cool friend. Cat if full of doubts and some prejudices and in this book she will realize that not everything nor everyone is what it looks like. There’s more to meet the eye and many secrets she needs to learn.
Great writing and that right pace so you are finding out new things about the story and the characters all the time. It’ll keep you wonder who’s right and who’s wrong and if Catori’s misgivings are justified or not. Because her heart and body is being attracted to someone she didn’t expect.
Already reading book 3 in this series.
Just brilliant! Absolutely loved this. I listened to the audio version and great narration really brought this amazing story to life.
This is book 2 of The Lost Clan series and so much more happened. You need to read the first to understand the world building as it’s all unraveling into something so unique and original.
Cat still wants to remain human but has people she cares for on both sides of the Fae/hunter war hoping she picks a side. Arghh but never mind picking a side she can’t pick a guy. Ace I love and started loving him in the last book but in this he is fantastic and she can’t see it.
More in her extensive family tree is revealed and you will love it as like I said so much is unfolding and I can’t wait to see where this series goes.
Who are the bad guys? Well I think that’s what I love about this book and that is like in real life there are no bad guys and it just depends on what side you are on.
I’m stopping this review now as I can’t wait to jump into the next book as it’s that good. The end was just wow and I’m off to start book 3 right now.
I received an ARC in return for a non biased review and this was a cracking 5/5.
This book was even better than the first, and I loved the first.
Catori is someone I can relate to. She is strong, brave, stubborn, and yet she still manages to be vulnerable and real. I absolutely cannot get enough of her, so in a way I am sad I am moving on to the next book because it is the third in a trilogy and all that.
I don’t know what to feel about Cruz. I mean, part of me loves him, and part of me wants to strangle him while another part does not trust a single word out of his mouth. I think the author did such a good job with his transition from book 1 to 2 because I had no idea with how much I loved him in the first book that I would dislike him so much in book 2.
And then there is Ace. Ace, the Fae prince, the only one who has a sense of humor. Everytime a fight breaks out between Catori and him, I am on the edge of my seat. There is fire between them, and I could feel the tension pulling them closer and closer throighout the whole book, ready to snap at any moment. Plus, I actually really, really adore Ace’s personality, so for me, I am hoping they can find their way to navigate the world together.
All in all, let me just say a few more things. With such strong characters, tension filled romantic subplots, and a plot that keeps you turning the pages, you would be crazy not to pick up this series. Olivia Wildenstein just keeps moving toward the top of my favorite authors, and I for one am excited to read every book she writes.
Do yourself a favor and read these books.
This is Book 2 of the the Lost Clan series. Wonderful supernatural fantasy with a splash of romance! It will keep you hooked until the last page!
Engrossing!!
For #2 we’re still in the small town of Rowan. Cat is still reeling from her Mum’s death & Blake’s suicide but she’s left livid by the betrayal of old family friend Stella, Cass’s Aunt! She’s lost her Book, the one with all of the Fae & Gottwa tales in it and so much more!! What’s even worse is Cruz used his ‘fae favour’ to blackmail/torture it’s location out of her! Cat is determined to get it back – Somehow
We learn more about the world where the Fae live in this book. It sounds amazing & politically terrifying
Kajika says & does some dumb hurtful things to Cat out of hurt & anger! Gwen disappears and her return doesn’t bode well for Cat or the Fae!!
Lily puts a lot at risk to try to break the bond Cruz put on Cat
Cat is made to eat crow where Ace is concerned on a few different occasions
The romance is turned up in this book and it’s in the direction I hoped for
There is a HUMONGOUS secret revealed to Cat – Jaw dropping!!
I’m really enjoying this series so far!! Hurrah, There were no tears in this one 4 Stars
