With some series by book 12 they start to lose there sparkle, what had once made them so great is just repeated and become predictable. The only reason you still get them is because you remembered you enjoyed them. I am so glad that this is not the case with this series and the series is still as fresh and funny as the first book. The characters are what makes it so much fun and a pleasure to listen to and I just can’t get enough. That is not to say you shouldn’t expect Wanda, the psychic, to predict that Myrtle’s life is in danger or the gnomes not to put in appearance because she is cross with her son or Elaine the daughter in law to be trying a new hobby or even Myrtle to have a disaster in the kitchen but these things are what makes it so entertaining. The mystery was good to because there is plenty of suspects with different motives. I hope the series isn’t ending any time soon.
When Myrtle and Miles neighbour doesn’t return home from work they join his wife to look for him. Having just finished watching there favourite tv show, when they find his car abandoned at the side of the road they can’t help but look in the trunk, well a body was hidden in one on the show. They are surprised to find him stuffed in there and very much dead. The couple are fairly new to the area and don’t know anybody, so who would kill him? Myrtle, joined by her sidekick Miles sets out to find the killer after a prediction from Wanda that Myrtle is in danger and Miles needs to take care. They start with the widow but when another neighbour is killed they will need to set there sights higher to find the connection like at the school high school games and the headmaster, even book club could possibly give them some clues. They just need to figure it out before the prediction comes true.
I like the narrator and think she does a good job, whether it is a young or old character she sound just right for that person.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Myrtle and Miles are back, and they have another murder in their small town of Bradley, North Carolina. After a new neighbor comes racing down the street, desperate to find her husband, Myrtle and Miles drive out toward his work to try and find him, and they discover his car. After looking around, they discover the neighbor’s body in the trunk of his fancy car.
What follows is a race against time to try and find out who killed a supposedly innocent man and stuffed his body into his own trunk. As they look into potential suspects, they begin to discover dark secrets that are more unexpected than anything they’ve ever faced. But are these secrets attached to the murder, or is there someone else who is guilty. If Myrtle and Miles can’t solve this case quickly, one of them might end up being next.
This book is another great addition to the Myrtle Clover Series. With the same familiar characters, as well as a slew of new ones, this book adds even more depth to Bradley. Myrtle is her usual biting self, and Miles is the same lovable germaphobic sidekick that we know and love. With a somewhat darker turn of events than usual, we discover a web of lies and secrets even more sticky than usual. But the murderer was not who I was expecting, and the rabbit trails were perfect.
If you love Myrtle and Miles, this book is sure to keep you entertained. While it isn’t the best book to start the series on, this book is a good one and will make you laugh at the shenanigans and gasp at the shocking information revealed. The ending is perfect, and it made me eager to continue the series. Recommended for cozy mystery lovers and all southerners who have a love for small towns.
I am so happy I don’t live anywhere near Myrtle, there’s a good chance I would be dead if I did! I wonder how Puddin is going to use her heroics to get out of doing house work? Another hilarious read that I can guarantee I will read again and again.
