This reviewer says it best: As in Houston’s previous books, this yarn has all of the elements, a murder mystery, a bit of romance, and my favorite, the wonderful interactions Jake has with his animals, Fred, his golden retriever, and a new found kitten who tries to steal the show. Houston is able to tell his story without gratuitous violence or sex. Richard Houston is a two-time USA Today Best … two-time USA Today Best selling author whose amateur sleuth solves murder mysteries in Colorado and the Missouri Ozarks with his Golden Retriever and widowed, sixty-nine year old neighbor.

Well Richard Houston has done it again. Jake is hired to checkout relics that belong to Bonnie’s family. In the midst of investigating that he becomes the suspect in another murder. Richard Houston gives you murder, mystery, humor and a possible romance in the works. It’s good to see Jake trying to move on after Julie’s death. I love the interaction of Jake, Bonnie, Fred and a new friend coming into the mix. I figured out who was behind some of the mayhem. In my opinion if you are a Richard Houston fan, he didn’t disappoint. I read on Kindle Unlimited.
A good change of pace book.
I liked the relationship of the dog, Fred with the main character.
