This was short and sweet. Great story
Short but good book
I listen to this without reading the book first and thoroughly liked it.
This is a short best friends romance book between Shawn and Dave. Shawn has always liked Dave but his straight best friend had a girlfriend, or did he.
Dave, always thought about Shawn but kept his feelings a secret as he had a girlfriend and all was good, until he was caught flirting with a guy at their local gym where his girlfriend worked and caught him.
This is a sweet book, full of hot sex and lace. Best friends to lovers books are always so good. It also has a HEA so no cliff hangers. This is a stand alone and an easy read.

Lace by K.C. Wells was given to me in exchange for an honest review. I thought this book was sweet. Two men who have been best friends forever. Shawn, who has been in love with Dave forever even though he thinks he is straight. Dave recently finds out he is Bi has fallen for his best Friend. How to tell Shawn he wants him as a boyfriend and more. When he accidentally finds out Shawn’s secret he is mesmerized and finally lets him know. Seb Yarrick was a wonderful narrator from beginning to end.

Hot as fire!
Lace is the first book I ever read by K.C. Wells, back in 2017. It started my love of her stories and I haven’t missed too many she’s published since this one. When I found out it was being done in audio, I jumped at the chance to listen and review.
This is a great friends-to-lovers story. At times I wanted to bang the MCs heads together and tell them to wake up! When Shawn and Dave finally get on the same page – watch out!
I’ve often said that a book doesn’t have to be long to be good and Lace is a great example of that. I love this length of audiobook because it’s perfect for finishing in one evening.
This is only the second audiobook I’ve listened to performed by Seb Yarrick. I think he did a great job. I enjoyed his performance of this one more than the first one I listened to so perhaps it just took me a bit to get used to his voice. In any case, I’ll be listening to more of his performances.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
Best Mates make the Best Mates (an audio review)
There are times when I’m looking for low-angst and somewhat simple romances. Something sweet while being sexy at the same time. Often, I can turn to K.C. Wells to provide that book. In this case, she delivered.
What happens when a man has been in love with his best friend forever? Watched from the sidelines as said friend has other relationships – girlfriends in particular? Well, it can hurt, to be sure, but is it worth it to say something when you’re risking the friendship? Shawn doesn’t feel that way. He loves Dave but would never risk what they have.
Until the day Dave reveals he’s broken up with a woman he’d been seeing because she’d caught him flirting with a man.
And Shawn is like, uh, hang on a second…you’re bi???
He barely has time to recover from that shock when Dave accidentally discovers Shawn loves to wear women’s undergarments. Okay, so now Dave is seeing Shawn in a whole new light. He also wonders if risking their friendship is worth it. But man, he wants to see Shawn in panties.
Like I said, this is a fun romance. Slightly kinky, to be sure, but with plenty of good feels. I always enjoy K.C. Wells books and this one was no exception. There are more books in the Material World series and I hope they will make their way to audio shortly.
Seb Yarrick is now narrating many of Ms. Wells’ British books and I’m pleased. He is great to listen to and his performances always hit all the right notes. So, a great and fun book about friends to lovers.
Great Story & Narration An Enjoyable Delight!
Lace
A Material World, Book 1
By: K.C. Wells
Narrated by: Seb Yarrick
This great story is an enjoyable delight! It is a well written, fast moving story that grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire time. I adored the two lead characters, Shawn and Dave, they have been friends since childhood, shared a lot with each other but not everything until now. Dave learns Shawn likes his lace and in turn Shawn learns about Dave’s discovery and bi-awakening. This is a sweet and spicy friends to lovers story, it is nicely plotted and there is never a dull moment. It is the perfect book to heat up a cold afternoon or evening. K.C Wells, thank you for another enjoyable and entertaining story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Seb Yarrick is a wonderful narrator and voice artist. He brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. He does a great job portraying the characters, capturing all of their emotions and projecting them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
This had every one of my favorite things. You have best friends who become lovers and my favorite kink with the lingerie. Dave and Shawn are great together. How they navigate going from friends to lovers was done perfectly. Even Jake surprised me. Then after reading this wonderful book, I get teased about two more coming. I can’t wait to read more and I’m going to have to check out Tantulus.

Story:
This was a sweet story of two friends who harbored secret crushes on the other. One was an out and proud gay man, and the other recently discovered his bisexuality.
When it was discovered that Dave wasn’t the only one with secrets, their relationship made a swift shift into new territory. Things weren’t smooth sailing, as they’d hope, and misunderstandings occurred.
This was an entertaining story that was both fun and sweet. I enjoyed the characters.
Seb Yarrick is a new to me narrator. He did a great job bringing this story to life. I look forward to hearing more from him in the future.
Okay first… that cover! Whoa, just sayin’.
Lace, the first book in K.C. Wells’ standalone A Material World series, is a sweet and delightfully kinky friends-to-lovers romance. When these buddies finally come clean about their attraction to one another, getting sweaty between the sheets just comes naturally.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, K.C. Wells should write adult movies. (I know I’d watch them!) The situations these boys find themselves in, and oh YES, the dirty talk! Seriously smoking hot. And listening to it all performed by Seb Yarrick is such a treat. The way he pronounces some of his words: tongue, delicious, silk, and lace. Well you get where I’m going… simply shiver inducing, toe curlingly wonderful.
Mr. Yarrick has come up with distinct voices for each of the main characters, and they fit so perfectly with their personalities. Adorable Shawn in his lacy underthings. Gruff and manly (and slightly dommy) Dave. And Shawn’s lovely, supportive parents; I got such a kick out of the adorable voice he uses for Shawn’s mum.
These characters are well developed, and even in this short novella, their unique personalities really come out. Shawn’s playfulness with his accountant jokes, and Dave’s slightly macho retreat to the gym when he needs to sort out his emotions. Both men are so real, and they’re just great characters.
As the fun continues and the men become more intimate Shawn’s insecurity grows. Does Dave just want him for his lacy lingerie? How deep do their feelings really go? Turns out sharing their true feelings is the hard part, and it takes some real trust for them to open up with each other.
Looking ahead I see there are three more books in this series and I’ve got high hopes K.C. Wells plans to have them performed by Seb Yarrick as well. The plots sound fantastic, and I just hope I can hold out till they’re available in audio!
Sexy lacy book
A hot little number about two friends becoming lovers when discovering a liking of sexy lacy underwear. But as true guys, expressing feelings is going a little harder …and when throwing in a medling mama and some corny accountant jokes, you got yourselves a sexy lacy book to read/listen to …get to it asap!
Lace is the first book in the A Material World series, a contemporary romance series that features a friends-to-lovers romance with some really hot panty kink. The novella is short, but it is incredibly satisfying and left me feeling warm and happy. Shawn and Dave are best friends. Shawn is gay and Dave is straight…until he finally comes to the realization that maybe he’s actually bisexual. These two men are intensely attracted to each other, but they both have their hang ups that they will have to work through. The panty kink was extremely sexy and lead to some really steamy and hot sex scenes.
The audiobook was narrated by Seb Yarrick who does a great job with the narration. Seb voiced all the characters perfectly and put int the right amount of passion and energy into the performance. The audiobook production was well done.
3.5 stars for both story and narrator
A quick read. About 3 hours. Sean has been into his straight best friend forever. When Dave admits to him he isn’t straight afterall and when Dave stumbles on a secret of Seans things change fast. I enjoyed this book. It was sweet and hot. They did seriously lack communication though which I always find frustrating. Other than that they made a good couple and had great chemisty. The story was interesting enough with a little angst that I listened to the whole thing at once. It did irk me a little that Dave told Seans secret to Jack when they weren’t really at all close. All the sexy scenes saved it and I did really love the ending.
I was given a free audio verion from the author and the GRR arc team for review.
The narrator had pleasant voice and good pace and portrayed emotions well. He used different voices for the characters which is great. I liked Seans voice but I wasn’t fond of Daves voice at all.
