Paige Whiskey is a member of the Whiskey family of witches who also happens to be a Police Detective. She is sent to Louisiana to help in a murder investigation involving demons. She is renowned as an expert on these types of cases. Family betrayal, recovered memories and the arrival of Dexx, a Demon Hunter, whom Paige finds attractive complicate an already complicated investigation. Not to give away too much, Paige discovers she has even more powers than she thought. Read this book because this is one that is fast-paced, action packed and a real mystery that needs to be solved. If you like Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs or Jeannine Frost you will love this book as much as I did.

Whiskey Witches: Origins is the first book in the Whiskey Witches series. This is the first book that I have read by S.M. Blooding and I had a hard time putting this book most of the time. The author introduces the reader to a detective by the name of Paige Whiskey. She’s a member of a witch family, but she’s the only one without powers. Of course, my curiosity is piqued as to why and the author does not disappoint in telling Paige’s harrowing story. Paige has been through a lot in her life, and because of that…it has created a means for a powerful “demon” to take possession of her during a crime scene investigation. Danger is looming and if Paige and her “partner” Dexx don’t figure things out…and fast…all Hell is going to break loose.
Whiskey Witches is a paranormal mystery novel with a dash of horror elements to it. I enjoyed this story. I found Paige to be an engaging character. She’s strong, but she carries deep wounds and because of those wounds she carries deep resentment to those who are guilty of inflicting that pain. I’m saddened by how misunderstood she was as a child and growing up. She’s lost so much, but because of the lies she never fully understood the amount of loss she was experiencing or why.
The author builds a unique and twisted world of where not everything is what it seems. There are a few editorial errors in this book throughout, but none of them are so bad that they detract from the overall storyline.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I am eager to start the next book in this series. Paige Whiskey is a dynamite character and Dexx creates a nice balance to her. Definitely a book for those who enjoy paranormal mystery with a hefty dose of action and a dash of horror.

This is a first for me by S.M. Blooding and wow it was an amazing find. She spins a story you can get lost in until the last page.

Paige is good at her job, well when she isn’t being hindered by unseen forces. With demons on the run, murders happening all around her, and a demon hunter trying to help, life is pretty crazy. Called to help on a case in St. Francisville Louisiana, turns into a hunt for the key to the gate of Hell. With the help of a few demons, a sexy demon hunter named Dex, the annoyance of some angels can she save the world even if she is rusty? Action packed keeps you guessing and it doesn’t hurt that she and Dexx have some major sparks.
Paranormal crime fans will eat this book up and need more to fill the desire of what comes next.

A strange, but compelling story that is difficult to put down. A fight between demons and angels with humans caught in between.
Detective Paige Whiskey belongs to a family of witches, known to help humans in all situations – white witches. But Paige is different, and her special gift is a magnet for trouble when she is asked to help in a murder investigation.
I found the book difficult to put down, and am definitely looking forward to tne sequel of this book. Although it did not end in a cliff hanger it leaves a feeling of unfinished business and a wish to continue the story.
A wonderful read, a great blend of all the things that make paranormal stories so fascinating.

Paige comes from a long line of witches that have different powers. She has not discovered hers for whatever reason..at least not yet! She is a police officer and is called to Louisiana to help solve three murders. At the scene she discovers runes and marks affiliated with different meanings but make no sense. Then something tries to possess her! Dexx, the demon hunter arrives to help Paige. They manage to get the demon out of her but she now will possess her powers that were bound and recover her memories of the past five years. She has a daughter Leah that her mother took from her in court. She is also a demon Summoner! Dead bodies are popping up everywhere and the Chief of police is aware of everything and an FBI agent comes to town as well. From this point onward her life will never be the same! More secrets, angels, Nephilim, possessions, friends, foes and a major battle occur that will rival the beginning of the apocalypse! Their intent is to open the gateway to Hell/Heaven. Paige, Dexx and others will continue to fight the demons and angels so the gate cannot be opened. The book is action-packed from page one and I could not put it down. Paige is just beginning to understand what her powers and she entails…but there is more to come…stay tuned~ I received this book from Booksprout and am leaving a voluntary review.

Whiskey Witches Origins:
S M Blooding, The Demon Whiskey – Has an overview, which I appreciate knowing what the book is about before reading it. Although I was disappointed with the last part of Whiskey Witches, I decided to read TDW. This book can be read after or before WW, without any spoilers. Well written, with realistic dialog and an interesting plot. By realistic, I don’t mean vulgar language, since nowadays that’s considered the real way to talk. This book is heavy with vulgar language, which I found distracting in both books, and caused me to start skimming after a few chapters. But at least the English out weights the profanity. The author and I butted heads, and while we agreed to disagree, we found we had similar backgrounds. I found Blooding a nice and funny lady through our emails. Minor editing needed. I contacted the author to review her books after reading Whiskey Witches. 4*
S M Blooding, Whiskey Witches #1 – Intense. This well written, interesting story hits the floor running and doesn’t stop until the last quarter of the story. The characters are believable and the twisting plot keeps the reader immersed in reading until the last 25%. The book then got boring and silly in places. Unfortunately, WW is heavy with vulgar language, which distracted me in places. I do credit the author with some restraint, since there could have been more profanity. Minor editing needed. This is my first book by this author and I will be reading The Demon Whiskey. 4*
S M Blooding, Blood Moon Magick #2 – The stories keep getting better. Another well written, intriguing, fast paced book. The suspense filled storylines keep the reader immersed in the pages, making it hard to put the book down. The characters grow more with each story and the new characters are just as interesting. Ms. Blooding does an excellent job with her vivid descriptions and action scenes; you’re actually there with the characters. Kinda hard when you’ve got a good imagination and everything is clear; makes ya lazy. More paranormals add to the mix, adding a good depth to the series. Needs editing. 4*
S M Blooding, Barrel of Whiskey #3 – I know why I love this series, the Whiskeys reside in Texas. Not really, it helps, but the author does a great job with her well written storylines and interesting characters. The plot rides like a rollercoaster out of control; the pace is fast and there’s nonstop action. The characters, good and bad, make this, amongst other things, a difficult book to put down. Vivid descriptions are the norm for this author. Needs editing. 4*
S M Blooding, Witches of the West #4 -I love that I got to chain read the last three books. I never got tired of the well written, intriguing storylines; the interesting characters; and the fast paced action. Ms. Blooding is an artist with her vivid descriptions and rollercoaster plots, which make her books difficult to put down. Read them in order for the best entertainment. Needs editing. 4*
Whiskey Witches Origins End.
Needs serious editing.
Detective Paige Whiskey is one of the Whiskey Witches and is highly sought after to solve “strange or bizarre” cases. She hasn’t been able to use her gifts for years after her family “hide” them from her. So when she goes to help everything goes crazy around her. Ghosts attack her, demons possess her, and her friend Dex comes to help her and ends up just being a distraction she doesn’t need. This is one job that may cost Paige her life, body and soul. This was a good read I just felt at times it got bogged down in the details. I didn’t particularly like the narrator and it took away from my enjoyment of this book. Overall I did like the story and would like to read more about Paige and her adventures.
